Chapter 106 - Moving On

After the Arachnid Queen fight, Nakros stored the corpse into something similar to my |Item Box|. We then exited the mineshaft and took our time tending to my wounds and cleaning ourselves up.

"Do you want me to use magic to heal you?" [Nakros]

"Why do you ask? Is there a side-effect?" [Solace]

"There are some instances where you may get a fever or something similar to a sickness. The most popular theory on this is that the receiver's body cannot withstand the regeneration." [Nakros]

Hearing that, it probably had something to do with overworking the immune system. This also meant that I had nothing to worry about since |Mental Fortitude| gives me immunity to sickness. …Somehow.

"I'll take the healing magic." [Solace]

"Have your way." [Nakros]

He aimed a hand at me then proceeded to mumble something.

"Grant this child your holy favor, |Middle Cure|." [Nakros]

A golden insignia appeared beneath me. This one was a bit different from the last healing magic used on me, but it definitely did the job as I saw my bruises and cuts vanish.

"That about does it. Now why don't you get yourself cleaned up?" [Nakros]

I looked down at myself upon seeing Nakros look me up and down.

"Ah." [Solace]

My only outfit was covered and soaked in blood. It was the uniform of Fina's school so I didn't care much since… Well… It was a school uniform. However, it was the only article of clothing I had.

"Nakros, do you mind doing me a favor?" [Solace]

Nakros gave me a questionable look.

"For?" [Nakros]

"You see… This clothing is all I have… Do you have any spares by any chance?" [Solace]

Nakros raised a finger.

"Wait a sec." [Nakros]

He clawed at the air, forcing open a rift. He then peeked inside and pulled out a blue rock.

"...What is that?" [Solace]

"Spatial ore. I'll turn this into clothing for you." [Nakros]

He then crushed it in between his palms and inhaled deeply before blowing fire into it.

("I didn't know humans could do that.") [Solace]

Is what I thought until I remembered that this guy had coral-like horns sticking out of his forehead.

"|Consolidate|." [Nakros]

He opened his hands to reveal a melted pool of blue. Steam seemed to pour out of it, but that didn't stop Nakros from grabbing it and pulling it like noodles.

"|Weave|." [Nakros]

The Blue puddle soon turned into string. The string soon turned into a clothlike substance. The clothlike substance then turned into a new article of clothing.

"There we go. How do you like it?" [Nakros]

I stood there in awe at the clothes. It looked to be a completely different set of clothing than my original. There were pants, socks, a shirt, a cloak, and a scarf. To be honest, I thought it was a bit overkill.

"It… Looks good." [Solace]

"You don't look very happy about it though." [Nakros]

"No no! I really do like it!" [Solace]

I took the clothes and proceeded to use |Wardrobe| to wear it in an instant.

"So? Does it fit?" [Solace]

Nakros looked me up and down before nodding to himself.

"Not bad. Maybe if I had better materials…" [Nakros]

He seemed to get deep into thought before snapping back to reality.

"Uh oh. Gotta go. See you later, junior disciple." [Nakros]

With a wave, he vanished into a puddle of shadows.

"...Again?" [Solace]

Seeing his reaction, I felt that Lapis was probably nearby.

("She did mention that Nakros was her bounty target.") [Solace]

Either way, I decided to stay out of it.

("Now that I've explored the Orinda mines, I think I only have to visit the Medwin house.") [Solace]

I checked the map Master gave me, which made me quite happy to see that the manor wasn't too far.

("It looks like a ten minute flight.") [Solace]

Knowing that, I headed straight to the manor.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

As per my calculations, I was right. It took about ten minutes for the manor to come into view.

("As much as I hate to say it, the manor does look good.") [Solace]

It looked something like how a roman building would be built. It was fully made of white stone, probably marble, and had the most random things laced with gold. They also had a bunch of flags and shields holding an image of a roaring lion as well. It was most likely their coat of arms some would say.

("Should I enter as a human or a spirit?") [Solace]

There was a black metal gate at the front, connected to a white stone wall that encompassed the entire property. Of course, there were a ton of guards patrolling and stationed here and there. The real question was whether or not to go stealthy.

("For a spirit, I could learn a few things by sneaking in. On the other hand, I could probably get to know the people better by going in as a human.") [Solace]

Then it hit me. No, not a literal strike as per usual. I had an idea. Strange, right? Me not getting beaten to a pulp every ten seconds.

("Why don't I just do both?") [Solace]
