Chapter 7 - Chapter Six- Unruly Focus

Vandorr wasted no time returning to meet Doric the next day, he hadn't been expecting to receive any thing that early. Like a man highly motivated by his search for something, he walked hastily through, bustling through halls and doorways in his bid for the euphoric feeling he was having at that moment, curious as a cat, it could only get better as he saw Doric walking towards him from the other end of the hall with a group of priests.

He recognized the banner on their cloaks, the symbol of the Cross. He ignored them and focused his attention of the governor who happened to not have noticed his at that moment as he laughed and talked on with one particular priest who was dressed differently than the others, a black cloak with the golden symbol of the Cross which matched the colour of his cap. The other five were dressed in red.

"Ha! Vandorr Brensk! I waited all night for you, hoping that you would come as your curiosity led you!" Doric said as soon as he noticed him coming. Vandorr smiled and bowed a little at the priests who in returned bowed saluted him in their own way.

"Wouldn't have loved to keep you awake through the night and that is why I decided to come to you this morning" Vandorr said coolly.

"Never mind, Never mind... I'm glad you came. I'm sure you know Flair Gurhum from the cathedral in Andorra" Doric stretched his hand to the Priest in black who leaked a smile off his face immediately.

"I hear you're the man who found the VANDOLSK and as well as the treasure of the bishop" Gurhum said again. He had a round and rough face, oddly big nose and wide mouth.

"Words do travel fast....from the way I see it" Vandorr grinned through his full beard.

"The VANDOLSK you speak of no longer exist I'm afraid" He said again still in the same manner. Gurhum frowned a little and then took his glance past him to Doric who only shrugged and smiled. "What do you mean?! Whoever stole that Crest must have turned besides I did hear from Lord Doric here that the culprit belongs to a Noble" Gurhum said again doubting his confidence a little.

"Why don't you tell me why you've called me, Doric??" Vandorr said staring hard at him, he was already getting furious and it could only be because he had told Doric not to tell anyone about Celiona. "I'm sorry Doric but I had no choice but to tell them about Celiona, apparently it could help further with the investigation. They must return back to Andorra with her" Doric spoke mildly.

"Celiona isn't going anywhere with you and I trusted you to keep this secret..." Vandorr spat with rage.

"You must under--"

"There's nothing to understand Doric!! You are just a coward just like you were when you left Reggie!" Vandorr said sharply trying to contain his anger. "How dare you speak to your Governor like that? You infidel!!" Gurhum raised his voice that every other person in the hall way turned their attention towards them.

"Shut up! You bunch of losers with no direction whatsoever! Even if your God comes down with the host of Heaven, Celiona is going nowhere!!!" Vandorr spat.

He soon turned and walked away as fast as he could. His mind raced as he stepped out of the castle, he knew what he needed to do.

"We are leaving now!!! Get your things Armando!! NOW!!" He stormed into the Indie Manor bustling through the door of Armando's room where he laid. "What's going on Vandorr?!!" Celiona had walked in behind him. "I'll explain but we need to leave Now, we don't have time! The city guards will be here soon!!" He scrambled through his clothes and weapons, arranging them in a rucksack.

"You'd better give a sensible reason for this, Vandorr! We don't have horses if you must know!" Armando said as they soon walked through the busy streets of Araguaia. Vandorr's assumption was right, it hadn't been ten minutes that guards had started moving about, the city bell had gone off and the whole city was in confusion.

"Three dongs.... That's bad! The bell never chimes three times. It has not happened since I was born.." Celiona stopped running, looking around trying to listen more attentively. "What have you done Vandorr?!" Armando shouted from behind him as they ran through the crowd running the opposite way. They were going towards an exit, at the very least, all their running couldn't be in vain.

"The North gate will definitely be locked right now, if we make it to the eastern wall, we might find a way to leak through the the streams!" He beckoned at them, waving them to run faster. "Alligators Vandorr!! Ever heard of them?! Those streams reek of them. I wouldn't be dinner to lizards. If we must leave I know a way!" Armando had grabbed him by the shoulder pushing him towards another way, Celiona didn't hold back as she thrust herself into a big run, following closely behind the men.

Armando had immediately swerved into a dark alley, almost empty as only few people who seemed to have been sick laid along the ground. "I've never seen this part of Araguaia in my life!" Celiona said panting behind. "That's because you've stayed your whole life in a beautiful life. Welcome to the hidden part of Araguaia" he said as he broke open a misfitting door of an almost dilapidated house. "This city is built on lies and deceit! You'd wonder why i never wanted to come back!!" He said again, this time removing some bricks through a hole in the wall of the dark house they had entered.

"How did you even find this place?!" Vandorr said as he helped remove the bricks from the weak wall. The other end of it was bright as light seeped through. "This is where Lucius Indie lived as a child!!" Armando responded as this time, they were face to face with a scenery of green forest. "Now you will explain why we've just become fugitives in our birthplace" he looked up at Vandorr with blankness on his already sweaty face.

When they had gotten a great distance from the city of Araguaia, Vandorr decided to tell them of his tale at the castle of the governor. "I knew meeting with Doric Demur wasn't going to turn out well" Armando said as he threw a stone into a river they had come to meet in the woods.

"Celiona,I must ask if you remember anything at all from before you became a VANDOLSK. The priest of Andorra think you the culprit who stole the Crest..." Vandorr turned to her. "I do not remember anything, my mind blur like the morning fog. I can only remember being with Aretha, everything else is darkness" she said staring into space.

"Your Father Hermis is the keeper of the treasures for the Bishop...." Armando had gotten bored of skipping stones and had stood to his feet. "Do you accuse my Father of stealing from the Church. He could never do that!! He's an Honest Man!!!" Celiona retorted at the top of her voice. The whole place fell silent again with both looking at each other with contempt.

"Easy now! If that is so then, we might as well just travel to where the heat is and find out" Vandorr spoke up this time trying to ease the already tense situation. "Are you mad?! Why would you want us to go to Andorra, we might as well have stayed back at Araguaia since you want to get us killed besides VANDORR, WHAT IS IT TO YOU!???! why do you care so much about this?! Why won't you let it go?!" Armando flared.

If only he knew how Vandorr felt, it was like a push, an idea implanted in his mind that he went down this path. Armando never got to know his story, not even Calqués his father. Afterall, Calqués had only met him at Birming during an expedition to capture an oversized boar that trouble the town. He had helped an injured Calqués back to the city, taking care of his wounds.

He wasn't an open type who spilled his own story, he kept those memories locked down somewhere deep down in his heart. Born of a family of another country entirely, he never knew his father. It wasn't that he died or left. It was that he was one of twenty seven children born to him. Vandorr never saw his father face to face even more spend time together with him. Born into a family of vikings, it was common to go on tedious and dangerous expeditions just like that very one where he was left to die in the snow. He had been only nine years of age.

Vandorr soon let a smile slide across his face as he stared at the agitated Armando as though to pierce his soul with his eyes. "But would you have us leave her now?! Focus your energy on getting out of this mess instead of fighting over nonsense. We will meet with Hermis Serth whether you come with us or not, it's the only way we will find out who cursed Celiona" He said boldly turning to leave with Celiona.

"I shall come with you" Armando had hesitated for a while, watching them go. Vandorr leaked another smile. "Why do you smile?!" Armando asked as he noticed the reaction. "You want to be your Father's man but you still think with your heart. Calqués has done quite some remarkable things that makes him one of the bravest men on earth" Vandorr said without looking at him.
