Thinking hard, I was struggling to find something that would entertain Lapis.
("Hm… Oh, I know!") [Solace]
Putting my hands together I covered my right thumb.
"What are you doing?" [Lapis]
"I have a trick that I can do without magic." [Solace]
"Oh? Show me." [Lapis]
She seemed to be quite interested, but I wasn't sure if it would work.
"Now look at my thumb very closely~." [Solace]
Holding my thumbs together, I did the magic trick of oh-no-my-thumb-has come-off.
"So?" [Solace]
Lapis gave me a deadpan look.
"I suppose that works." [Lapis]
Is what she said, but Lapis fired the darkness swirling in her palm into my chest.
"Warning: You have been afflicted with the curse, |???|." [Spirit Guide]
Strangely, I couldn't hear what the curse's name was.
"Woah! Why did you do that?!" [Solace]
"Your trick wasn't very impressive." [Lapis]
"You said I had three tries!" [Solace]
Lapis sighed.
"If that was your first attempt, I'm sure your others would be terrible as well." [Lapis]
"That was just to test the waters!" [Solace]
Lapis shrugged.
"More like testing my patience." [Lapis]
("...Damn, that comeback was kind of good.") [Solace]
I was kind of impressed with that insult. Although, I was still understandably angry.
"You still cursed me though. That's a toe stub every ten minutes!" [Solace]
"Don't worry, I didn't make it so that you would stub your toe every ten minutes." [Lapis]
"Oh. Then what did you curse me with?" [Solace]
Lapis brought a finger to her lips.
"A secret~." [Lapis]
"Bruh." [Solace]
I hate it when people do that. It's like when someone comes up after cutting their hair by a millimeter and tells you to guess what changed about them.
"In any case, I've fixed the teleporter." [Lapis]
"That's nice and all, but I have a question." [Solace]
"Ask away." [Lapis]
She put a hand on her hip like I was being a bother.
"What is this room for?" [Solace]
"History." [Lapis]
All I could think after that reply was:
("Of course she gives me a vague answer.") [Solace]
"Elaborate." [Solace]
"It's just as I said. It's history." [Lapis]
Grabbing one of the crystal balls, she handed it to me.
"This is a recording of one of the most historical moments of this world. Have a look." [Lapis]
Staring into the ball, I saw a bunch of old dudes at a table. Each one wore robe-like clothing, so I could only guess they were scholars.
"They're… discussing something?" [Solace]
"This is the first ever meeting of the King's Conference." [Lapis]
"Ah, for each kingdom, right? Though… there's only a few old men. I could've sworn there were more countries." [Solace]
Lapis gave me a confused look.
"No? The ones who rule kingdoms hold the title of "Lords". The "Kings" are those at the very peak of certain aspects. For example, the Sword King or the Spear King." [Lapis]
"...That's a very strange way of putting things." [Solace]
Sometimes I forget that the world I now reside in is no longer earth.
"So why do you have… history in your tower?" [Solace]
It was then that Lapis made an annoyed expression.
"I was tasked by the gods to oversee it. It really doesn't hold much value, so you can have a look through it if you'd like." [Lapis]
"Really? I thought it'd be a bit more… you know, secretive?" [Solace]
Lapis shook her head.
"What use is there to dwell upon the past? What's happened has happened. There's no changing that." [Lapis]
So she said, but Lapis paused for a moment.
"Ah, nevermind. I suppose you could change it." [Lapis]
"What?" [Solace]
"Nothing." [Lapis]
After leaving that cryptic line, Lapis entered the teleporter and vanished.
("...What was she even here for?") [Solace]
