Chapter 9 - Refusal

I turned around to notice the girl I met this morning. The medium girl in ignius's words. A man had her by her hand, waking down the long Erie corridor purposefully shuffling fast to avoid any possible prying eyes. I couldn't see the man's face very well. He was turned away too busy pulling her too fast for her little legs to keep up. Curiosity was killing me I wanted to know what was going on because that was not the direction she lived in I remember this because it was a straight shot to school from her house.

I couldn't help it I followed them ignius's voice was still trying to find me in the distance but, I wasn't concerned about him right then. I ran through the gate that was halfway down the alleyway. I could here her as I ran to them.

" where are we going? I thought you said you were driving me to my mommy's house. What are you doing?" her voice audibly distressed.

" Hush little one. We're heading to my car right now don't worry once we reach my car we can head straight to your mommy's house. So come along... Just a tad further." the tall mans voice shook my core, that's too familiar! His voice is way too familiar!

" What!? No let me go! I can walk from here! let me go! Get off of me let go! Let g-" the sound of her struggling went muffled and then silent. The scene that unfolded before my eyes left me feeling

Uneasy. I continued to run attempting to run after them and by the time I caught up to them my friend was sloppily thrown over his shoulder. My mind was buzzing... I didn't know what I would do when I finally caught to them, I stood witness as the tall man stuffed her in the trunk and slid into the driver's seat.

Any assumptions at her being her father that I seen this morning disappeared instantly. I chased after the car running through buildings and people alike to stay caught up with the vehicle, until I got to a dark apartment building. I paused for a second but only for a second before I ran to the car the man strolled up to his house looking down both sides of the street as if he was making sure the coast was clear. I pushed my head through the hood of his trunk to find her body. I found her she wasn't dead in fact she was fine she was just unconscious and laying on random rigid items it looked uncomfortable but if she was knocked out the way I think she was then I don't think she will be up for a while to even know the difference. I'm just happy that she is still breathing. I already knew that I couldn't touch her which means that I can't physically wake her either. I was panicking 1 don't know what to do I needed help.

'What do I do?... What can I do? Come on wake up please! Come on! He's going to come back soon what do I do?'

My mind was flustered and panicked and that alone started to make me angry, I lost my temper and I swatted at the car parked to my left, my hand fazed through the headlight setting off the alarm by accident. At first I panicked... But then , realized the attention it was drawing and could essentially draw. My sneaky smile started to spread across my face. Every person who passed by the can wouldt look around and wonder what was going on. The owner chose to avoid coming out to turn off the alarm so I swatted at the car my friend was sleeping and set off the alarm. The busted looking Sudan on a shady street was a double negative not in my favor. All of the buildings on this street looked abandoned and decrepit, most of the doors on this block had orange papers taped onto the windows and doors. This block was 9 prime example of the word uninhabitable if I didn't know any better I would think a photo of this block was a screenshot of a zombie games background or just plain photoshopped. But people walk this way none the less and they were all cautious keeping their eyes to the concrete or any door that opened while they passed. Its like everyone who walked down this street was mentally charting.

'It's a trap it's a trap. Walk faster hurry up!'

But unfortunately my plan was falling flat no one was stoping to investigate or question the two honking cars well every one except the man who pulled out two pairs of keys and stoped the two cars from making noise. He then placed the keys in his pocket and started casually strolling towards the Car and calmly pulled her out of the trunk. Once he had the trunk closed it didn't matter how fast or slow he chose to walk, no one would think twice as he stumbled up the stairs almost tripping twice on his way inside.

Something inside of me snapped as I started to panic the door was closing behind him and I didn't know what to do. I tried to run in and was roughly met by my boundary. If I went any further I would be instantly warped back to my room but I needed to save my friend so I pushed anyway. I was instantly warped into my house but I wasted no time and started the sprint towards the house with Dusty Windows and pushed against my barrier over and over again. I repeated this tiring cycle two more Times.

This was my fourth tine maybe my fifth time sprinting to this house I can't remember. But I tried to push my way through once again... This time I pleaded with any goal... Any higher power to let me through...

It did.

