Busy chatter flows through the large hallway of the building, it was rather busy than usual. Everyone from each faculty seemed to be minding their own business, laughing and giggling in every corner. The girl in black boots walked in between the crowd with her files hold by her waist area and her eyes busy scrolling through her phone.
It definitely wasn't a regular day, in fact it was White Day. A special occasion celebrated through the day for couples and the students were busy for it. It was a day when the guys would give in return for the girls, kinda like Valentines Day but today was where the girls would be receiving the gifts. As for that, it would likely mean a new couple is born.
Miyoung didn't take note on this, she was happy for everyone but she preferred to be alone since she'd knew no one would gladly be her partner. Everytime this happens, Chan would be the first to warn her.
She walked closer to her locker where Yeri was there, waiting for her with a smile. She was holding a small bouquet of baby's breath flowers with a note. They looked at each other with excitement when Miyoung gasped on how beautiful the flowers looked.
"No way."
"Yes way!" Yeri smiled.
"Was it him?"
"Yes. It was Tae. I'm literally freaking out, I seriously didn't expect him to say yes." Yeri had always liked her crush for a long time and last month was the only chance for her to officially admit her feelings.
"Glad he did, you'd be dying in embarrassment if he didn't." Miyoung laughed when she opened her locker, Yeri whined when she heard her friend said those lines. Then, she noticed how her friend stood like a statue. Yeri was puzzled, she looks into the locker as well and saw it.
The locker was filled with white scented roses and red envelope on top of the flowers. It looked amazing to Yeri but Miyoung said otherwise.
"This is so cool!"
"No it's not." Miyoung slammed her locker with the envelope in her hand.
"Why not? It's very romantic."
"First of all, I didn't confess to anyone. Secondly, my locker is locked! How could they even open it?" Miyoung was unpractical, she definitely had no explanation to this and another fact she never expected anyone to give her these type of things.
"Maybe Johnny? He's pretty close to you."
Miyoung shakes her head, it would be impossible if Johnny had feelings for her anyways. They usually treated each other like siblings.
"Speak of the devil."
They both look over to the taller male that waved to them through the crowd, he hurried over as if there was some important to say.
"Hey, Miyoung. Mrs.Song wants to see us." He swept back his blonde dyed hair that was messed up from his little run. Miyoung hesitated due to the incident before the older came, she wasn't sure what to say since she was still processing.
"Well? Come on, we gotta go." Johnny pulls the girl's hand and left the scene, he seemed terribly excited for no reason. He dragged her to the upper floor where the language classes were located. He opens up the door to the lecture hall that Mrs.Song had waited for them, the middle aged woman gave them a light grin when she saw the duo entered. Miyoung was still confused she barely had the thought to ask Johnny on this mess.
"Congrats you two. Your poetry entry was qualified to the Asia Languages Certification Programme. As told, it's held in Singapore this year," The lecturer started off. The words finally hitted the girl, she remembered the entry they sent for the programme three months ago.
'Qualified? That means.'
"You two will be heading to Singapore for this upcoming season! But I won't be able to supervise, so picked up Johnny to be your guide and mentor since he was experienced last semester. It's that okay?" They both look at Miyoung who was still in shock, she never expected anything like this to happen.
"Of course! But I still have no words."
The woman chuckled.
"It happens to best of us. I wish you luck, and do inform your relatives beforehand." The duo walked out after receiving their forms and passes for the event they were heading soon in the holidays. Miyoung still couldn't believe something amazing had popped in her life, just hoping that her brother would approve it.
The hallways fell into a calming atmosphere, most of students had already left since classes are over but there were some around to discuss on certain projects. A light buzz of a ringtone notified the duo, Miyoung took out her phone to see a long message from a certain number.
'Hope to see you again.' The last line she repeated to herself, with a faint smile she turns off her phone. Johnny saw everything, he knew that it must've been Jungwoo who texted her. He knew that the guy had been busy and hadn't taken much time to talk to her, but he wasn't sure what their relationship was. Was it friends or just merely a one sided love?
"Wanna grab a drink? You look like you need some sugar." He decides to change the topic as soon as possible, he knew she just needed some light amusement and he was up for it. Miyoung nods at him feeling rather grateful than ever, there was nothing better than the older lighting up the mood.
They both got to the campus café and thankfully it was still opened. Johnny got an ice americano while Miyoung had her own personal favourite, green tea. She hated the bitter smell of caffeine but having a close friend enjoying those drinks told her to endure it. She did try once but ended up giving the whole thing to someone else, coffee definitely was out of the list for Miyoung.
"I really can't wait for this season." Johnny broke their silence.
