After that the shopkeep looked my way with a rather disdainful eye before he articulated his words "as much as I like my coin, I don't think I could set my shop up here again if word got around, I didn't treat you like the others". The man reached behind the dilapidated counter that he was sitting at. It whined. Shook. Tossing the suffering weight from himself to the counter even if only a second pushed to its broad confines. Pulling up off the counter its whining abruptly ceased after he placed a worn and cannibalized cardboard box that was filled to the very brim with all sorts of holsters even one looking to be still alive in a benevolent fashion.
The man again looked at me "choose one it is free with the knife just remember a case is just as important as the knife". In the box their so many different cases.
I could have spent literal hours looking at all of them but as soon as I moved the top plastic case to the side right there now sitting on top was a Greymen leather case with their infamous iron logo. In terms of more recent times, their logo was "different" a picture of an old ratty pitchfork on the right with a brand-new-looking shovel on the left both shackled together by heavy-looking iron chains. All brought together by a circle that ran the circumference of the emblem burned, etched, or stamped right into all their works. This piece happened to have an embedded emblem that was out of the ordinary.
As soon as it came into view it was going to be mine regardless of its martial or shape, Greyman work was hard to come by outside of the family. It could be fake. But If there was even a single chance that it was real then it was not up for debate I had to roll the dice.
The Greymen.
Once a name to be feared throughout every land and sea that's if you are one for myths that is. Likewise, even the largest lies have some truth hidden beneath their surface. This is true for the Marry family as is the Greymen family. They are the only family in the world that can take another's Skill, that is why they are feared. It is impossible to completely seal a skill or loss it permanently that's if you're not a Greymen. I personally have no idea if it is true or not or if they can steal skills. To me in a way, it sounds just like a ghost story to scare little kids to sleep. However, when they first left for the battlefield the world changed. This led to details about the skill becoming a secret. which led to their equipment being widely sot after not just for their name and quality but the fear the emblem held.
I picked up the case and then showed the shopkeeper that I had made my choice. The shopkeeper looked on with soul-less eyes, personally, I don't know what he was thinking at that moment but my best guess ran along the lines of (you just had to choose that one). This was only confirmed to me by the next line he said, "I have no idea how that one got in the box but I am a man of my word and I get the feeling my daughter would want a wimp like you to have it any.". I felt my heart skip a beat I have to ask if it was true "you're a Greymen?". If yes many questions then the dame holding back of the question of the world would break my body took initiative making it all too clear of my intention "you live and I will answer as many as you want.". I took one of the metal business cards that he had in a holder next to the register they look expensive but only had a street address and his name nothing else. After the exam, I would have to go over to his shop and get some more information about some more personal stuff I looked at the clock to see I only had about five minutes until the exam started. The only thing that was going through my mind was the fact that Chase was nowhere to be found. It was a hard decision, but it was either I get going while holding on to his card until we meet again. The fact was that I had no choice I couldn't risk everything for a promise from Chase it was just then Chase walked back into the shop.
In his same straightforward cheery smile that I had known to see on his face from time to time after he had just gotten a good deal on something. As soon as he walked in chase went directly to the shopkeeper and took his card credit card back then once again we were on our way to the gate. The smell was starting to get to me again but that would not last long, Chase had come throw on his promise but his words came after he handed me the tin foiled burrito "the burrito was ten dollars pay me back after you get the money." Even if we both managed to get to the other side of the exam there was no way I was going to give him the ten dollars for a burrito anyway.
I looked to my right after Chase said that then replied to him "if I live I'm calling in that favor that I am owed". Chase just smiled at us as we rejoined the crowd it was rather noisy now I had the feeling that there were a lot of others that felt the same as me which is most had literal mountains of anxiety. Even if that was the way that I thought there was also never a single doubt in my mind for everyone fifteen people that felt that cough syrup anxiety one of them was just like Chase. These people are more imaginative than reality yet when that blood starts to fly they are the monsters on the field. I thought at the very least I had Chase in my corner but in reality, all I had was a beat-up old knife. I had been lost in thought in the last three minutes we had as Chase asked me an odd question in the middle of myself about to take a bit out of the burrito he had bought for me. "Ryan do know how many notable families are here this year ? I got word that the Tnee twins as well as one of the marry family direct members are participating in this exact exam.". I sighed before I took my first bit of the burrito, the taste of the burrito was something that I will never forget I know I had to be slow in eating it but if it weren't for the fact that I would probably throw it back up. In short, it was heaven in a single roll the eggs mixed perfectly with the warm bacon in a cloud of bliss. On the other hand, no matter how much I wanted to tear it apart I could not, it would also be quite rude to chase as well. "Chase I can confirm that the Tnee twins are here the sister tried to take my head off about an hour ago but I didn't know the Marry family had someone from the main part of the family in this exam.". I smiled again "if I don't know any better I would think that you are scared for once in your life."
