Vino looked at his wife, who was frozen in place. He couldn't move because Sarah was hugging him tightly. He could see that Vira's hand was gripping an expensive cellphone, her eyes deep and dark, her lips trembling.
How could this happen? His wife had just seen him being hugged by another woman right in front of her eyes. Vira had never openly said she loved him, but seeing this scene—her husband being held by another woman—hurt her in a way she could never have imagined.
"I knew you'd find me here. You're the best friend I've ever had, and you can't threaten me," Sarah's voice was hoarse, still crying drunkenly.
Her body swayed slightly, and if it weren't for Vino, she would've fallen. He caught her wrist.
"Vino, my head hurts. I think I drank too much. I can't drive. Will you please take me back to my apartment?" Sarah asked, gently stroking Vino's cheek.
