As she walked over to one of the metal cabinets behind Ethel, the room was completely silent. Dead silent.
"L-Long time no see," I faked a smile, and as the woman turned towards me, she pulled out a file and tossed it towards me.
I caught it with one hand and looked at her with a puzzled expression, but as she gestured for me to open it, I, of course, did.
Inside, there was a paper with a job offer that seemed almost too attractive.
"I apologize for eavesdropping… but if you want power, then there you go. I'll give it to you and the money to speak for yourself… of course, only if you accept the offer,"
I glanced up at Lucy, who slowly approached me, and noticed just how much baggier her clothes were today, as if she was hiding something.
"She is pregnant," Ethel announced, and my eyes practically lit up as I walked over to her and placed my ear against her stomach region.
