Causing a diplomatic incident was easy, but getting out of Królewca would be more difficult. The prince and his nine people, and on our side Ossolinski, Zwoliński and I... so I was left alone on this battlefield... the only way for Ossoliński to kill someone was if he sat on someone and Zwoliński... he looked like a man to whom it was a challenge to wipe his ass.
"You and Zwoliński leave the hall and leave the city... take twenty hussars and go to Gdańsk, there you will inform Graf Ferber about my situation, maybe my ships will be in the port. Send the rest of the hussars to the castle, we will defend ourselves here." (MC)
Saying this, I pushed them out the door of the chamber, which I then bolted, it was not a heroic act, but getting rid of the ballast, in the case of Ossoliński literally... There was still chaos in the chamber, and it all lasted for a few seconds which I managed to use.
"We are left alone, your nine and me alone. I have a slight advantage, but life is not always fair." (MC)
My words snapped everyone out of their torpor... the man who attacked me started walking towards in my direction, unarmed, his rapier still stuck in Sikorski's head... before he could do something, I hit him with the hilt of my saber like a brass knuckles.
I heard the sound of a jaw cracking, felt something sticky, warm and wet on my hand... there were nine of them, and eight remained.
The best solution in this situation would be to take the prince hostage and then either run away from the city or defend in the castle and wait for the rescue... eighty hussars are not a small force.
But for now, the most important thing is to buy time... I picked up Sikorski's body and threw it at the Prussians, at least after his death it was useful for something. Before Sikorski's body knocked the prince's men down, I did the same to the opponent's body... they fell like bowling pins.
(Jerzy Ossoliński / Emissary Zwoliński POV)
"What are we doing? Are we really going to Gdańsk?" (Emissary Zwoliński)
"We are doing what Jazłowiecki said... God is my witness, I have not met a greater madman, but when it comes to war matters, I will trust him." (Jerzy Ossoliński)
"What exactly happened there?" (Emissary Zwoliński)
"You've just seen someone start a war, but the blame will fall to the other side... Jazłowiecki has a loose tongue, but even that does not justify an attack on a diplomat. Now the king will have to take a stand... if he ignores this situation, he will lose the support of the nobility, and he cannot afford it. However, Jazłowiecki will bear some consequences of his actions." (Jerzy Ossoliński)
"The king will not be pleased... one madman has led to the war." (Emissary Zwoliński)
"So he did what many did before him." (Jerzy Ossoliński)
(End POV)
I held the saber blade at the prince's neck, and his people did not know how to behave, they were not prepared for such a situation.
"Now you will listen to me, throw your weapon to the other side of the chamber, then you will lie on the floor with your hands on your head and you will not get up until I let you. If you don't..." (MC)
I made a gentle cut on his skin, blood trickled down... as they say, one image is worth more than a thousand words. A few minutes later I heard a knock on the door, I wasn't stupid enough to check for myself who was standing behind it, one of the prince's men did it for me.
Luckily for me, it turned out that it was Rotmistrz Czarniecki with the rest of the hussars. I saw that he was looking around the room and was very surprised by what he was seeing.
"Lord, what happened here?" (Rotmistrz Czarniecki)
"Ossolinski and Zwoliński didn't tell you anything?" (MC)
"No, I gave them soldiers, and we entered the castle ourselves, there weren't many guards, a few more servants. We locked them all in one of the rooms, but a garrison from the city may arrive soon." (Rotmistrz Czarniecki)
"They're just as useful as a whore in the convent. In short... The diplomatic mission failed and we have a war with our vassal. Garrison from the city... send people to the kitchen and pantry, have them gather food and drink, then we barricade upstairs and wait for the rescue, the prince and his people will be our hostages." (MC)
"Wouldn't it be better to leave town and use the prince as a shield?" (Rotmistrz Czarniecki)
"I thought about it, but I have some plans and to implement them we have to be in Królewcu... in this castle, but for now bind the prince and lock him up somewhere, if he escape, you will answer for it with your head." (MC)
When Czarniecki gave the appropriate orders and took the most important prisoner with him, I stayed in the room only with his men.
"I have a proposal for you, I'm sure you will agree. Each of you will write a letter that the prince tried to trick the delegation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth as hostages in order to force the King, whom he considered weak, to make concessions and free himself from the vassal status... of course God gave human free will, so I won't be any worse. You can refuse, but then you will die, and so will your wives, children, mistresses." (MC)
"Where is your noble honor? Murdering prisoners? Women and children? Nobody will believe these lies anyway." (Prisoner)
There will always be courageous one, who thinks he is speaking for everyone.
"Honor? A beautiful and empty word. I prefer a different word, effective and pragmatic..." (MC)
I approached the tied man, lifted him up, choked his mouth with a piece of torn clothes, lowered his pants, put a knife to his testicles and began to castrate him...
"Your death will serve as a warning to others... one life in exchange for the obedience of others, it is not only pragmatic but also effective. It saves me a lot of time." (MC)
