Chereads / How to Fight Your Destiny / Chapter 5 - Servants

Chapter 5 - Servants

"And the two of us are the assigned pair that is going to be the future Chancellor of this world."

"In other words, we are both of your loyal servants."

My what?!?!?

"Did you just say that you two are my servants?"

The pair replied in unison.

"That is correct, Sir Lief?"

What the heck?!?! This is so weird and disturbing! I better ask the old man what the hell is he trying to do right now.

"Hey, old man! Why are you bringing two weirdos into this world? All I asked is for you to do is to teach me what the heck is the Harness thing!"

'You asked me to teach you, right?'

"That is right!"

"Then I brought them here in your world because they are the ones that will teach you everything that you need to learn."

"Wh-what?!?!!?"

I could not help but be shocked even though I should not be noisy at this time. The old man just brought in some random people in my room that says they are my servants and they are supposed to teach me.

"Why the hell are they going to teach? And why the hell are they even here even though you can do it by yourself?"

I just do not need more people from their world or else I would be getting too involved in their business. All I need is enough knowledge to protect myself in case more people are going to bother me in the future. I am still firm on my plan of not following my destiny which is why I am planning on learning as much as possible.

'It is just what the twins said. The two of them are your chancellors and personal servants. They are going to be your companions in your journey to greatness. They are my successors just like yourself being the successor to my liege, Lief.'

"Why the hell would I need some servants or whatever? You can take them back to your homeworld. I do not need them. I just need you to tell me the basics and that would be enough for me!"

After I said what I said, the room became quiet.

The two newcomers shifted from their cheerful faces to a depressed ones.

The facial expression of old man Reverend turned into a scary one.

Did I just say something bad?

'Lief, I already knew that you possess the insensitive and feisty attitude just like your previous lives but I thought you could have said it better. You might not realize it but Allen and Lexa were waiting for the opportunity to meet you ever since they were both selected to be your personal aide. Even though I understand why you are not in favor of their services, I was hoping that you first thought about the feelings of these two. You must realize this. Allen and Lexa will always be with you for the rest of your life because my time as a chancellor is soon to be over.'

Well damn. Now I feel bad about them.

I never really wanted some servants but based on what the old man said, these two must have gone through a lot in order to reach this because I am assuming that being a chancellor is a very prestigious achievement. I guess I was really being inconsiderate about their feelings.

"I understand what you are trying to say, Old Man, which is why I am going to say sorry towards the two of you. I realize that I was being too harsh and inconsiderate. With that being said, even though I feel bad, I still won't change my stance. In my current state right now, I don't see any need of having some servants."

'You are not changing anything here, Li-!'

The old man was interrupted by the male twin.

"I understand what you are trying to say, Sir Lief. It is really tough to suddenly learn that there is a new world and you have previous lives, but my sister and I have been trying our best for our entire life in order to have a chance to become the servant of someone like you which is why just like you, the two of us won't change our stance as well. We are going to try our best in order to convince you that you are going to need our help."

The female twin added.

"I am on the same page as brother Alex. We are not going to waste our hard work ever since we were children. I hope that our sincerity and determination is relayed properly towards you, Sir Lief."

I was speechless. These twins won't just stop. They are persistent!

I looked at the old man and he is grinning.

'I was worried for nothing. What are you going to do now, Lief? It seems like these two won't be budging anytime soon. Are you going to finally accept them?'

Geez. This is really tricky. The old man is right. These two are really determined. I can see it in their eyes.

But no! having them would be just like taking a step towards a path that I do not like which is my destiny on becoming a King! I do not like that. I better do something.

"Hey twins, are you really going to follow me no matter what I do?!"

The two of them replied with no hesitation.

"Absolutely, Sir Lief."

"We were born and created solely for the purpose of being your servant and following your lead!"

They are surely passionate about their job.

"Are you sure? Even though I am planning on fighting my destiny?"

The twins were confused.

"What do you mean by that, sir?"

"My plan is to try my best not to become a King. I learned that my previous lives have tried that same plan but no one has ever succeeded. If the two of you were to become my servants and you are going to follow me whatever my plan is, do you have what it takes to go against the things that you have learned ever since your childhood just to prove your loyalty towards me?"

Wow! That was a great line. Who would have thought that I could pull that off?

What I am trying to do here is to make them realize that I am not messing around here and all. Based on what I can observe, these guys are trained to solely support me in becoming a King. What if I ordered them to help me not become a King? They surely have not learned that before in their training which is why I am predicting that these two are going to falter. They do not have the stomach to go against their hard work.

"Hey, Lief! Stop that! Do not try to influence the-!!!"

"You better stay out of this situation, Old Man. This is my way of testing their skills as well as their aptitude for becoming your successor or whatever. If they are going to serve me then they better be supporting me, not changing my goals and ambitions. You are the one that wanted them to be with me, right? Then they better keep up with me."

After I said that, the old man becomes quiet and looked at the twins. It seems like he is silently rooting for them.

Based on what I can see, these guys are seriously having a rough time which is what I wanted. I better add gasoline to the fire.

"I won't be waiting anytime longer, twins. I still have to sleep so you better decide now."

Right after that, the twin named Lexa replied.

"Tell us what should we do, Sir Lief."

Wait, what?

"What did you just say?"

This time, the other twin Allen responded.

"What are your first orders, Sir Lief? Lexa and I are here to happily serve you."

Wait, I am so confused right now.

"Are you trying to say that you are going to follow me even though I do not have the intention of doing the things that you were trained to do in order to help me?"

The old man was also shocked just like me.

'What are you trying to say, Allen? Lexa?! You are not supposed to give in! Lief wants to stop his destiny and you were trained to go in the opposite direction!'

"Allen and I understand what you are trying to say, sir Reverend. We were originally trained to support him on becoming a King, but during our conversation earlier, I felt the passion and ambition within the words of Sir Lief, and I could not help but admire him. This is why the two of us have decided to follow Sir Lief, no matter what his journey is.

"At the end of the day, the Chancellors were supposed to guide their liege towards the path of greatness based on the teachings. It was never mentioned that it needs to become a King."

"Greatness is basically becoming a King. How are you supposed to guide him towards the path of greatness other than becoming a king?'

Oh boy, looks like I have no choice but to step into this situation.

"The first in history to go against his destiny and not become the King of the World. Isn't that an achievement even better than a plain old common cycle of becoming a King? Don't you think so, Old Man?"

'I thought you do not like the idea of them helping you, Lief? Why are you now supporting their claims? Weren't you trying to scare them away just a while ago?'

"That is correct, Old man, but I had a change of heart. Their dedication moved my heart just like I moved theirs. With that being said, I have officially decided that the twins Allen and Lexa are officially recognized not as my servants, but as my personal companions."
