The night was silent and still. Perfect for clearing her head.
She honestly didn't understand what would be so important that the girl would tell Benjamin and Dolion and not her.
But she wasn't jealous, make no mistake about it. She just...
Prim stopped abruptly. She sighed, and was shocked to see her breath misting before her. And suddenly the biting cold was lucid.
She wrapped her arms around herself and continued walking so she wouldn't freeze.
Just that morning it was warm enough to sleep outside. But now...
"Er, excuse me" Someone called from withing the shadows of the crowded buildings.
Prim spun around to see a skinny old man lumbering along the side of the road in her direction.
"Can I help you?" Prim asked. The man nodded.
"I'm having some trouble you see" Said the man pointing at his knee. Prim suddenly realized that the man was walking with a bit of a limp.
"Of course" She said making her way toward him.
She was almost to him when the roar of a dragon shook the ground beneath their feet.
Nyx appeared suddenly dark as night.
"Nyx! No!" Prim yelled. But the dragon was coming toward her so fast. Prim stumbled back and lost her balance.
She began to fall, But was caught before she hit the ground.
"This way" Said the old man pulling her to her feet and leading her away.
"No, she's-"
She glanced down at the man's leg as he ran. He had no limp.
Her heart began to pound as she tried to pull away, but his grip was like iron.
"Let me go!" She cried.
Tears stung her eyes as he dragged her along. "Let me go please!"
She screamed as the man whipped her forward causing her to trip over her own feet into another magic hole.
The fall was fast. Or maybe it wasn't.
All she could remember was hitting the ground.
When she opened her eyes, she could see she was in a room. The decor was red and black and a fire was burning in a grand fireplace at the end of the room.
The man was no where to be seen. She was alone in this room.
"Hello?" She called out. But she could hear nothing but the cracking of the fire.
All of the sudden a large door leading to what Prim assumed was further into wherever she was opened and the old man stepped into the room.
"Where am I?" She said angrily.
The man acted as if he didn't hear. Then suddenly he began to fade away. And the girl was standing in his place.
Prim laughed awkwardly when she realized that she wasn't actually being kidnapped.
"You..." She hesitated. Something was off. Something wasn't right.
"What is it Prim?" The girl asked inching toward her.
"Please" Prim said hurrying to her feet.
"What is it?" The girl asked with a confused expression.
Prim closed her eyes and opened them again. She didn't understand exactly what, or who she was looking at. It was as if there was a veil of some sort. Masking the girls true features. But now it was almost thin enough to see through.
The confusion was gone from the girl.
And that's when Prim asked the question that she would soon regret. "Who are you?"
The girl smiled that sweet, sincere smile of hers. "Your a smart girl-"
"-No" Prim whispered shaking her head.
"Prim"
"What?"
"I needed to know if there was someone who was strong enough"
"Strong enough to what?"
"To destroy me"
Suddenly reality began to sink in. Mazereth wasn't a him, it was a her. It was the girl. The same girl who had lead them so far. The same girl who has lead her into a trap.
"What are you going to do?" Prim asked. Once again, she would regret asking this question.
The girl shrugged. "Well, now that you know all of the secrets of my world I can't just let you go now can I?"
"So what are you going to do?"
"I'm going to give you a choice... You can either stay here and do my bidding. Or I'll just dispose of you"
"Meaning..?"
"Do I really need to explain?"
Prim shook her head.
"So those are my options? Become you or die?"
"Right"