"I know, it would've been a miracle if Mark made me go too." They both came to halt as they saw a black Q7 SUV just waiting in front of the gates. The girl sighed, she thought she would've spend more time together with her buddy but that would just be a dream.
"Hope so. Good luck i guess?" Johnny waved goodbye when he watched Miyoung left off into the vehicle, he examined his watch to made it remind him something important. He left off from the area making sure none followed him.
Miyoung turned back to see her friend walk away, he looked suspicious but she shrugged it off. Beside her sat Chan just minding his own business on his tablet with their chauffeur focused on driving. The radio played with traffic information and news on the weather, rather boring as usual but at least it didn't seemed awkward. Miyoung fiddle onto the forms she had from before, scanning through and noticed her work also had a copy.
Chan took a few glances, he saw the print outs and was a bit puzzled. He read from afar, quite weird but he didn't want Miyoung to hide something from him.
"It's a programme, i'll have to leave since my work will be awarded in Singapore," Miyoung looks at him unfazed, she gives the papers to the older who seemed surprised that she wanted to share.
"You could just ask me next time, you looked like a freak just a sec ago.." Miyoung crisscrossed her arms, wanted to hold back the chuckle when she caught Chan off gaurd. It wasn't like she had a nasty temper but when it comes to privacy, these two siblings would highly appreciate when someone acknowledges it. They would often share their achievements but things like relationships does not go well to flex about.
"Sorry, interesting. I knew you were creative but didn't expect something big would dive into it."
"You're looking down on me?" Miyoung grabs onto his arm, she was quick witted to know that Chan would think her art was a joke. Her eyebrows arched with a death glare pointing to the male, he was a bit terrified for sure but he tried to act cool.
"No—I mean i didn't expect you to share your things. You never showed some of your work with me." He corrected himself.
"I do!"
"That was a one time thing, Park Miyoung." He backlashes her. Her words cannot fool him. Whenever he tries to take a peek, just ended up having him being smacked from the back and locked outside from her bedroom.
"Duh, artists never share. But it was because of Johnny, he insisted on joining him to enter."
"What is that a cult?"
"It's a national language programme, you dummy."
"You're the dummy here." He points at her. Yet again, another day with a bickering from these two. Apparently everyone in the house were aware of their love hate friendship, all day fighting like cats and dogs. But even those two animals could get along.
"It says it needs a gaurdian's support. Do you really expect Mark to let you go there?" He cocks an eyebrow to her.
"I do. He needs to, i'll make sure he'll sign it."
"At what cause?"
She stopped.
"I'll...try to figure it out..later.."
"Might as well be never. Mark's been more busy than before now that there's—" His words stopped in between, Chan wasn't sure if he needs to continue his sentence or not. Miyoung was getting irritated with the situation.
"There's what?"
"Nothing. You'll find out soon."
"What?"
"I told you'll find out soon." He hands back the forms that he hold onto, things were getting heated from him since he almost slipped out a secret that he promised not to tell Miyoung. But she was a cat killed by curiousity, her mind didn't stop thinking what would made Chan so confident that Mark wouldn't let her go on for the trip?
She might be the youngest out of everyone but it didn't let her to stop figuring out the missing puzzles in her family. Sometimes she even gets a hunch that they're doing something shady but it would be shameless of her to think negatively of her own name. Her thoughts clouded her just from remembering the paat events that her family faced, switching from town to town and hiding from people did grew some suspicions but Mark told her it was nothing to worry about.
And she believed him.
The car slowly makes a turn through the luxurious neighbourhood, not many residents were busy out. This also reminded her that she hasn't even interacted with anyone except for the the people at her study place and home. Were all protective families this way? Or was it because of her family's secrets, being one of the most dangerous people on earth that slyly blend in the shadows.
It seemed impossible to see anyone say they were normal, but it was nothing like in the movies. Sipping wine at the back of the yacht, brutally taking down people out of dept? She never seen that before.
"We're here." Chan nudges her, he saw how quiet she was and knew there was something going on in her little brain. Silent but deadly, that was definitely what he would label her. Anything that Miyoung thinks might turn out into a horror movie, that is for him of course. Despite being loud around her, Chan was quite observant on seeing the girl's actions. It sometimes would scare him that she was weirder than any other typical person.
They both got off from the car, Chan noticed a BMW was next to the home. It definitely didn't look like the ones they had, he told Miyoung to quickly get in but she became stubborn and questioned him why when he suddenly gave her orders.
"Just do what i say!"
They heard a slam from the vehicle they saw, a tall man with thick dark shades walked in front of them. Two other men stood behind him, making sure he was protected from any harm. Chan gulped, the sight of seeing this man knew things were about to get tougher for this family but he wasn't sure id Miyoung could handle it.
"Is this the Park's residence?"
