Seraph looked over the 'book' that John had given to him, Inside of his tent he was just flipping pages of the book before closing it and flipping the book to its cover.
"Isn't this a bible?" Seraph had closely read the first few pages of the bible but then he got curious, he began flipping through pages to see if his theory was correct and it was. The book John had given seraph was a bible.
Seraph couldn't help but to admit that while reading the bible even just flipping through the pages of it made him eerily calm, the kind of calm that he never ever expected to experience in his life. After constant beatings, the best calmness he ever felt was silence or reading the books in his room, but these books were special; they were not just any books he found they were ones that he really did value, to the point that even after he finished these books he re-read it over and over.
Seraph couldn't stop staring at the cover of the bible, it was just like an ordinary bible except that it was battered somewhat and the pages felt delicate. Seraph rubbed his thumb on the cover of the book, the book's cover was somewhat smooth and he traced the words on the cover.
Even this small action made him feel calm…
He felt like he could just close his eyes and…
[ Learning Holy Light 0% ]
His eyes opened in surprise.
[ Canceled Learning Holy Light ]
Seraph could only blink in surprise, the system's notifications surprised him. He then closed his eyes and the message appeared again.
[ Learning Holy Light 1% ]
Seraph couldn't conceal the smile on his face.
'A new skill? I can learn a skill just by holding a bible and closing my eyes?' He was surprised 'Is this part of my special system?'
[ Yes. Host needs to read the book fully to learn Holy Light. ]
Seraph opened his eyes and the progress bar minimized and went to the side of his eyesight. He quickly opened the book and began reading.
As he read the book, the progress bar increased only by minute percentages.
' This is gonna take a long time, but at least i got something to read to pass the time.' Seraph decided to read the book for about an hour before placing it down and going to sleep, he felt like he couldn't rush this process. He wanted to be fully rested tomorrow in order to learn martial arts from John.
After reading it for about an hour he had filled the book up to 20% completion.
Seraph didn't put the book down, instead he held onto it while he slept. It was important to him, and the bible really did calm him down and keep his mind at relative ease.
…
Seraph let out a soft groan, He had a good nap. He even had a good dream last night.
He slowly opened his eyes to see two dark eyes staring straight at his face, he jumped back discarding the sheet and suddenly realized that his legs felt heavy and his body was really groggy.
"The hell!" He shouted and looked at the figure who was standing above him.
"Oh, sorry kid." He heard a familiar voice.
"W-What John is that you?" Seraph rubbed his eyes and indeed it was john. "What the hell were you doing?"
John shrugged and replied casually "Your face just looks different is all."
Seraph instinctively touched his face, his other hand still held his bible that he cuddled on to last night "Is there something on my face?"
John just looked at seraph before looking down to his waist, "Oh, You really kept that bible close to you."
Seraph looked down at the bible, held closely to his flabby stomach "Wha- Oh! Yeah, It really calmed me down last night, I actually had a good dream last night!"
John frowned, "That so? You can keep it if you want."
"Really!? Thank you!" Seraph smiled happily, and he wrapped his arms around the bible holding it close to him.
"Don't mention it, I came to your tent to tell you to take your time to get ready. So take your time and meet me back at the spot to train that footwork of yours." John had turned and was exiting out of the tent, he stopped as he reached the exit of the tent and did a lousy salute before leaving.
Seraph got ready, putting on his leather armor and his fantasy styled equipment was getting easier by the morning. A week ago he was struggling to even take it off, but with the help of John who seemed adept in taking off and on these pieces of armor he managed.
He kept the knife that John had given to him on his belt. He wished that he might upgrade from the weapon soon, so John had promised to give him a spear once Seraph could learn a few of his martial arts.
Seraph had only stepped outside the temp before, he suddenly turned around, picked up the bible and hid it in the tent.
Seraph then quickly ran outside, The camp in seraph's eyes was very disorganized and overall just a mess of things. As he walked he could see tents facing random directions or a random firepit in the middle of the 'walkways' people used to maneuver around the camp. If he wasn't here before the camp was fully built he would've been easily lost in the dizzying array of paths and blockages in the camp.
As seraph ran, he saw someone wave to him. His interest was immediately peaked, he looked in their direction to see Astrid waving at him with a gentle smile on her face.
He furrowed his eyebrows, this wasn't unusual for Astrid to be nice to people but he didn't really like astrid and he also had not seen her ever since the battle with the wolves. She had kinda faded in obscurity from his view, but her deeds around camp were widespread and rampant.
She just like John could kill wolves by herself, however defending herself during battles was hard for her so she had to rely on the student president Xu Xun for defense. The duo and their party quickly earned a lot of wolf kills under their belt and could be considered the second strongest party in the camp. The First Strongest obviously belongs to Shi-Won and his friend Alex.
John could only cringe inside when he saw her wave and then begin to walk toward him.
He did an awkward smile and waved back unconsciously, ' I just waved back. . . I can't pull out now... '
