I followed Master's instructions and returned to Fina's side. I traveled a great distance in my ball-like spirit form, peering through the window.
("Wow, looks like they're pretty busy.") [Solace]
Fina's door hung open as she sat by a desk. It appeared that she was reading a book out of boredom since there were guards standing outside her door.
("Guess I'll go in.") [Solace]
I gently nudged the window open and entered, completely forgetting that there was a magic alarm placed by the butler.
"Guards! Check the window!" [???]
I heard the butler's voice echo from inside the manor, causing the guards by the door to rush inside. Luckily, I was fast enough to turn invisible since I was already close to Fina.
"...What are you guards doing?" [Fina]
The guards ignored Fina as they swept the room.
"Nothing suspicious!" [Guard]
The butler entered the room, scanning it as he walked. He traced a finger along the window, checking for any clues.
"Hm…" [Butler]
Rubbing his fingers together, he motioned to the guards and left. The guards looked at each other with confused looks.
"What was that?" [Guard]
One of the guards seemed a bit talkative considering the other just shrugged as they returned to their posts.
"..." [Fina]
Remaining silent, Fina turned back to her book and flipped through it with a sigh.
("She doesn't look too good.") [Solace]
As I thought that, a little spirit appeared by her side.
("Huh?") [Solace]
Another ball-like spirit flew cheerfully by Fina's side, causing her to smile.
("Wait. That's me!") [Solace]
It was my |Doppelganger|. I had completely forgotten I had that skill on.
("I should turn that off.") [Solace]
Shutting the skill off, I made myself appear as it vanished.
"Eh? What did you…?" [Fina]
She blinked twice at me before making a strange face.
"Am I hallucinating…?" [Fina]
Rubbing her eyes, Fina closed the book she was reading. She then leaned back in her chair and rested her eyes.
("Was she confined to this room the entire time when I was gone?") [Solace]
Her situation was starting to sink in. While I had been gone for a few months, Fina was trapped in this room.
("Just a few more days. I'll stop this wedding.") [Solace]
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
After the manor prepared for about three more days, the promised wedding arrived. Fina was rushed to change into a white dress and taken into a carriage to who knows where.
("I wonder how the marriage traditions go in this world?") [Solace]
Fina had someone doing her makeup in the carriage before placing a white veil over her head. I was somewhat disappointed to see that some of the cultures were similar to that of earth.
("What was I even expecting?") [Solace]
About twenty to thirty minutes later, the carriage came to a stop. The carriage doors swung open as a servant led the way, revealing a pure white building in front of us.
("...It looks like a church. Is it a church? I'm gonna call it a church.") [Solace]
The church was massive. I hadn't yet seen what the inside looked like, but the outside garden had already impressed me.
("Where's Leyhna? Wasn't she supposed to appear around now?" [Solace]
Chimes played as people lined the way for Fina to enter the church.
"..." [Fina]
She reluctantly walked forward. I couldn't see her face through the veil, but I'm certain it was grim.
("...Now that I think of it, where is her dad?") [Solace]
Looking around, I noticed there weren't any recognizable faces. Granted, I never stayed long enough in the manor to know people.
("Well, not that it matters.") [Solace]
The church's doors opened. Standing behind it was Fina's father, who also had Medwin by his side.
"Come this way." [Haverend]
Fina's father motioned inwards for his daughter.
"Yes, father." [Fina]
She entered the church. I took a moment to take it all in as she walked. It looked like a normal church. Carved wooden benches faced the front, and a podium where a priest stood.
("...Ah, I see Vanport.") [Solace]
He stood at the ready. Guarding… the wall I guess?
("I'm not looking forward to fighting him again.") [Solace]
There was also the groom, Roland. He smiled when he saw Fina, causing disgust to rise up within me.
("Smile while you can, you rat bastard.") [Solace]
Light shone through the paned glass behind the priest, painting a beautiful atmosphere within the building. Fina strolled up to the groom, standing face to face with him on the podium.
"You look beautiful, even through that veil of yours." [Roland]
Fina did not reply. It made it a bit awkward, so the priest cleared his throat and began to speak.
"I am honored to witness the joining of Sir Roland, and Lady Fina." [Priest]
He started to talk about honor this, and honor that. To be honest, I stopped listening. That is, until I saw Leyhna bulldoze through the glass panes behind the priest.
"I object!" [Leyhna]
I died a little inside.
("Not only was her entrance planned terribly, her one liner didn't make sense.") [Solace]
The people inside the building looked at her in shock. The only person who wasn't surprised was Vanport, who was also already drawing his sword.
("...I knew it. I'm babysitting.") [Solace]
