Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

While Ian and Nathan were busy at school, Zac was bombarding Lance with endless questions, " He has a secret lab, why didn't we discover it? How does he have such a great progress in his investigations? Why is he interested in this case? Hey... Lance answer me hey.." But the listener went on ignoring him, deep in his thoughts.

Lance sat down with his hand rubbing his chin while a smirk crept his way upon his lips, he's such a cute kid.

Anyone who saw this would feel an inevitable attraction towards the breath of maturity Lance gave off, however it was different for Zac who was familiar with him, he shivered instead. Ah. someone's going to be in trouble and then he ran away from the office unwilling to be on the receiving end of Lance's torture.

Lance snapped out of his thoughts and got back to his work after hearing the door close, picked up the intercom and said, "Let Max come in."

After Max arrived at the instruction of his captain he was handed a bunch of files and immediately asked to verify the findings.

" I believe there shouldn't be any problems, I think it's better if you make a report on these findings and check if any point was missed out or has been left behind in our inspection."

Max upon receiving the order dived into the investigation handed over to him.

Lance was tapping his fingers on his table when he recalled something, he picked up his phone and made a call, " Give me a detailed information about his music teacher."

The person on the other end of the phone paused for a moment before recovering his senses, there's only been one student on his boss' mind recently.

"I'm on it sir."

After delegating various tasks to the members of his team, Lance decided to pay a visit to the commissioner, it had been long since he spoke face to face with him, he could sate his curiosity and hand over the results given to him by Ian.

In a brightly lit office the commissioner sat behind the desk reading the documents Lance handed him while Lance stood in front of the desk, his body straight, hands behind his back and without any expressions on his face.

As soon as the commissioner put the documents on the table Lance spoke, " Dr.S has been a great help to our investigators, at first I thought that it may really have been because Stacey had been wrongly accused of a crime she did not commit by us, but upon seeing these reports I changed my mind. The way these documents are impeccably organised and the data it contains, the details on so many cases and the convincing deductions Ian gave, I have no doubt that my previous conjecture had been wrong."

The commissioner raised his eyebrows at the man in front of him, though he was young, he has been a great help since he came to the district. Who in the world wouldn't be fond of capable and intelligent junior. Lance has made him proud even now his question didn't anger him instead made him happy to think he caught on to the flaws revealed by Dr.S .

Giving a hearty laugh from his heart, which definitely confused the young officer in front of him he calmy let out a sigh, staring directly at Lance, "Do you absolutely have to know?"

Lance only calmed his mind and gave a straightforward answer, an answer that was from both his heart and mind, " Yes, it really seems like he has been continuously taking this case on a personal level, I'd want to know what is the reason, so that I can avoid future mishaps."

Without any change in his expression the commissioner was gloating on the inside, oh Ian you've met your match, haven't you. I'd need to keep an eye on Lance and Ian's interactions they are going to be fun, two black bellied foxes facing off, I'd like to see the winner, his heart gloating at the future troubles they'd have with each other.

While he was full of different thoughts on the inside he calmly replied, "There's one thing you don't know about this case. We have the murderer's DNA."

"What?!? Why hasn't he been caught yet?" asked Lance surprise evident on his face.

"It was because of that DNA we reached out to Ian, and also partially why Ian works as a criminal psychologist. That murderer maybe Ian's only possible relative alive. The DNA match between the two is almost 30%."
