Chapter 56 - Master!

That night Fina cried herself to sleep. Of course, as her spirit, I accompanied her until she passed out.

("...That went on for a while.") [Solace]

Is how I thought of three hours of tears pouring out of Fina's eyes.

("Now I can get to business.") [Solace]

Due to that fact my mind was focused on Fina, I didn't even inspect the room she was in.

("It's kind of plain, isn't it?") [Solace]

Unlike the room I snuck into, this place was shabby. The bed was a basic white mattress that was about the size of a twin sized bed. The walls were practically wooden planks, and that was literally it.

("Not even a bathroom?") [Solace]

Thinking about it again, the lack of… decoration and such was probably to ensure Fina didn't escape. …Minus the fact there was a window still here.

("Can't we just go through the window?") [Solace]

I drifted to the window, almost touching it until the Spirit Guide alerted me.

"Warning: Traces of an unseen trap have been detected." [Spirit Guide]

("What?") [Solace]

I backed up immediately, somewhat afraid of the unseen trap.

("Is it from the window?") [Solace]

"Response: Correct." [Spirit Guide]

I took my words back. The windows were also off limits.

("Man… How am I supposed to get out now? The door is locked and the window is booby trapped.") [Solace]

As I pondered as to what to do, there was one thought that came to mind.

("Can't I try disarming the trap?") [Solace]

I went up to the window once again, attempting to observe the trap.

"Warning: Traces of an unseen trap have been detected." [Spirit Guide]

("I know. I'm trying to disarm it.") [Solace]

Is what I said, but I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

("Well, the Spirit Guide did say it was an unseen trap.") [Solace]

I couldn't say I didn't expect it, but I couldn't say I didn't have any hope.

("How about this?") [Solace]

"|Mana Detection|." [Solace]

Activating my skill, blue wisps of fog seemed to appear around the windowsill.

("Bingo.") [Solace]

Now that I was able to see the mana, all that was left was to disarm it.

("...How do I disarm an unseen trap?") [Solace]

I wasn't some kind of lock pick guru in past life, and most definitely not one using magic either. How exactly was I supposed to undo whatever it was that was blocking my exit?

"Response: In order to dispel an unseen trap, the original caster must undo the spell themselves." [Spirit Guide]

Waiting for more information, I idled by.

("...Is that it? There has to be another way.") [Solace]

"Response: An alternative method may be to overload the trap with mana. However, it is likely the original caster will notice." [Spirit Guide]

("Bruh.") [Solace]

Another useless method was given. …Or was it?

("Wait, if it is an alarming type or trap, then someone would just have to check on Fina. Though… if it is one of the dangerous types…") [Solace]

I stopped my thoughts there. There's no way someone would put a dangerous trap around a hostage.

("Brute force it is.") [Solace]

Due to learning |Mana Sense| I used my feeling of "sensing" to "sending". Basically I sent a crap load of mana at the window. Why? Because I didn't know where to aim, and if I didn't know, hit everything.

("Is it working?") [Solace]

The moment that thought entered my mind, I heard a zap. That was also the moment I heard footsteps suddenly running towards the room.

("...Guess that was it.") [Solace]

Without wasting a moment, I exited the room via the window. I also didn't want to completely leave Fina, so I lingered a bit to see what would happen.

("The doors opening!") [Solace]

Peering through the window, I saw the old butler come in. He seemed to be a bit panicked, but immediately calmed down after seeing Fina resting soundly in bed.

"This…" [Old Butler]

Straightening his clothes, he headed for the window.

("Uh oh.") [Solace]

I ducked down quickly, hoping the old butler didn't see me.

"|Imbue Alarm|." [Old Butler]

Waving over the window, I was pretty sure the old butler casted the trap on the window again.

"You have acquired the spell, |Imbue Alarm|." [Spirit Guide]

("...Don't know what I'm going to use that for, but thanks I guess.") [Solace]

Luckily for me, the old butler didn't notice me and exited Fina's room. Even more lucky was the fact Fina still didn't wake up.

("Phew… Now that's over with, I've gotta meet Master.") [Solace]

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Making my way over to my Master's classroom, I quickly changed to my human form and put on my clothes even quicker.

("Oh, yeah. I have to bust down the wall.") [Solace]

"|Enchant Flame| |Reinforce| |Shock Resistance| |Blazing Fist|!" [Solace]

Chanting a series of spells, I smashed the brick wall into smithereens.

"Hm?!" [Vincent]

I saw my master almost spill a drink the moment I busted down the wall, which made me smile a bit.

"Master! Your disciple requires your teaching!" [Solace]
