Maxwell sat down beside her and held her hands.
"we were once engaged truly but she is not my first love or anything. She is just like a sister to me" he tried explaining.
"of course she is your fiancee but not your first love. Does that make any sense. Why will you be engaged to her without loving her?" she asked angrily.
"we were engaged since we were kids. Its just our parent wishfully thinking. But its did not work out so we break it off" he explained again.
"really? Why don't I believe you? Who is your first love then?" she asked and face him. Maxwell did not want to tell her that he actually fell in love with her five years ago.
"why don't we leave that topic. There is really nothing between us" he said.
"will you tell me or should I just leave" she said and get up to leave. Maxwell quickly stood up to hold her back.
"fine, its you" Sonya look at him still made to leave.
"I already said its you, why do you still want to leave"
"do you think I will believe you. How can I be just first love" she said not buying his words.
"Don't you remember meeting a guy at some party and saving him five years ago?" He asked
"What five years ago?" She also asked confused
"Now that I think about it you never bother to ask me how I knew it was you I've been chatting with"
"Isn't it obvious you probably saw me using the app in the office"
"I did not, you told me yourself years back and even thought I was a pervert" he explained again while Sonya raise her hand up to stop him from talking.
"Wait a minute, it's not what I think it is right? You are that pervert from the other day!" She exclaimed shocked

"Oh my God! I never..." She stopped short of words
"no wonder, I keep thinking that you look familiar" Sonya exclaimed.
"but wait, you liked me since then. Why? You don't even know me well" she asked.
"do you believe in love at first sight" he said.
"so you fell in love with me at first sight. I don't believe it" she said and remembered something.
"so then who was your mom and Evelyn talking about then" she asked.
"you are the one, I mean the girl who saved me then. They know you as the girl who saved me back then and not as Sonya" he answered. Sonya smile happily to herself.
"you are no more angry now right" Maxwell said and turn her face him completely.
"its not like am angry. I was just pissed off" she replied grinning.
"and again, why is she is my room? And you obviously know that she was here. Thank goodness I came here without telling you or I wont be able to see another woman who is trying to steal my man" she said and remove her hand from maxwell's.
"she is really like a sister. And am sure she does not mean any of her words. I know Joyce very well, she was just kidding with you" he said in Joyce defense.
"really? Of course you will defend her, isn't she once your fiancee" she reply getting angry again at his words.
"you know that's not what I meant" he said to defend his intention.
"am just saying she is not someone like that"
"of course I understand you. Am the weird one for getting angry when I saw another woman in my man's house. How will you know if she is like that or not. Am a woman so I can understand a fellow woman more than you. She obviously wants to make me angry and provoke me" this is the second time she called him his man. Maxwell smiled and chuckled like a child who was given a candy.
"why are you smiling? Does it look like am acting right now?" she said angrily
"nothing, I just don't know that you are such a jealous girlfriend" he said to tease her instead.
"what nonsense are you saying? Am not jealous am just.. defending my man"
"I understand" Maxwell interrupted her.
"yes of course. A woman should always stand up for what is hers" she stuttered.
"so do you find those who tried to harm you back then?" she asked to change the topic."no, whoever it is leave no evidence at all" he explained. "I thought it was strange for a rich man like you to use app like xxx but it turns out that you had a motive behind it, you joined just to pursue me"
"yea, and I achieved it' he said playfully.
"that reminds me back then i recorded the voices of those who tried to harm you. it was a girl and a guy, i kept it somewhere but am sure i will be able to dig it out. when i do, i will bring it to you" she said.
"really? that will be really helpful" he replied. After sometime, Sonya check the time and realize that time is far spent.
"I think I will have to leave now. Time is far spent" she said to him.
"I thought you are staying overnight. You are done with your exams, aren't you?" he asked not willing to part with her soon.
"I told you I have another appointment today"
"what appointment? With who?"
"a date with my roommates and Simon. Actually the thing is that loveth likes Simon, so she ask for my help to make their relationship work. We are even planning to go camping after exams" she explained.
"camping?why didn't you tell me anything about it?"
"sorry, its must have skipped my mind" she apologized.
"okay then, whatever you are going to need for it, I will take care of all the expenses"
"no, you really don't have to do that. We can take of that" she said rejecting his offer.
"am not asking. And besides, as your man I think something that little should be taken care of by me. I will just use the opportunity to treat you guys" he said and Sonya accepted.
"okay fine then I wouldn't hesitate to spend then" she said jokingly. And Maxwell stood up and went to his drawer and bought out a credit card.
"you can use this" he said and hand it over to her.
"and don't be quick to reject it. Its for everything you will need to buy for the camping" he said before she could return it and Sonya force the words back down her throat.
"so is Simon also interested in her or not" he asked curious.
"I think so, cause loveth makes it quite obvious that she likes him and he did not try to push her away. So I can say that's a sign that he is also interested in her right?" she said not sure
"I have to go now or they might get angry at me for spoiling things" she said and stood up to leave.
"wait up for me. I will quickly freshen up and go with you, that way we can have our date altogether" he said and walk towards the bathroom. Sonya wanted to disagree but decided against it. She went out and sat down at the living room to wait for him. Maxwell came out in less than thirty minutes looking very different and more handsome than when he was putting on a suit. He wore a light green t-shirt and jeans trouser. Sonya use her eyes to follow him from the stairs till he got to where she was.
"why are you looking at me like that?" he asked.
"do you know the main reason I like you?" she asked instead. "you are very handsome! I must have saved a nation in my previous life to land sure a handsome man like you" she said and touch his face like she wanted to eat him.
"okay, you are creeping me out, stop it" he said and removed her hands from his face. And held his hand for them to leave. Sonya hissed disappointed at him. They got into his car and drove off to her apartment. They got there and met everyone already waiting for them. Sonya quickly open the door and quickly went to them. "am sorry" she said and Simon immediately move to her and put on a cardigan for her and muffler.
"where you are coming from? I told not to go around without putting on thick clothes. Have you forgotten that you catch cold easily?" he scolded her in a caring manner.
