I swung first. I struck the drunkard with enough force to make him bounce off two other tables before crashing into a random group of demons.
"What the-?!" [Random Red Demon]
"Hey! Watch it!" [Another Random Red Demon]
Why are so many of them red? Wait, was that racist? Uh… Putting that aside, the drunkard blinked twice out of confusion and switched gears to being furious.
"You've done it now, Squirt." [Drunkard]
He got up and spit out some blood to the side.
"You're a tough cookie, I'll give you that." [Solace]
The drunkard didn't even stand. All he did was take a look at his friends beside me.
"What are the lot of you doing? Get him." [Drunkard]
I now had three guys swing at me, excluding the guy who backed off from before.
"Oh brother." [Solace]
I ate the hits like it was nothing. I mean, they basically were. Their levels were around sixty so it was like slapping my face with a napkin.
"Naught but an itch." [Solace]
I've always wanted to say that. Other than that, I hit all three with the meanest backhand. They all folded backwards from the force behind my fist.
"E-Eek!" [Burly Demon]
The only one of the drunkard's friends that didn't attack me veered away from me. Even when he was bigger than the rest, he tried his best to make himself small and sneak away.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you if you leave me alone." [Solace]
I gave him a smile thinking it would make me seem nice. Turns out, it had the opposite effect seeing that he ran out of the guild in a hurry.
"Cowards!" [Drunkard]
He picked himself off the ground and rushed at me.
"|Hammer of Fury|!" [Drunkard]
His arm doubled in size and turned red. Oh wait, nevermind. The drunkard was already red.
"|Revolving Shell Arts|." [Solace]
With a flick of a wrist, I made him eat his own fist.
"Agh!" [Drunkard]
He stumbled back, bumping into people and a nearby table.
"The hell was that…?" [Drunkard]
The drunkard wiped his nose, realizing that he was bleeding.
"...What level are you?" [Drunkard]
"Why don't you try to guess?" [Solace]
The drunkard let out a dissatisfied growl. As he began to approach me again, someone stepped between us.
"That's enough." [???]
A gray skinned demon with an eyepatch on his left eye made himself known. There were tusks that protruded from his lower jaw, and hair slicked back as if he had hair gel. The gray demon wore very refined clothing, somewhat similar to a suit, but made of leather. He even had a tie.
("Who's this guy?") [Solace]
For a second, I thought this guy was the drunkard's boss.
"...Yes, Guildmaster." [Drunkard]
Turns out, he was. Judging from the title, the gray demon might also be my boss.
"You two, come to my office." [Guildmaster]
The drunkard kept his head down as we followed the Guildmaster upstairs. We passed the dorms and went up to the fourth floor where there was a double door leading to the office. Inside was actually pretty simple. The walls had a ton of shelves with diamond shaped indents to hold countless scrolls, and there were tables and seats for meetings in the middle of the room. At the back was a large desk with several writing tools like quills and ink.
"Have a seat." [Guildmaster]
The drunkard and I took seats opposite of each other. On the other hand, the Guildmaster sat at his personal desk.
"Now, mind telling me what this was all about?" [Guildmaster]
Just as I was about to open my mouth, the drunkard took the lead.
"Guildmaster! You have to help me! This kid suddenly started attacking me and my party!" [Drunkard]
"Wha-?!" [Solace]
The gray demon raised a brow at me.
"Is this true?" [Guildmaster]
"No, I-" [Solace]
"He's lying, Guildmaster! The boy is a vicious liar!" [Drunkard]
So this was happening. I thought things were going awry until the Guildmaster raised his hand.
"Quiet. Let him speak." [Guildmaster]
That shut the drunkard up. I gave the Guildmaster my side of the story where I was attacked upon entering the guild along with how I confronted them about it. After telling him my story, the Guildmaster went silent.
"Hm… Alright." [Guildmaster]
He turned towards the drunkard.
"You tell me what happened now." [Guildmaster]
"Y-Yes sir." [Drunkard]
He gave some kind of super embellished story of what happened. According to him, I walked in with my friends and declared myself to be the strongest. I then challenged everyone within the guild. In order to stop me, the drunkard and his friends stepped up to stop me. Thus, resulting in what the guildmaster saw in me beating them up.
"I see." [Guildmaster]
He tapped his fingers on his desk for a bit.
"For now, you two will be imprisoned." [Guildmaster]
"What?!" [Drunkard]
I wasn't too surprised. Honestly, I expected to be the one in the wrong. That's usually how novels go anyway.
"I will gather testimonies to fact check. Afterwards, you will be released. That is, if you aren't guilty." [Guildmaster]
"Huh." [Solace]
That wasn't so bad.
"We will also need to verify your identities first." [Guildmaster]
Nevermind. They might find out I'm human.
