Alice couldn't see anything.
She couldn't feel or hear or taste or smell anything.
There was no sensation in this void.
How weird, the last thing she remembered was putting a tray of buns into the oven then the next second her vision blacked out.
Alice Huns worked at a bakery in New York where she create her beautiful and delicious creations. Culinary was her specialty, she can work from sweet cakes to savory steaks. It was a form of art for her, where the plate was a blank canvas. Though she couldn't do much in this endless void of darkness.
Suddenly out of nowhere, two buns floated in the air in front of her. They were ivory in color... as if they were in the oven for too long and got burn to crisps.
Giggling was then heard inside the void, catching Alice off guard.
"Did the meat buns just... laughed?" Alice said to no one in particular.
Then came a bright light that shone through her closed eyelids and Alice woke up with a start. She can feel her heart beat, she heard the birds outside chirping, she tasted her saliva in her mouth and the smell of wood flushed into her nose. Alice was sweating then immediately panicked when she looked at her surroundings.
'Where am I?' She thought looking at the huge room in front of her. The sunlight shone through the red velvet curtains. Vintage mirrors and paintings were hung on the walls. This seemed like a Victorian themed room.
Getting out of the huge bed Alice felt her lower back ache with need for comfort. 'How weird' she thought looking at her slender fingers and unfamiliar hair color. With shaky legs, Alice hurried over to the mirror hung on the wall.
"What the fuck" she cursed in a whisper. In front of her was not the Alice that she knew. It was a beauty... no, the goddess of Venus should be the right words to describe her. She had thick long blonde hair draped over her bony shoulders. Eyes color of crimson, lips plumped like cherries, and cheeks color of roses. Though she was beautiful, Alice couldn't take her eyes off of one thing... there were hickies everywhere on her body.
Without a warning, a sharp pain intruded her head causing her to groan. Memories of this body was pouring into her head rapidly like a tsunami. She begin to remember the man who slept with her just last night, wildly pounded her but gently caressed her.
Alice wasn't Alice anymore, instead she was the only the Princess of Blume Kingdom, Florence De Blume. Though born from a Mistress, the Princess was highly praised and looked up upon by nobles for her intellect. Last night's incident was caused by one of the ladies in nobility who hated the dirt of the royal family. Her cousin, Juve Danes the Young Miss from the Duke's family. Florence got drunk from the drink offered by Juve and had a one-night-stand with a stranger who she didn't know about... though she could only remember the intense fiery glaze of his ivory black eyes.
What was she going to do? She became a Princess out of nowhere! A girl from the 21st century who doesn't know jack shit about the Victorian era... not to mention she's a vampire!
A blood-sucking creature! The last thing she wanted to be is becoming an annoying mosquito. But what can she do? Alice was suddenly thrown into a world where vampires and demons existed, should she try praying to God?
She then knelt on the ground and clasps her hands together, 'what ever you're doing God, do it in reverse! Please, send me back!'
Of course, nothing happened much to Alice's disappointment. Feeling her existential crisis creeping in, she went to soak herself in the bathtub trying to decide her next steps. Using her earth knowledge, Alice message the spots of her hickies so they go away faster.
An hour long session of reasonings later, she decided to accept the fact that she's Florence De Blume... though this might be a little weird of a journey.
——————-
For the next few months, Florence decided to call in sick and stay in her bedroom despite the boredom because she wasn't ready to face reality.
Sadly, no one came by to visit her to see how she was doing. Her mother died years ago and she had no siblings except for her half-brother, Crown Prince Quin De Blume. According to the original Florence's memories, Quin didn't like her and didn't bother with her because he thinks a girl isn't a big threat to inheriting his throne. King Hendery De Blume didn't care much about the left over of the royal family and she was practically dead in Queen Sarah De Blume's brain.
"Princess, would you like to take a stroll in the garden? It's unhealthy to be inside of your room for so long!" Her maid Tillie nagged. From a young age, Tillie was Florence's only best friend who's with her day and night. She was only 15 years older than Florence, but she was the mother-friend that everyone loves.
"Tillie when are you getting married? You're 38 years old this year! Come on and make me some nieces and nephews" she teased the gal.
The normal lifespan of a human is around 70 years of age whereas vampires and demons lived more than 200 years. Florence and Tillie could have considered babies with their current age.
"I'm waiting on you for my nieces and nephews darling," Tillie grabbed a shawl and pass it to Florence, then grabbed the umbrella to shield her Princess from the scorching sun.
The two went out into the open, and walked into the beautiful garden full of plants and a variety of flowers. Florence walked gracefully with her head up, making no mistakes as the well-mannered Princess. She was able to walk as she did because of the memories of her etiquette lessons and other lessons for the Princess. Embroidery, etiquette, history, math, accounting, the lessons were endless. She often wondered how young Florence could just learned all of those tiring things!
Sitting in the garden, Florence drank her tea and ate her deserts. The Princess life sure was full of enjoyment and luxury. But the life of luxury couldn't replace the lack of affections and love for young Florence.
"Would you like more snacks, Princess?" Tillie asked on the sideline.
Breaking away from her thoughts, Florence looked at the clean plate that was just full of pastries just a minute ago. Was she that hungry?
"No, it's alright. We should go back now" Florence said looking at the sun setting lower and lower.
On the way back to her room, a maid who looked older came up to her and bowed. "Princess, the King ordered me to come and bring you for dinner."
'Now, he remembered me?' She scoffed in her head. Florence wondered if she died that day, would her dead-beat father find out about her death months later?
"Of course, lead the way" Florence smiled ever so slightly, not knowing the disaster that's about to fall on her.
