It's my first day working as the Fine Arts and Music professor at Hogwarts. I attended the sorting ceremony sitting with the other professors in the main hall. Unfortunately my class isn't a requirement to take, but I will prove that my class is important. Albus Dumbledore begins his speech to the first year students. While he was taking I noticed someone was staring at me as if he wanted me to notice. I think he wanted me to notice.
After the ceremony ended, Minerva (professor Mcgonagall) showed me where I was gonna be teaching. The room was as big as a lecture hall. This room looked like it can fit around 50 students in it. Seeing my classroom for the first time made me feel nervous, I didn't know what my future holds in this classroom, but I hoped it was something that I can fight for. After that Mcgonagall showed me my room that I was gonna sleep in. In the top left corner of my room their was a victorian bed with silky black pillows and sheets laying on top of it. I felt like I could sleep in that bed for days. Next to the bed was a big glass pane window where the moon and sun can shine through the whole room. on the right side there was some bookshelves and a small wooden table with a chair that matches. I love my room, it's perfect for me to paint in. before Minerva left I asked her who was the professor that was wearing a black cloak. "That's Severus Snape, he teaches a potions class. he's a good friend of mine. he is tough on the children, but once you get to know him he will start to show his true colors. Goodnight Ms. Lydia."
As the night passes I have trouble sleeping. Many thoughts were going through my mind about the school, the students, and about "him". I tried everything to fall asleep but nothing was working. My mind and body is being overflowed with anxiety. Maybe if I draw something it will help my distract my mind for a while. I wanted to get some fresh air too so I decided to go outside, but I don't know my way around this huge school so this is gonna be fun. the hallways were completely consumed by the darkness. I had to hug the walls just so I didn't trip over anything. it felt like an hour had passed, but I finally managed to find the outdoors. I picked out a tree to lay under that had some shade, and I decided to draw the moon in the night sky with glimmering stars around it.
If I had all the time in the world I would draw forever. I made some finishing touches to my drawing, then I started to make my way back to my room. I had no idea where I was going. I tried to retrace my steps, but it failed. At times like these it would easy for someone who had magic. They could just swish a wand and have a light, or a guide to show them where they needed to go. I may have no powers but I'm strong willed so I keep going. I hear a voice that sounded like it came from a painting on a wall, but that's impossible. the voiced muffled but I vaguely hear "He's coming".
I felt a presence behind me, so I turn around and it's him. The man that's been on my mind since I got here. I'm panicking in my mind. I don't know what to say or do. I decided in a quickly manner to introduce myself. "Hello my name is Lydia, Lydia Morningstar." On his face you can see his stern expression. His eyes were locked on mine. Even though he looks upset I strangely feel calm in his presence. "What are you doing roaming the halls after dark, Ms. Morningstar?" I start to tell him how I got into this situation, (except for the part when I was thinking about him of course). Plus I showed him the picture of the moon I drew and I think he liked it. "I will let this slide since your new, but if I catch you again there will be consequences." I nodded in agreement, then he started to guide me back to my room. When we arrived at my door I said "Thank you for showing the way back and next time call me Lydia ok? Goodnight" He responded by just walking away, but I have a feeling that he didn't know what to say. I enter my room and finally went to sleep.
I woke up and put on a black floral dress with a purple crystal necklace. I also slip on some sparkling black leggings. I thought about wearing high heels but I decided not to because I have to do alot of walking. I put on some black and white high tops and make my way to the classroom. I was nervous because I wanted the students to like me. Just because I'm a muggle I don't want the students to think I can't teach them anything. I take a deep breath and say that everything will be okay. I entered the classroom and their was around 20 students. I greet the students by saying "Good afternoon class. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask." One of the students rose their hand and asked "Do we have to take notes in this class?" I smiled and said "No ma'am you do not need to take notes in this class". I explain that I want to unlock their potential by discovering themselves through art and music. As time goes by the more I teach the class the more I feel relaxed and confident with my teaching. At the end of the class I give the students their first homework assignment. I tell them to draw anything they wanted. They also had to explain why they drew it, how it makes them feel, and how do they relate to the drawing. When the class ends the students leave and I stay at my desk and create new ideas for projects that the students can do.
A few hours go by and a northern hawk owl flies onto my desk. I grab the note that was in his beak and I pat him on the head. I open the note and it's a poem called A dream within a dream by Edgar Allen Poe. When I read the poem I started to blush as my heart begins to pound. The poem is from Severus. I wanted to show him how much I fell in love with his words by respond with a poem called In the Forest by Oscar Wilde. I also drew a doe next to the poem to show even more gratitude that I have for him. Severus's owl stayed on my desk the whole time it took me to write my poem. I think he knew what I was going to do. I give the owl my note and he flies away.
A week has passed and I haven't seen or heard from Severus. I'm starting to get worried. I just have to think logically here. If he had disappeared his class would of notified someone by now. Which means he has been attending his classes, but something feels wrong. I could tell that when I met him that he is depressed. His hair looked like it hasn't been washed for a while. He had bags under his eyes so he hasn't had sleep for a while. He never speaks to anyone unless he absolutely has to. I don't want to assume but all of the signs are there. I go see Minerva to see if she can help me. I enter her classroom but I don't see her anywhere. all I see in her classroom is a few students and a brown striped cat on her desk. I call out to her, "Minerva!", but no one responded. I was about to leave when the cat turned into Minerva! "What the heck Minerva, you can turn into a cat, that's awesome!" She smiles and says "Thank you Lydia." We walk into the hallway and I explain the situation to her. her smile suddenly goes away. She tells me that she knows why Severus is depressed but she is not allowed to tell me. If he won't talk to me maybe he will talk to Minerva. They are friends after all he has to trust her judgement. I ask if she can deliver a message to him for me. "Tell him to meet me in the courtyard at midnight tonight when the moon is full. he will know what it means." she tells me good luck and walks away. I prepare for our meeting later that night. I put on a black lace dress with a pair of black lace stockings to match. I rap a black belt around my waist and slip on some knee high boots. I want him to see that I care. I want to fix him, my determination won't allow failure. I make my way to the courtyard, but before I wait for Severus I pick up a group of blue lily's that I saw on the ground. Then I sit on the edge of a fountain that is sitting in the middle of the courtyard and wait for him to show up. In this moment every second counts. Usually my anxiety would be all over the place but I know I can fix this. I will fix this. As I take my final breath to be calm I see Severus walking towards me. He looks furious, my body gets goosebumps from the sight of him. "I'm sorry if I offended you Severus, I thought that poem I sent you was nice." Severus stays silent for a moment as he thinks of what to say. "You have no idea how much pain I go through. I lost the person that I was closest to me from the most darkest force in the entire world. No muggle would ever understand how it feels to be me." As he talks he leans in closer to my face to try to intimidate me. I have to stay strong. "Your wrong Severus, I lost my mother when I was a child. She was my whole world. She was the only one their for me, and my only family I ever had. When she died I had to survive by myself. This world forces you to be alone. Unless you do something about it!" Out of no where Severus Slaps me across the face. I freeze in place not knowing what to do. Severus immediately regrets what he did. "I'm sorry. It was an impulse that I couldn't control. Without thinking I grab Severus by the chest, pull him close, stare into his eyes, and I kiss him.
