The objective was to hunt down a high-level beast that had been killing all the hunters and adventurers that dared to venture there.
Beast crystals were an economic resource in all the kingdoms in the empire of Darkus, including the other two kingdoms which were also situated in the Plain of Mildred.
Adventurers who had been trained with either the sword or magic, were usually the ones in charge of hunting down the monsters, collecting their beast crystals, and bringing them back to be sold, to the royal coffers, especially the high-leveled ones which would then be made into equipment for the military.
