Chapter 139 - I Just Did An Oopsie

("...Can I really win this?") [Solace]

I spat out a few curses in my mind.

("This guy has an overwhelming amount of unique skills. Is this what happens if you become a hero?") [Solace]

It was pretty unfair to be honest.

"Let's begin." [Wilharrow]

He then drew his sword and stuck it into the floor tiles.

"My floor!" [Ms. Ross]

"|Zone Creation|." [Wilharrow]

My surroundings vanished, leaving me and Wilharrow standing in a white space.

"...Where is this?" [Solace]

"My |Zone|. I created a new space for our duel." [Wilharrow]

"Bruh." [Solace]

There's no way this dude casually made a new dimension just for us to fight.

("I think I may need to get serious about this.") [Solace]

I quickly pulled out my Vermillion Eclipse.

"...Are those your choice of weapons?" [Wilharrow]

"Yeah. Never seen a martial artist before?" [Solace]

"I admit, I have never fought one before. This may prove a challenge." [Wilharrow]

Saying that, he raised a hand. A beam of rainbow light bore down into his palm, leaving a golden sword in its wake.

("NAHHHH, this guy has special effects?!") [Solace]

The sword was built like your typical straight sword. It had a sleek design to it with the only major decoration being a sun carved into the guard. My first impression was that it was very plain and shiny.

"...What is that?" [Solace]

"My divine weapon." [Wilharrow]

"Why does it look so plain?" [Solace]

Wilharrow's expression softened.

"I'm simply too weak to use it's true form." [Wilharrow]

That most definitely rose a flag. I bet that even if I were to beat him, this guy would power up and unlock the divine weapon's hidden power or something.

("Let's just get this over with.") [Solace]

"Alright. Come at me." [Solace]

I wagged a finger at him.

"...Truly?" [Wilharrow]

"The hell do you mean "truly"? I'm telling you to make your move am I not?" [Solace]

Wilharrow smiled.

"You're very interesting." [Wilharrow]

He raised his sword.

"|Blazing Trail|." [Wilharrow]

He zoomed towards me, leaving a burning black line behind him.

("Damn he's fast!") [Solace]

As I carefully watched his movements, I readied myself to counter.

"|Revolving Shell Arts|." [Solace]

I quickly turned his sword towards him before he could even swing. Wilharrow had a surprised expression when he first saw it, but didn't even bother to dodge.

"That's a neat trick." [Wilharrow]

Is what he said after his sword bounced off his chest.

"Eh?!" [Solace]

Now that was a first.

"What is your body made of?!" [Solace]

"Divine weapons can't harm their users!" [Wilharrow]

Wilharrow informed me as he punched my face.

"Ow." [Solace]

It didn't really hurt that much. On the other hand, Wilharrow backed away and took a sharp breath.

"Oooh…!" [Wilharrow]

He flailed his hand as the knuckles turned red.

"What are YOU made of?!" [Wilharrow]

"A few things. Persistence is one of them!" [Solace]

I kicked him in the gut, causing him to roll back.

"Urgh…!" [Wilharrow]

He clutched his stomach as he positioned himself onto one knee.

"Now that's a first. Never had I ever been forced to take a knee that fast." [Wilharrow]

"There's a first for everything." [Solace]

We both grinned. I don't know why, but I felt some kind of companionship with this guy.

"Again." [Wilharrow]

"Ladies first." [Solace]

"I've never heard of such a thing!" [Wilharrow]

He conjured a ball of fire within his palm.

"|Summon Flame|!" [Wilharrow]

Wilharrow then threw the ball of fire at me, which I canceled out with a |Liquid Bullet|. Little did I know, Wilharrow was hiding a |Holy Ray| behind it.

"Oh damn." [Solace]

Were the words I uttered as I saw a blinding light coming straight towards me.

"Nope." [Solace]

I leaned back enough to evade the beam. It was pretty cool cause I only went far enough to feel the heat of his ability.

"Well that was close." [Solace]

I righted myself just to see a Wilharrow's divine weapon mere inches away from my face.

"Woah!" [Solace]

I ducked under and countered with a few punches. Of course, something that simple was merely blocked with his sword and he tried to sweep me with his foot. Sadly for him, something like that wouldn't make me budge so I just took the hit and elbowed his face.

"Urgh!" [Wilharrow]

He spun from the blow, allowing him to come back with a pommel strike to my ribs.

"Oof!" [Solace]

Now THAT hurts. It didn't feel like it had enough momentum to do some damage, yet it still had me reeling in pain.

"|Vortex Arts|!" [Solace]

My fist twisted in a way that shouldn't be possible, turning it into something similar to a spinning bullet.

"|Light Slash|!" [Wilharrow]

He did an upward swing that connected with my fist. I sadly lost that trade since my hand was the one that bounced back.

("Should've expected that of a skill at level 12!") [Solace]

Compared to his status, his skills were at a higher mastery. Good thing I also had the advantage of more skills.

"|Enchant Flame|!" [Solace]

Fire coiled around my arms, forcing Wilharrow to make distance. That is, if I let him.

"Where do you think you're going buddy?" [Solace]

I raised a wall behind him with |Earthen Shield| and leapt towards him.

"|Burning Fist|!" [Solace]

As I came forward, Wilharrow sliced a chunk off of the wall and threw it at me.

"Bruh." [Solace]

I, of course, deflected it. In turn, Wilharrow buffed himself with |Physical Boost| and |Agility Boost|. He probably meant to end it here and now, but I guess my cursed gauntlets had something else to say.

"Kill him." [???]

Once again, my body was taken over. It's been a while since I've done this.

"Huh?" [Wilharrow]

His eyes went wide with shock as my body made movements known not even to myself. It was like I was fighting as a man possessed. Oh wait, I was.

"What the-?!" [Wilharrow]

My body cornered Wilharrow. Everytime he guarded, it was against a feint. Everytime I attacked, my fist rang true. Whenever he tried to evade, Wilharrow found himself trapped.

"Slay the hero!" [???]

Whispers echoed in my mind. Images of three men appeared. The first was a man wielding a blue spear. The second was a man dyed in crimson. The third was a man sitting upon a lofty throne. All accompanied by a deep hatred.

"How are you doing this?!" [Wilharrow]

There was a short pause within my movements, as if I was preparing a powerful strike.

("Let the false shepherd face retribution.") [???]

My body veered forward, moving only slightly. Within an instant, I found my elbow and fist sinking into Wilharrow's body.

"Huh…?" [Wilharrow]

My fist and elbow were so deep that it could kill someone. It was only until then that my senses returned.

"Oh… oh crap! Wilharrow! Are you dead?!" [Solace]

I retreated in a panic. I saw the hero fall, leaving behind two gaping holes where I just hit him.

"...I really need to stop getting possessed like that." [Solace]
