Chapter 31 - I am an exception!*

"Get out of my car!" Vino half-shouted, pointing at the empty road.

Vira gasped, still in disbelief that she had made her husband angry.

"I've been nice to you, and you think it's all nonsense? You don't think of me!" Vino grabbed his wife's wrist roughly, ready to cruelly leave her on the street.

Vira froze, her face flushing red. She was forced out of the car, the intensity of her husband's anger making her face pale. She hadn't realized that Vino could get so upset. Vira didn't even remember what she had said earlier.

Slam!

Vino slammed the door of the car and got behind the wheel, leaving her standing there, blank-faced.

"You bastard!" Vino grumbled under his breath, still upset.

He could still hear his wife's voice screaming behind the car and see her reflection in the rearview mirror. He gave a small grin, somewhat satisfied. She makes me so mad!

Vino slammed the steering wheel, frustrated. Why was he so angry? First, he didn't like what Vira had said, and second, he didn't like Hazel's smile at her.

Why do they seem so close? Vino thought irritably.

He'd spent a lot of money on her education, put her in a prestigious college, and now this?

"Why did that man go to the same campus?" he muttered to himself.

If he had known Hazel was going there, he wouldn't have enrolled her in the same place. He had bad feelings about his stepbrother.

"Shit!" Vino cursed again, pounding his fist on the steering wheel.

Vino noticed that Vira had left her bag in the car. With a frustrated sigh, he turned the steering wheel sharply and swerved, causing cars around him to brake suddenly. He drove back in the direction he had come from.

She pissed me off and made me mad, but she's my wife. Vino's thoughts were jumbled.

He slammed the brakes again when he saw his wife with Hazel.

His eyebrows furrowed, his face turned red, and his hands clenched into fists. He hit the steering wheel in frustration.

He watched Hazel walk over to Vira and give her a jacket to keep her warm on the windy streets. Vira's gloomy expression slowly turned cheerful, and now she was smiling at Hazel.

Hazel opened his car door for her like a gentleman, inviting her to enter, as if she were a princess.

Vino exhaled sharply.

You think he's such a nice guy, but he'll regret knowing what kind of person he is! Vino thought, his chest burning with jealousy.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you speeding and braking like that?!" Vira yelled, startled by Vino's erratic driving.

She had hit her forehead on the dashboard.

"If you want to die, don't invite me. I'm still young; my future is long!" She grumbled, rubbing her forehead in irritation.

Vira pursed her lips, annoyed by her husband's strange behavior.

"I'm sorry... sorry..." Vino muttered, a bitter smile on his face.

He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, noticing how many times he had apologized.

"Sorry for what? What's wrong with you? You're acting so weird!" Vira asked, suspicious.

"I'm sorry. I was very emotional and upset. I promise I won't be like that again." Vino pulled a tight smile, still embarrassed.

Vira couldn't understand her husband's behavior. "What's going on with you? Don't act like that. You're giving me the creeps!"

"Since earlier, I've noticed you've been stunned, then angry, then blank again. Occasionally, I hear you hiss. Are you sick?" Vira asked, concerned.

Vino fell silent.

"Say something. Do you need to see a doctor? Or, is something wrong with what I said? Did I offend you?" Vira asked, genuinely worried.

"If it's because of all that, I should apologize. You're a good man. I neglected your kindness, and I was wrong."

Vino sighed deeply, feeling guilty. His wife still sat in the passenger seat, and he couldn't help but laugh at himself.

Vino didn't want to see her sad face, but he didn't know what to do. He was still embarrassed by his overreaction.

"I'm not offended by your words," Vino said softly, his voice distant.

Vira raised her head, her forehead creased. "Then why do you look so angry and upset with me?"

Vino gave a cute smile, raising a hand as if to stroke her hair. He stopped midway, unsure, and pulled his hand back.

"If you're not mad at me, then... who are you mad at?" Vira asked, looking closely at his face.

Vino turned his gaze away, staring at the road ahead. He had to come up with an explanation.

His chest tightened as a strange tremor filled him.

His face flushed, and he couldn't meet her gaze.

Vino accelerated, the car speeding faster.

"Kyaaa!" Vira screamed in fear as she gripped the dashboard.

Vino's heart raced faster as he drove recklessly, ignoring his wife's protests. He tried to suppress the feeling in his chest, but it only grew.

"Damn it!" Vino's mind screamed, struggling with what he was feeling.

"Vino, let me out here! I don't want to die yet!" Vira shouted.

Vino slammed on the brakes, the car screeching to a halt.

He turned to her, his gaze blank.

"Vira..." he whispered softly, making her glance at him in surprise.

"Have you ever fallen in love?" he asked, his voice deep and serious.

Vira frowned, confused. "What are you talking about?"

Vino placed a hand on his chest, feeling his heart beat hard.

"Vino, did you just get dumped by a woman?" Vira asked, her voice uncertain.

Vino turned his head slowly to face her. His eyes were dark and intense.

"Do you think a woman would dare to dump me?" His voice was flat, but Vira could hear the arrogance in his tone, making her want to vomit.

"Mmm..." Vira muttered sarcastically, her face contorted in annoyance.

Vino's eyes sharpened as he waited for her response.

"As you've said, no woman would ever dump you. You're a great man, perfect. Only the perfect woman deserves you." Vira replied diplomatically with a small smile.

"I know it!" Vino whispered confidently. Who would dare reject him?

"Therefore, I'm not one of the women who would accept you. I'm the exception!"

Vino's smile vanished instantly.
