The figure of Haruki pray for his father makes Mio feel sad all of sudden. Thinking about his father condition and she needs to do as same as Haruki in the future is- damn she can't imagine she visit his father's grave.
It's heartbreaking for her.
"Are you okay?"
The sudden question from Haruki makes Mio flinch a little bit. She nodded to say she is okay even though she tried her best to not shed a tear at all. Again, she flinched when Haruki suddenly touch her hand and bring him a bit closer to her father's grave.
"Here, the friend I talk about just now. Her name is Mio Adachi. You know what she has the same situation as me, her mother does something awful to her just like her mother did to me and her father being a hero. Like you. Thanks for not abandoning me father."
Mio looked to Haruki after he tightens their hand. Similar to her, Haruki tries their best to not shed a tear. Unexpectedly, Mio bows and smile then her eyes staring at Haruki eyes before she looked back at the grave again.
"Thank you for taking care of Haruki as best as you can. As you can see, he is happy with his life right now and you don't need to worry. His foster family love him as you love your son. About his health, he is okay. Even you see he is skinny but doesn't worry, his metabolism is too high that makes he cannot gain any weight. Hahaha. Sorry for taking too long but I just wanna make sure that you will happy up there because my father will come to see you. Hope you guys can befriend me. Please pray for us to stay together."
A warm smile engraved on his face and he chuckled on a low note before the warm smile turns into a big smile.
With confidence and excited he says, "Do you hear what my friend said? I always get a feeling you're watching me. No need okay? I have them to take care of me, you need a rest. Today, I turn 18. I'm happy to celebrate my birthday with you."
Both of them bow to Haruki's father for the last time before they going back to Tokyo. Yeah, that's what Mio thought. They going back to Tokyo but Haruki already has his plan.
They walk together but Haruki stopped which makes Mio stopped too. He looking back to see what happen to Haruki and he could see tears falling from Haruki's eyes. He chuckled and wipe his tears before he shouts as loud as he can.
Then, he makes a hand sign to ask Mio to go without him. She ignored Haruki wishes and she jogs to get Haruki that was no too far from her. Automatically, Mio hugs Haruki and it makes both of their shocks.
They get silent for a while. Little by little, Mio's hand rubbed Haruki back and rested her head on Haruki chest.
In low not, she says, "You know what? You doing great today. Not only today, you doing great every day. I'm proud of you, even we know not too long, you're the best friend I have had so far."
Hearing Mio's talk, Haruki smile unconsciously and tighten their hug. He patted back Mio back and say, "Thanks for accepting me as your friend. You too, you're doing great to living in such a mess family but manage to take care of yourself and involved with something dangerous like me. About your father, you need to stay strong, show him that you're okay so will not be worried to leave you. I know you're not ready yet but you need to. Nothing in this world last long."
Haruki loosened their hugs and the bot of his hands touches both sides of Mio's cheeks. With a smile, he continued, "Don't worry. I will try my best to stay with you until my last breath. Under this cherry blossom, you can trust me."
"Me too, I will stay with you until my last breath. Even your future wife said I don't need to take care of you, I will too because I already make a promise with you."
"Then be my wife then."
Both become silent. Mio didn't expect Haruki replied and Haruki doesn't know why he said like that but in the depth of his heart, he kinda waiting for what kind of answer Mio will give. Their eyes meet, they laugh awkwardly. Mio face become red and Haruki neck become red too. They realized what they do and what they said to each other.
"Forget what I said." Haruki breaks the silence.
"Yeah me too. I think I'm drunk. Yeah that's better." said Mio with an awkward laugh so she can hide her embarrassment toward Haruki.
Instead of replied to Mio talk, he just walked and leave Mio behind. From behind, she could see well how red Haruki neck is plus Haruki face is so trouble when he said that word back then.
"So you can make that face too huh." Without her realized she smiles while his eyes still focus on Haruki neck and his troubled face. She didn't expect the result of their talk will be like this and to think she got to see a new side of Haruki is marvellous!
His sixth sense starts to alarm. Fast hurriedly he turns back and he sees Mio chuckled by himself. He tries to stay positive by thinking Mio is not thought about him and laughed like that because she was, it was embarrassing. He really wanna buried his face in the ground.
Can you imagine he says that word confidently and then he got flushed? One more, his entire face becomes red and he couldn't be staring at Mio at all.
"Hurry up or I'm gonna leave you." He shouts to Mio before he runs to the car while Mio can't hold her laughter anymore. She burst out laughing when she sees Haruki losing control. He even trips down.
"He is so cute."
