As my body began to shake and get tossed around, my eyes shot open. What is going on I am not a toy for you all to hold- Wait, who are you people?
The last thing I did was fall asleep and now I seem to be in a very large room being handed around by a few people. Don't tell me it's already the next day!
Opening my mouth, I attempted to bite the man who put his finger to my cheek. If you're going to touch me with your crusty hands let's see how you like this.
As I attempted to chomp it dawned on me a newborn has no teeth, and this was now extremely awkward having a stranger's finger in my mouth. "Seems like she woke up." He said with a smile.
"Your majesty, she may be hungry." The voice of my father rang as he picked me up, reaching for his bag. As soon as I was taken, a bottle was shoved into my mouth. You are so lucky a baby cannot fight.
It was humiliating, but the milk tasted pretty great, much better quality than the ones back in my old fridge, maybe being a duke's daughter wasn't the worst option in the world.
Laughing, the one presumable the king shoved his face into mine. "I really can't believe it, are you sure none of the prophets had predicted her?" He asked as my father sighed and shook his head.
"For the third time, no. We came here precisely because there wasn't." He said as he gently rocked me, probably trying to make me burp. Something not happening.
"So is she engaged to the third prince or what." My first brother said from across the room. Oh you little snot nosed rotten asterisk eye brat. Just you wait.
As the king was happily prancing back to my seat, my father violently shook his head as a no while a woman piped up. "They are still going to be engaged, they just don't need to be seen in public for now." Her voice sounded foreign, not my mother's.
Dread sunk into me as I realised it must be the queen, the only woman of royalty who'd talk about kids engagements.
Suddenly, it seems like my threat list has grown to another person. "No way I'm getting married." turned into a bunch of wails due to my body, and the woman clapped in joy claiming it was fate.
Oh my goodness just to spite you the second i'm able to speak this engagement is going to be annulled. You know what your son is getting his heart broken by me asap because of your annoying voice and attitude.
What gives you the right to decide my future? I'd already decided to become invincible and possibly fall off a cliff.
As the adults discussed more, foreign hands picked me up and turned me to the person. "Eh, can't she just wear a blindfold?" My kidnapper asked as my second brother stroked his chin.
"It's a great idea, but she might be assumed as blind, a tragedy that's easy to avoid." He said, how curious. If I were blind would people mistreat me and try to throw me off a cliff?
"We should just allow a war, what's the worst that could happen? There's already one about to happen with our neighboring countries, if we picked a side to make our ally it would be a major benefit." My first brother said as he began to poke my cheeks.
Does no one in this world understand the simple meaning of keeping their hands to themselves especially with a newborn child?
"I bet that she'll end up dumping my brother by the time she's five." A new person appeared as she picked me up. Sensible, but annoying.
"She may take us all out with that look she's giving us, actually." She corrected herself as she held me close to her chest, gently rubbing my head.
Immediately my senses told me to like this woman who understood me. Even without any words. She understood to hold me and not squish. She understood I'd break up with her brother. She understood that I do not give a damn.
After a few minutes of them arguing, I felt like rolling my eyes, but unfortunately couldn't so I took to sleeping instead. Hopefully, by the time I'd wake they'd be gone and stay away from me for awhile.
Unfortunately, my nap was short lived as my body was passed around to the adults, who now took to appraising me through the crazy man from yesterday.
"Her skills are truly marvelous, aren't they?" He chuckled like a mad scientist would have.
"The academy will be fun in a few upcoming years." The queen said as she begun to write something down on a piece of paper.
"She's not going!" My father said as he frantically took me far away from the crazies. They all had one thing in common, a lack of common sense.
"You said she would when she masters her magic! You know children with blessings grow quick." The king said as he tried to get closer with his arms wide open. Meanwhile, my father took to drawing his sword.
"Children with blessings aren't common though at birth so who knows in her case!" He replied as he took a strike at the man, me in one arm. As he easily dodge, he tried to pounce.
It was making my head spin from their roughhousing, but it was manageable. "If it's from birth, it's good." He said allowing me to access more key information about this world.
Eyes determine magic, blind is bad because no magic. Healing is unseen. Children can be blessed. Children are normally blessed not from birth, but during childhood. Not everyone is blessed, but blessed kids adapt quickly.
As the two grown men continued to fight, my head swirled and I physically couldn't take it, falling back into sleep as my life around me just got a little bit crazier.
