Chapter 2 - ICE

Cold! It all started with the cold, while the entire cottage shook with strong winter winds threatening to pull off the roof, a young girl barely 10years of age with beautiful silver hair and eyes so blue they could mimic the deepest oceans, sat on the bedside of a worn out bed. On which lay a middle aged woman who looked tired and sick, she would have been a great beauty in the past but right now sickness and time had dealt seriously with her. Her name was Rena and right now she had died but a few minutes ago.

Tera could not understand why her mother's body felt so cold, why it refused to budge no matter how much she pushed, why she refused to open her eyes.

She had been crying and now she had no more tears to cry, she just wanted the pain to stop and while she stared blankly at the worn out bedsheets the memories of the past flashed through her eyes. Rena her mom was born to a a low noble family who lived at the outer edges of the Wallingford kingdom. Her father Micheal Hasce was disappointed that his first child was a girl but that changed when she was two years old. The mana orb a device used to determine an individuals¹¹¹1aaqq0 attribute shone with a green light as white runes light up above the orb telling a story that none could read. The green signified her affinity for plant magic, a frown had begun to appear on her father's face when the green light flickered changing immediately to a bright white, Rena hair black to blue and the mana orb glowed white with purple runes appearing above it telling an entirely different story. It was that day that Michael Hasce faith begun to change, due to Rena's changes the priest deduced that she was a catalyst. An individual born without the ability to use any attributes except mana itself but with a unique physique which allowed the to give birth to individuals with crazy amounts of mana. They were naturally weak because they could only use mana in it raw form, but their physique made them very special and attracted all sorts of attention, from the first moment of its discovery marriage request and the likes from very important individuals begun to flow in and working with this new found attention Micheal was able to go from a low noble to a high noble in 20 years.

But as with all good things it all ended when Rena eloped with her guard leaving the Count of Nashville at the altar, she ran but was later caught by her father who was more than livid the guard was killed and the wedding was rescheduled but then she was found to be with child. So the wedding was once again canceled and the Count having been disgraced more than once withdrew his investment from the Hasce along with them suffering other repercussions. Rena was thrown out and she had to rely on herself to train her child and survive.

For someone who had always lived in luxury for a better part of her life, adapting to a life of poverty was extremely hard but she had to pull through for her child. She worked as a maid for a noble house, doing all forms of menial jobs just to make ends meet but during that time a plague broke out and she fell sick. The rest of the story was already known to Tera, the little girl who had just lost her mother.

The little cottage which once felt like home now looked very empty, although the space was small the empty space felt so big to little Tera. Loneliness crept in slowly into her heart but she remembered her mother's last words;Tera you don't know how proud i am of the young you are growing into and that's why even when mom's not around i want you to kept living, survive Tera that's all mom wants you to do survive and live a good life.

Tera made a decision day, she steeled her heart and decided that she would survive, no matter the cost and live a good life not only for her self but also for her mom. It was at that moment that she noticed the cold in the room was unnatural all around her, through all the nooks and cranny of the cottage on the floor and even on the roof every thing was encased in ice, extremely thick, extremely cold ice...
