Ian worked part time at the library after finishing up with school. As soon as he turned eighteen he moved out of the orphanage he previously lived in and has been searching for his parents ever since. He looked petite on the outside but having done physical work since he was a child made his bones exceptionally strong.
He stood at the large french window of the library and looked out at the rain. It brought him peace. Rain always felt like that, like it could wash away all his past and renew him. But it was only till the time it rained as soon as it was over it took away that brief moment of peace it brought with him. Just as he turned around to sort out the books in his hands he heard a clatter of footsteps as they entered the library.
A group of policemen walked in, as Ian had the employee card hanging around on his neck they walked towards him. A bubbly looking officer stepped forward, his name plate read Zac Colton and said, " Hello. We are looking for the one in charge would you please call them?"
Ian sighed, ran his hands through his hair and said, " Ms. Stacy is on leave today. I am the one temporarily in charge of today's functioning of the library."
Zac breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look at his captain only to find that the captain wasn't looking at him but at the child in front of him and his eyes were filled with scrutiny and suspicion. "You are?" Lance asked, studying the teenager in front of him.
"Ian Scott, I'm a part-timer here." Ian told him while studying him. His instincts told him that Ian was a dangerous man different from the danger aura that surrounds a murderer. Lance's aura only proved one thing to him that he was a hunter. No matter who the prey he'd catch it. He stood tall a little higher than 6", with a sharp jawline narrow golden eyes, with black silky hair. Sigh. Truly a hunter. A hunter even more dangerous than him. Seeing the crowd slowly forming around them the captain moved.
"We'll be back later." With that said the captain of the team led his team away from the library and went outside. As soon as they were outside Zac breathed a sigh of relief.
"Did anyone else feel it?" Everyone beside Lance turned to look at him their gaze questioning.
"Feel what?"
"The suffocating aura inside the library. It was like a meeting between two.... between two...."
"Hunters." said Lance while taking out a cigarette from his pocket.
"Yeah. But why? Wasn't that just an ordinary high school boy?" asked another young police officer curiously.
Lance breathed out smoke and said, "Check him. I want his full background report."
"Yes sir. What about the manager of the library?"
Hearing this question Lance looked up at the library with his eyes narrowed.
"Get her to come to the police station. Tell Laurel to be on stand by she'll be in charge of questioning her. Zac you'll go in to help."
"Yes captain." Saluted Zac.
Ian looked back at the crowd in front of the library and rubbed his temples. This time it wasn't his fault he didn't go looking for trouble the trouble found him itself. With a sigh he flipped through his contacts and called, " Chief what exactly is going on why are your people at my library?"
Yes that's right the entire library belonged to him. To be precise he took over this library from the original owner after he helped him when he was fifteen. "You wait I'll look into it."
Within a few minutes the Chief called him back. Chief is the ex-chief of police. The last case that was solved under him was the one that granted Ian this library.
Inside the interrogation room.
"Miss Stacy we'd like to ask you questions feel free to answer them." Stacy was a petite lady who sat trembling on the cold iron chair in the interrogation room facing two police officers.
Only when the party in question nodded did Zac continue.
"Where were you on the night of 26th December?"
"I... I was in the library."
Zac narrowed his eyes at her and looked over at the viewer glass he knew the captain could see him.
"Continue" Lance's voice sounded through the speaker in the room.
"If you were in the library how did your ID end up at the crime scene?"
Stacy dodged the piercing eyes that glared at her and said, "I..It was stolen."
Zac narrowed his eyes at her he felt if he asked more sternly he'd be able to break through. Hence, he banged his hands on the table and asked, " When and where was it stolen?"
Stacy became more dodgy and was shivering in fright, her lips were pale and while she was trying to avoid their gazes she wrapped her arms around herself and screamed hysterically, "Let me out!!!"
Seeing her become so unexpectedly unstable Lance frowned. This was completely unexpected to him. Why was she being so hysteric he couldn't figure it out just as he was about to let them out. The door to the interrogation room was pushed open. Ian Scott. Lance narrowed his eyes when he saw him. As if feeling his gaze Ian looked up and glared at him, a fuse seemed to have been switched open in him. He walked up to Stacy and whispered something to her rubbing her back and embracing her. Zac looked up at his captain waiting for instructions but there was no response. Ian took Stacy out with him and just as he reached the door he said, " I suggest you take a look at the suspect's medical record if you want to suspect them and the direction you're heading in is wrong you will never be able to track down the serial killer if you continue this way."
Lance raised his eyebrows. Serial Killer? He knew? How? Just who was he?
