Chapter 2 - Learning The System

"What!?" Roman shouted after reading the blue, translucent pop-up screen. Realizing he had a body, luckily his own, he started surveying dark cave he was in to find an exit.

"Hey uhhh, System right? What's going on?" Roman asked as he decided to get up.

'You're in a -F tier dungeon, your current quest relies on you completing the dungeon.' A voice said in Romans head, kind of sounding like Siri.

"Oh f*ck you're in my head! Sorry I thought you were just a voiceless pop-up screen. Also, I got that from the pop-up but what is a dungeon and more specificity what's the situation with this one?" He informed the system nervously hoping not to anger it as for all he knows it could probably kill him at any time or lead him to a death by monsters.

'Oh of course, this is the easiest dungeon, hence the -F tier, and this is a dungeon that has skeleton, the weakest monsters found in dungeon. Although the weakest in dungeons they are average in terms of difficulty to defeat when it comes to outside monsters. Don't worry about being attacked right now because you are currently in a safe space where monsters avoid, most dungeon have one.' The system said in a very monotone way, like it was a game programmed to answer all of his questions.

'Ohhhh, so this is supposed to be easy. I should probably grab a weapon or something." He thought to himself while picking up rocks to find one he could use as a bashing rock.

"They're skeletons, they should be weak to bunt damage, especially if they're old. I do have one question though, do the skeletons bleed?" He questioned fearfully because how blood is produced in the bones and how a bloody skeleton is way scarier than a dry one.

'Of course not, they're undead monsters generated by the dungeon it's self. The generation takes a few days and can be stoped by killing the boss.' The system answered yet again in a monotone voice which Roman started to find calming.

As Roman left the area he woke up in he saw a lone skeleton sitting against the wall taking its fingers off and putting them back on over and over.

'Perfect target!' He exclaimed to himself while sneaking up in the skeleton before smashing the rock on the skeleton's head before it could notice him, caving it's head in and killing it cleanly.

"Why do I have such abysmal intelligence, I'm pretty smart. Also, what's an ability and how to I get one?" Roman quizzed the system, wishing for answers that hopefully didn't reveal that he was actually stupid or something that breaks his spirit.

'That's just the base intelligence for humans and it's not related to actual intelligence, it's just the stat that corresponds with your mana. Also, you can unlock abilities through hard work, scrolls that imprint the skill on you, and by the method you unlock at level 10, just think of it as extra incentive to grow stronger.' The system explained like a mother consoling a child, putting Roman to easy as he valued his intelligence dearly.

After assigning 5 points to defense and agility because he didn't have any need for mana nor did he quite look into what vitality did, Roman decided it would be best to use the femur of the skeleton he just killed.

"A lot smaller than I expected." Roman uttered quietly while inspecting both the femur and skeleton. The skeleton seemed to only be four and a half feet tall which was hard to tell earlier when he was sitting, but now sprawled out on the floor it was much easier to see. And the femur was about the length of his forearm.

After his analysis he decided to hunt some more because of how easy they were to kill. He spotted two skeletons who were both sifting through a small pile of bones and replacing broken or cracked ribs.

Because they were distracted he was able to sneak up to the skeleton on his right who was currently comparing ribs. He held the femur above his head and slammed it down full force into the skeleton's skull, making a large crack that spread around its head but not quite killing it.

'I should have stuck to the damn rock!' He shouted in his head before backing up as to not get hit by the injured skeleton.

Now that they were alerted he decided that he should finish of the injured skeleton to make things easier. Roman tried to hit its head once again but had to duck the other one's slow and wide swipe.

"Come on, that's no fair." He said angrily as he kicked the skeleton that had just attacked and backed off of the injured skeleton that still had a fighting spirit.

Roman finally got the last hit on the injured skeleton making its body go limp and giving Roman a new weapon, another femur.

While distracting reading the alert the other skeleton hit him on his back, knocking him down and dealing 10 damage to his health, which he had just noticed he had a health bar for on the bottom left of his vision.

"Can you save the alerts until after I'm done fighting!" Roman shouted at the system after getting up from the heavy hit.

'Of course, you should have just said so earlier.' The system retorted making him sound the one at fault.

Using Romans new "double femur smash" technique he was able to kill the other skeleton swiftly.

'Ow, my back.' Roman thought as he rubbed the damaged area on his back.

"By any chance does vitality do what I think it does, will raising that help my back?" Roman asked the system, making him seem like an old person always complaining about back problems.

'Of corse, I'm surprised you haven't found that out already.' The system replied almost making it seem like it was mocking him.

After putting all of his stat points into vitality he noticed his health bar start regenerating slightly.

"Hey can you bring up my stats without me having to level up?" Roman questioned the system, wanting to see his health.
