Chapter 1 - Rebirth

'Huh, it shouldn't be this dark in my room. I am sure I payed this month's electric early.'

The first thought that went through his head after regaining conscious. No matter which direction he looked there was no sign of light.

'Did they finally take my sight? I hope those bastards at least got a decent price,' he joked to himself. 'My baby blues should help pay the bills for the next couple of months at least.'

After an accident caused his house collapse on its occupants, he was desperate to help his sister survive. Desperate enough to reach out to the shadiest people in town, the kind of people you don't want in your neighborhood. Of course the so called 'White Angels' are more than happy to give poor bastards money in exchange for help with their products. The gang specialized in obtaining organs for people who couldn't be bothered to wait for them through the legal route. And the organs of a late teenager are always in demand.

The only worry he had now is he could no longer see his sister's smile or even worse, he might become a burden on her. At least when the Angels took a "donation" in the past, they didn't do anything that would stop him from working in a couple of days (against the advice of any sane doctor).

He tried to sit up, only to discover that he couldn't feel any sensation. As he laid there, he tried to think about the day before. However, nothing was coming to mind. It was like his memory was starting to fall apart. As he was struggling to think about his most recent memory, a dark thought popped in his head.

'Could it be that they got a large order and just decided to harvest everything?' he thought. 'Well I guess that would explain why I can't feel anything and why I can't recall anything from yesterday, after all who'd want to remember agreeing to die without saying goodbye to your family. At least the Angels are known for paying out even if someone dies during the procedure. Amelia should have enough money to move to a better city and maybe even go to a decent university with the amount she'll get from my major organs.'

He tried to look around to see if there was anything in this empty space, but without being able to feel anything he couldn't tell if he was even moving. The experience was far worse than any time he had been put under anesthetics.

'For all the hype those church fanatics have given it, the afterlife sure seems worse than life on earth,' he joked as he tried to relieve his boredom. Despite his attempts to focus, he found himself slipping away.

As time passed, he was struggling to maintain his sense of self by recalling the few good memories he had with his sister. Out of nowhere he suddenly started to feel a warmth all around him. It provided a sense of comfort that made his attempts to stay focused as he found himself lulled into nothingness.

As time passed, he felt a strange sensation. He could feel his body once again, and even move it a little. On occasion when he would try and stretch he would encounter a hard object that would stop him from moving any further. That same object also calmed him down for some reason.

Eventually, It felt like his whole world was shaking. He couldn't help but wonder what was happening.

Soon he felt his body move against his will as a pressure descended on his body. Despite the pain it caused, he was happy to experience something after the mind numbing time he spent in this darkness.

Then suddenly for the first time in a long time, he saw light. The light stung his eyes, as shapes slowly toke human forms.

A large middle aged woman held him aloft, as he heard a chorus of joyful voices rang out. A strange look appeared on the woman's face as she brought her hand towards his face. As she touched his face with a hand that seemed to be the size of his body, he felt her turn him onto his side. Before he could even process what as going on, a loud slap rang in his ears as a sharp pain came from his backside.

"What the hell was that for!?"

He cried out, yet all that came out was a sharp wail. After letting out a good couple of cries, he settled down and looked around to an audible sigh of relief that came from just out of sight. After hearing him cry out, the middle age handed him towards a young woman who was lying in a bed. The young woman was clearly a beautiful woman, even as her skin was pale from effort.

'What is going on? Could those Buddhist be right and life ends just to lead to rebirth?'

His mind was scrambling to try and make sense of what was going on. Maybe he had done enough good to earn a new life, at least it couldn't be much worse than what he experienced in his last life.

"Congratulations, my lady. It is a healthy boy. The master will surely be happy to have a son"

While he couldn't understand what the older woman was saying, he gathered that this young woman must be his mother. She had a loving gaze that seemed to match the illusion of glow that her silver hair granted her face.

As she gently rocked him back and forth, she opened her robe and brought his head to her chest. The middle aged woman helped orientate the boy and help him feed.

'Wait can't you give me a moment to rest. I'm not sure I'm ready for thi-'

As he found his place, his body's instinct overpowered any thought as he started to drink and relax.

"He needs a good strong name, to match his family. How about, Percival?" The young woman asked aloud. Seeing a content look on her baby's face, she exclaimed "Percival it is, Percival Segno."
