David was stoned on the spot while looking at Einne walked away from him. He lose his composure as rejection sinks in his system and can't believe how Coreen Lin who loved her easily dumped him over someone too.
A loud thud distracts him and it was Dmitri with his bag slung in shoulders. He was to ran after Einne but David's strong hands pulled him.
They faced each other while exchange long and cold stares and tension build between them. It was Dmitri who pushed David to break free from him.
"Stay away from her!" David warned him firmly as Dmitri turned his back at him.
"I should say the otherwise. You were a bother to begin with, brother." then he continued to ran after Einne.
David grit his teeth as he was reminded of Dmitri's existence. He was an insult to the Young family born out of affair with the older Young that almost cause to the brokenness of his parents. It was his existence to patch between their wounds and he couldn't accept such bastard will snatch away what was his and his alone.
"Are you okay?" It was Carmen, his caring and affectionate Carmen who always find him in his distressed self. He hugged her tight to feel the warmth he was longing for but he couldn't find it. Her caress seems cold and her sincere heart beating erratically for him bring him no satisfaction. He quickly break free from her embrace.
"Did something went wrong?" her warm eyes were supposed to bring him to his knees yet he can't explain why he started to loathe them. Those expressions he found special felt greedy to him.
"I'm fine. I have to go." Then he left her in mid-air without explaining at her as he was supposed to. Her pitiful look in the middle of the room replaced with contempt and dangerous jealousy.
"I had to get rid of her soon." she mumbled anxiously.
"Ms. Coreen Lin!" Dmitri called as he tried yo find traces of her around the campus. She was too fast to leave and he may not able to ran after her.
He called her name once more while looking at the crowd rushing and walking to and fro. Dizziness surges at him while trying to find at her in the crowd. He could hear ringing in his head and overwhelmed with unknown pain. Whispers of mockery from the crowd his ears that he need to cover them while trying to walk away from the crowd.
"Ms.... Corrr... Ah!" the ringing grew louder and louder that he was about to faint any moment. He can't stand in the crowd alone without her. He couldn't... A tug in his shirt interrupts his struggle that he looked who would it be. His pained expression were replaced by relief while looking at her serene face.
"I told you to call me Einne...," she suddenly looked worried while looking at him with that mess. "Dim you looked unwell! Let's go to the hospital!" and grabbed his hand and lead the way.
"I'm fine." he sounded and tried to put them on halt.
Looking at him sweating hard with cold hands, she knew he was not fine at all. It reminds her of how she used to have muscle cramps in the midst of her tedious overtime that nobody care if she collapsed. Everyone was so fixed in deadlines and last minute changes that she endured everyone of them alone.
"No! You don't look fine to me at all."
She tighten her grasp without thinking to let go. He might escape at her any moment knowing how gigantic his ego is. He looked like her piled paperworks, begging her to finish them quickly.
"Ms. Coreen!"
"It is Einne you dimwit and.." she paused and looked at his quizzical look. "I will answer what's on your mind later. Not until you were looking fine to me."
He just get along to wherever she takes him and his cold hands started to get warmed with her. He tried to hide his amusement as he was reminded her of a duck waddling in the pond with its chicks because she looked one to him.
