"Come on! You're so slow!" Minsoo shouted from afar as I tried to catch up. I panted loudly as I finally got to the hill Minsoo was standing on. I fell to my knees, tired from all the running. Minsoo laughed at me, breathless as well.
"You know, you're a living noodle, Mi!" She laughed. My eyes widened and I glared at her childishly. Just then, an idea came to me. While she was busy laughing, I grabbed her hand and pulled her down with me. She looked startled and screamed as she fell. Now I was the one laughing, "I win!"
"Hey!!! That's cheating!" She shouted at me angrily. Yet as I laughed, I felt her gaze soften and she smiled slightly. She pushed me onto the grass so I fell back into the fallen Autumn leaves. I continued laughing, not caring if I fell. I laid into the leaves as if they created a soft bed, stopped laughing, and just smiled as I looked up at the sky.
Minsoo layed down next to me as she also stared up at the sky. Less than a minute later, Minsoo spoke, "I'm bored." She sat up and looked down at my face.
"What do you even see in looking at the sky mindlessly?" Minsoo asked her. "It makes me feel peaceful. I really need that sometimes," I replied. Minsoo had a confused look on her face. I looked at my friend.
"Think about things you love. Like, for me, I think about flowers and puppies and kittens and rainbows and-" I was interrupted. "Yuck! You think about THAT when you're happy!?" Minsoo cringed. I smiled at her, "It doesn't matter what you think about, but rather what it means to you. Just think about whatever you like. Try it. Trust me."
Minsoo frowned, but as she layed down to please me and tried it, she felt a sense of calmness and peace. I noticed the calmed down expression on Minsoo's face. Minsoo realized and blushed, embarrassed.
"See! It's nice, right?" I asked. "What!? No! It sucks!" Minsoo screamed. I chuckled, "You know, you don't have to shout. It's okay. Some things just aren't for all of us." Minsoo felt bad, thinking she might've hurt me. I could see it in her eyes. However, she didn't say anything.
Minsoo and I just layed down next to each other. Suddenly, Minsoo grabbed my hand. I looked at Minsoo, confused at her sudden touchy behavior.
"Hey, we'll always be best friends, right? You'll always love me?" Minsoo asked. My eyes widened, "What? What's with all of this touchy and friendship stuff all of a sud-"
"Just answer me!" Minsoo interrupted her. I was hesitant at her sudden outburst but I replied nonetheless, "Yes, of course." Minsoo nodded, letting out a heavy sigh. "But why are you asking me that? Is something wrong?" I asked.
Minsoo, with a heavy heart, explained herself, "I didn't want to tell you this, but it's almost too late. My family and I are moving to China." I'm sure I had a shocked look on my face. "So... this is it?" I asked suddenly. "This is it," Minsoo whispered. We both fell into silence.
"But how will I ever contact you? Our parents dislike each other," I asked after a while. "We won't be able to contact each other. I'm sorry," Minsoo said. We both fell into silence once more.
"But whatever happens, we'll always stay friends. The necklaces will keep us together," Minsoo said, pointing at the pendant around her neck that resembled mine. I looked at it, and smiled, "Yeah."
"I'll always find my way back to you, Mi."
"You promise, Min?"
"Promise."
"Me too."