The same burning sensation behind my eyeballs was back so, I looked at my reflection in the window shield of the car to my right noticing that my eyes were glowing gold I was at a lose for words I was further shocked when my hands broke through the barrier. I watched the once invisible border shattered into blue crystallized dust particles and flood the air around me. I took a small step beyond what would have been my boundary and the world burst into vibrant color then it suddenly faded without warming. I stood there for a few seconds trying to comprehend what just happed occasioning looking at my reflection to admire my eyes. Heavy clouds rolled in and immediately took command of the sky as it started to rain down suddenly. The concert darkening one dot at a time. I signed thinking of how I missed feeling the rain on my skin. Then...

Bang.

I knew immediately that that sound was not thunder. That was without a doubt the sound of a gunshot from within the old building.

I felt the warmth behind my eyes get hotter as I took one more step towards the house. The rain drops froze, the droplets no longer soaking the concrete. I stormed up the front steps and to the front door. I barely touched the front door before it flew inwards splintering all over the first floor you could see straight through the entire first floor the only thing that blocked any portion of the view was the waist high walls that separated the kitchen from the lining room but even then... The guess back door was clear from the front door. I looked down at the splintered wood and the ugly shaggy carpets. I was beyond angry at this point. I wanted to find her and hurt him. One thing was for sure I was not leaving without her. I wanted to make sure she was okay. Words bounced around inside of my skull repeating themselves over and over.

'Where is she?'

My leg twitched and I was already up the broken staircase looking at ruined and abandoned rooms they were horrible everything was rested, broken or molded but there was no sign of her all the same. My mind was reeling the entire time I felt weightless the speed my body was moving was not a speed I was accustomed too. I was slightly scared... Of myself. I heard a door slam on a lower floor of the building I waisted no time and allowed myself to faze through the floor no one was on the second floor so I was left to assume it was the first floor or the basement. After clearing the first floor I sank further down landing in the basement. I left myself slightly suspended in the air, A trick I have just learned apparently, and slowly spun around trying to make sure I don't miss anything unlike the way I searched the first floor.

There was a whole bunch of boxes and shelves in my way while looking around so I made sure to take my time, I have almost scanned more then half of the basement when hands covered my eyes and spun me around to the direction at the stairs. My new golden eyes were now being blocked from seeing anything at all. The heavy smell of rusted metal shelves and old jars of paint gave the room a coppery musty smell it was gross if I had a stomach to fill then I would have definitely heaved its contents all over the smooth concrete floor. There was something else hanging in the air... Something pungent... As well as gun powder. This was the origin. The place where the gunshot rang from but, I don't hear her.

'Where is she?'

"Don't look. " his voice was calm but stern I lowered myself down and stood on my own two feet But I wasn't in the mood for games I was busy and I definitely had no time to play.

"What do you mean don't look? Let me go. Ignius? Let me go! " I felt my blood start to boil both figuratively and physically. Iguius missed in pain and released me, his hands Red with new burns.

He shot me a Concerned look at me and took a couple staggered steps backwards. Instantly retreated into himself as he began muttering to no one in-particular.

" first you break though your artifacts given boundary, then your awakened powers stop rain from falling after being the reason the rain started in the first place, you almost immediately learn now to reaper and now you burn through my soul shield. Your soul is losing control... Isn't it? "

I looked away angry and confused. My thoughts scrambling and unorganized. I stared at the ground with dark moldy spots scattered here and there.

Stomping from upstairs tore my attention from the mold on the smooth concrete floor to the ceiling the basement I clearly didn't check the first floor good enough that or he was outside. The man stormed back down the stairs, his pistol in his hand, he was holding on to it with a white knuckle grip. This was the first time I took the time toe properly look at his face since this crazy goose chase started.

I should have known... His tall stature and knack for tricking young girls were clear give aways but I ignored them anyway. The realization of my negligence sent a wave of pain to the center at my forehead.

Mr. Audrey. He swiftly walked through my soul and all I felt was a nasty wave of slimy, deceitful aura, it was disgusting. My gaze then followed him but something deep inside me started to burn it was an indescribable rage that distracted me from the outside world I struggled against that vengeful feeling and fought to regain my composure my vision blurred and shook. I was far to angry it's like my responses were no longer my own I felt like a puppet.

I responded to her name for the fist time.

"Aiden!" My golden gaze pierced him but he didn't flinch he just continued speaking anyway he was no longer standing straight up.

" Please calm down! You're... Tearing the girl apart. " With that he collapsed to the ground fainting I feel like I should care a little more but... I didn't not right now at least.it was finally time to make him pay.

' Where. Is. She?'
