It's dark and it's cold. I can't even feel my body, the air is so thick that my chest started to tighten. When I try to breathe it burns as of the air itself was on fire. If this is what getting hit by a car feels like I wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy- Well I might. There's one thing I knew, I couldn't stand it anymore.
"UUGGH..!!" A muffled groan escaped my lips, my eyes shot open as I gasped for air repeatedly through my mouth. I looked up to the ceiling, my vision was so blurry that it seemed like I was staring at headlights. I tried to move my fingers to feel what I was on and it was a bed. The bed was very stiff and the sheet was a silk-like ripoff.
I was so uncomfortable, everything around me was unfamiliar and strange. The room was so fu'king bright and the ceiling seemed higher than my bedroom. Something soft but bungled caused a dent up in my back as I struggled to roll over. I moved my fingers and neck as the feelings came back slowly, I failed to roll on my side but started to breathe easier over time.
"Dad...."
The most ruff and toad-like voice came out of my mouth. Now that caught me off guard, even my eyeballs almost Popped out. I took a deep breath and laid back, swallowing all the saliva I had trying to hydrate myself. Even though my voice sounds ruff and grater-like, I could still tell it wasn't 'my' voice.
I felt a hand on my forearm and a wet puddle under my elbow. Was I sweating? No, it's weird to only sweat in one spot. In pain, I turned my head to the side and saw a woman weeping on my arm sobbing uncontrollably. She had clear skin and dark bags under her eyes and the most painstaking look I'v ever seen, it was as if she'd lost everything she had. She had cream-brown skin and rich black wavy curls going down her back. After a period of staring and trying to understand my situation, she finally looked up at me, her jaw dropped and her eyes widened.
"Oh my goodness..." She kept sobbing and came closer as if she was making sure I was actually there. "My love..-Are you okay-Can you hear me?…". I could hear her, but could barely speak or move- My love??? I didn't even know this woman.
"The doctor- Brien get the physician!!" She screamed. Brien? I wasn't sure who they were but I didn't want to stay and find out. The woman ran out of the room so fast yet elegant I'm not sure she was the same person weak to her knees a moment ago. With the feelings coming back to my arms I pushed myself up and looked for a glass of water, and if anything a weapon. Until I came across a mirror hanging on the wall and froze. It was me, a hand to my throbbing throat, wrinkled eyebrows from my crazy headache, yet an unusual face staring back at me. I patted my face while I started to get frantic. WHAT THE HELL?!
Scanning the room I became even more concerned. The furniture, the colors, the building, and the person in the mirror frightened me. It wasn't my bed, it wasn't my door, my dresser, or my face. The lights weren't headlights but a black ceiling with a couple of shining stars that were hand-painted. At that moment I heard footsteps. Rushing back to the bed, the woman from earlier entered and planted herself by 'my' bedside and began stroking the back of my hand.
An elder man with a long light brown beard walked into the room wearing a neatly tied black out dated suit. Soon after came a boy, then an arrogant man, and finally a woman. What was this room? A free for all? The second woman behind the arrogant man had a disgusted and disappointed look in her eyes, she stared at me, covering her lower face with her fan. The Man had a stern and corrupt look to him which annoyed me. The boy came to the side of the bed where the woman was pampering me and asked her, "Is she okay?-Has she spoken? -Can she see us?". Before he could ask another question, the lady holding my hand hushed him quickly but quietly. "Hush Brien, can't you see she's in pain?...". The old man settled his station and then turned to listen to my heart, I realized he was a Doctor .
Everyone was staring at me, I felt as if they were 10 feet taller than the bed frame itself. He leaned away from me and started to observe my body. As a reflex, I covered my chest with the blanket and stared at him with red threatening eyes thinking, 'You cheeky old bastard'.
The little-witted man yelled inpatient, "So!? What can you say about her condition now?". The doctor bowed with haste, "This lowly physician apologizes my lord..". The woman patting my hand turned to the doctor "Please take your time. ". The old man looked at her with a flicker of disgust, then turned back to the little-witted man and said firmly. "My lord. The Young Lady will be fine".
I'm so damn confused.
