Lena awakens in a bright field, confused, two days after Arthur's arrival. She hadn't gotten the same lengthy explanation from Deus Ex Machina. The only message she had been left with was "go find your boyfriend, lol." written in the clouds by Deus Ex Machina. A bright light then shines over a city as a golden path appears for her with arrows guiding the way. She's guided to Liembol, a city southeast of Holiem where Arthur now resides. She is greeted kindly by the town guard and welcomed into the city where she finds a home already prepared for her. The townsfolk follow her, all chanting.
"Oh holy priestess. Guide us to the heavens with your blessed light." She soon becomes overwhelmed as she retreats into her new home where she's greeted by a small pixie.
"They're awfully loud, I don't like em' either. Lemme go scare the bastards off." The pixie floats out of the house as a small little yell is heard by Lena, "Get off of my property you rats! Scram!" The townspeople can only laugh as they all slowly begin to file back to their homes and businesses. "There, allll done. Oh yeah I never introduced myself, name's Lucy."
"Lucy, what is this whole priestess thing about?" Lena asks.
"Well there's a prophesized priestess that's supposed to fall from the sky blah blah blah. You fit the prophecy and now everyone's celebrating. Invaded my home too! Grimy bastards, but I guess you're welcome to stay in the guest room." Lucy replies as she floats around Lena's face.
"Thank you for letting me stay here Lucy. Anyway what else do you do around here?" Lena questions.
"Me? Well I don't do much in this city. People are a buncha dolts, Holiem is where all the cute guys are and they've got a ton of taverns. Really expensive though, but as the priestess you'll get a lot of things for free once word spreads." Lucy answers as she settles down onto a chair, growing in size till she's a couple inches shorter than Lena, "Come on I'll take you there. It beats staying here, now take my hand." Lena raises an eyebrow, but grabs onto her hand as they teleport to a statue. "Welcome to Holiem, home of the Sweet Bee Tavern and the Heracles Guild!"
"This is where all the fun is supposed to be?" Lena asks, raising an eyebrow at the Heracles guild before turning to the tavern, "What kind of food do they have in the tavern?"
"Anything you could think of? The chef has magic that can create any food from thin air, isn't that great!" Lucy exclaims as she skips to the tavern ahead of Lena.
"It sounds pretty nice, certainly useful." Lena replies as they enter the tavern taking a seat at the front where they're met by a brolic man.
"Welcome to Sweet Bee Tavern! What would you young ladies like to eat?" The man asks in a squeaky, child-like voice, unbecoming for a man of his stature.
"Two eggs, sunny side up. A glass of orange juice too, please." Lena requests as its materialized right in front of her.
"The usual." Lucy says with a smile as a mountain of steaks rises before her, but its gone in an instant as she swallows it whole before Lena even begins then falls asleep shortly after. Lena then finishes her meal and picks Lucy up, carrying her out as she heads towards the Heracles guild. To her surprise basically no one reacts when she enters, 'its comforting in a way when no one cares about what titles you hold' Lena thought as she continued through the halls to the receptionist.
"Adventurer ID?" The ask with the raise of an eyebrow as Lucy wakes up and hands hers forward, "She's with me." Lucy says as she leads Lena to the request board where they find a shouting young man with shining white hair and amethyst eyes. The boy is none other than Arthur Tempest, but Lena pays no mind as his appearance is completely changed from his earthly days.
"Every request is gone except for this stupid F rank one... DAMNIT!" He shouts as he takes it off the board, followed by Alice who simply sighs as they head to the exit, but they're stopped by Lucy who frowns as she stares down Alice.
"You... hmph, whatever my friend needs to see what a quest is like so we're gonna go with you."
"Kay'." Alice replies flatly as she leaves with Arthur, Lena and Lucy following behind them as they make their way to a mansion south of Holiem.
"All we have to do is find a cat so it shouldn't be hard with four of us." Arthur says as he knocks on the door. The door creaks open as a little old lady allows them in.
"Please find my cute little Henry, he's been hiding from me for days and I'm just lost without him!" The old lady pleas to the group, Lena is quick to give reassurance as Alice and Lucy have already sprung into action. After successfully reassuring the old lady Arthur and Lena split up searching their own quarters of the house. The house is incredibly clean with not many hiding spaces even for a cat, the group searches for hours clearing the entire mansion with no sign of the cat. A completely clean litter box and untouched food sits as they return back to the old lady.
"Are you sure it didn't leave the house?" Lena asks.
"There was no way for him to get out, he couldn't have!" The old lady shouts although she appears to be completely calm.
"Any attics or perhaps a loose floorboard?" Arthur asks the lady.
"My home is in tip-top shape, not a scratch on it! But we do have one attic... could you all please check it for me? He's a tricky one and might get away if you don't." The lady replies as the group heads into the attic to find it completely empty and freshly cleaned.
"I feel like we're being lead on a wild goose chase." Lucy says as she groans and lays on the floor. "There's obviously no cat here either, but we cant get the reward without a cat. Are any of you shapeshifters by cha-" Lucy is quickly cut off by Alice.
"If we did that and got found out our reputation would be ruined, but I doubt a dunce like you would understand that." Alice says, insulting Lucy in the process. Suddenly the attic is shut open as the laugh of the old lady is heard.
"Stupid fucking kids, there was no cat cause I'm the cat!" The lady says as the attic entrance is quickly burnt by Alice, interrupting any potential monologue.
"I already knew that, most of us did." Alice retorts as Arthur is still sitting dumbfounded.
"You guys knew- yeah I was totally thinking the same thing, you didn't fool anyone you hag!" Arthur shouts as he descends from the attic.
"I had three good sports, but one naughty child ruined it all... so disappointing. Leave, now." The cat says as the group leaves the mansion sighing. They return to the guild and get their reward, five gold coins each. Lucy flies back home irritated as the remaining three sort their money.
"It was a pleasure meeting the both of you." Lena says.
"Pleasure's all mine. Name's Arthur, Arthur Tempest." He says, reaching his hand out as Lena shakes it.
"Just call me Lena. I'll see you around Arthur." She says as she exits the guild, leaving the duo of Arthur and Alice.
"You're just as stupid as ever." Alice comments as she leaves to her room.
"Yeah, still as rude as usual." Arthur retorts as he exits the guild and goes to a place he'd never thought he'd go to, Church.
