I groaned as I silently complained about today. Clara was doing my hair as I looked at the mirror infront of me.
"do I really have to do this?" I complained once more, sighing every now and then. this was such a pain in the arse.
Clara chuckled, "yes young miss, my lady and master had said so them self." she continued to put my hair in elegant but neat curls.
"but why must I meet the crown prince?!" I complained groaning in despair. I wanna run away again.
"I'm not sure young miss," she smiled resting her hands on my shoulders. "I'm sure they have something important to speak of. probably about marriage."
I jumped from my seat, "MARRIAGE?! BUT I'M ONLY TWELVE!"
Clara rubbed the back of her head chuckling nervously, "it's pretty normal young miss. my lady and master had been married by the age of thirteen." she smiled.
I, however stood still and flabbergasted. my jaw almost hitting the floor from surprise. THEY WERE ONLY CHILDREN!
a knock interrupted us, the door opened to reveal my mother in a beautiful pastel pink gown. "oh my!" she admired clamping her hands together, "you look so beautiful, my dear."
I stared at her unable to look at her the same way after finding out about her and father's age when they had been wed, "thank you mother." I said through gritted teeth and raised eyebrows.
"the pastel blue gown really suits you, young miss." Clara complemented me with a smile.
"you outdid yourself Clara," praised mother and taking my hand in her's, "your father is waiting for us in the study room. we must leave now."
sending a small nod to mother, Clara escorted us to the study room.
"mother, why exactly are we meeting up with the emperor and the crown prince?" I voiced with my eyebrows quirked upward.
she giggled, "you'll know once we get there." I stared at her giggling form strangely. Why does she seem so happy and giggly about this matter? Am I missing something?
Sigh. Can't anyone just leave me alone? All I wanted wad peace and quiet now look where I am!
we arrived in front of the study room minutes later. The door opened and there my father was casually talking to his majesty and the crown prince.
"Ah," the emperor smiled, getting up from his seat and greeting mother and I as we bowed showing our respect, "you are finally here Devina. Oh must I say Mara grew to be a beautiful young lady."
I felt sweat form in the back of my neck, this man does not pass the vibe check at all!
"it is an honour your grace," I quietly replied. The emperor laughed and waved us off, dismissing us to take a seat. Clara remained outside as mother and I sat next to father.
I stared at the emperor's pale white skin, silver gray hair and charcoal black eyes. He had a strange appearance that's for sure.
the prince was the exact carbon copy except for his glowing red blood like eyes that was staring straight into my eyes. I felt a shiver run up my spine.
his eyes were cold and it's so scary. why are you looking at me?! look somewhere else, you punk! I desperately looked anywhere but the crown prince.
"Now that's out of the way," the emperor took a sip from the tea that the maid had serve him, "shall we discuss about our deal?" a creepy smirk played onto his lips. yep this man does not pass the vibe check at all.
"yes, your grace." father replied shortly with a court nod of his head, "but I believe we should wait for the both of them to grow much older before the marriage."
"hmm," the emperor hummed, closing his eyes whilst tapping his chin, "I believe so."
wait— did they say marriage? my face paled I was barely thirteen why are they planning to marry off? No! this is where my life ends! it hasn't even started yet!
I could barely hear their voices as it came out muffled through my ears, I looked at the floor with my eyes wide open. No way in hell am I getting married!
"Mara?" I snapped out of my thoughts as my mother's voice called out for me. I looked up and saw her giving me a worried gaze, "are you alright?"
I forced a smile and nodded my head. "yes, sorry about that mother."
"the both of you should get to know each other." I hear the emperor say as my parents nodded agreeing to the idea. I opened my mouth to say something but was kicked out the study room with the crown prince in tow instead.
an awkward silence rolled as the crown prince and I just stood there staring at each other's eyes.
"uhh hi?" I awkwardly ask. The crown prince sneered at me causing Clara to nudge my side. I looked at her, she was sweating nervously watching the exchange.
"what?" I asked her with raised eyebrows.
"you are a lady, however you don't even know how to speak like one." the crown prince voiced glaring at me coldly.
I grew an irk mark and walked infront of the crown prince our nose almost touching. Clara panicked as the two knights that were escorting the prince flinched and grabbed ahold of the hilt of their sword.
"I don't care who the hell you think you are," I yelled at his face as he looked at me with wide eyes and a shocked look, "but you can't tell me what I can and can't do!"
I stomped away from him as Clara followed after me, "you are such an arrogant twat of a bastard!" I yelled walking away from the crown prince angrily. By this time Clara was pale and ghostly walked after me with a shrunken face.
"Young miss!" she whispered yelled as we were away from the crown prince sight, "did you seriously just curse at his majesty!"
I huffed crossing my arms angrily, "he deserves it, such an arrogant boy like him shall not step on me."
Clara's form kept on fidgeting nervously, does she think I'll be executed for speaking to the prince or something? he's just a prince who uses words, but I am a modern woman who WILL use violence even if it cost my head.
...
"your majesty that girl just cursed you," Grace said as the grip on her sword tightened, "shall we follow after her?"
the prince silently stared at the direction the raven dark haired girl walked off to, he had a smirk tugging his lips upwards. Oh how he finds her an interesting piece of chest piece that he'd be playing to get the emperor's seat.
waving his hands he announced, "don't, I find it entertaining. I might keep bugging her if she gives me the same reaction as before."
putting a hand on his chin he whispered, "truly an interesting woman." he smirked.
she's going to have a huge role in taking over the emperor's position and favour that's for sure. He knew he needed to keep an eye on her, his triumph card.
