One whole week, Earth week to be precise, had passed since the last entry I have made.
I would unlikely look for excuses about not writing in my journal for so long, but it's a fact a lot's been going on recently, specifically stuff related to several people suddenly passing away without any visible traces of being sick.
Despite numerous examinations, our medics didn't manage to find the cause, and since the moment original casualties were found, no one fell sick.
In attempt to find the reason for their deaths, we had a group of people assigned to monitoring residents of the camp during their sleep. It's not like we had high hopes for finding anything with this approach - still, not getting even the slightest clue came in as a huge disappointment.
Though, if I'm to be honest here, I'm actually relieved nothing happened since then and there were no more people getting hurt.
While that's the case, we cannot leave things like this. Recently, we've started discussing this topic on a daily basis, and currently the small council we've established decided obelisks need to be scanned and carefully investigated.
Of course, given how small our knowledge about this planet is right now, I'm sure it won't be an easy task, and the dangers it could pose to the whole camp, and even to the whole expedition, may end up too big for the team we have here.
Well, I did some crazy things in the past obviously, so it's not the first time for me. However, if I ever had to choose for myself, I'd rather not get myself mixed in this kind of thing. Sure, I might have agreed to participate in a dangerous mission like this one to begin with, but my role wasn't supposed to include fighting against dangerous animals and potential booby traps left by some ancient, alien civilization.
If we had some bigger group of scientists who could assist in this kind of scenario, it wouldn't have to involve us, mechanics. All I can do now is to hope nothing bad comes out of this recent decision.
