Chapter 111 - 111 Warsaw

"Wilkomir congratulations on taking over Moscow..." (Aleksander Gosiewski)

"Thank you, but the war is not over yet. The time for celebration will come, first we still have to clear the smaller fortresses of Moscow crews... Sierpiejsk, Dorohobuż, Krasny Horodok, Siebież, Newel, Jezierzyszcze, Biała, Wieliż, Uświat, Suraż, Oświej, Druja, Rosław, Krzyczew and Mścisław... the forces that are here on the spot are enough for this task, 15 thousand Cossacks, soldiers and cannons from Smoleńsk and Radziwiłł infantry." (MC)

"For several months I was locked in this city, let me enjoy my freedom ..." (Aleksander Gosiewski)

Gosiewski was really in a good mood and he could relax for now ... as much as I knew him, he always liked to party and have fun, but when it came to his duties, he never neglected them. So he must have been relieved that the siege was over and he could return to his old way of life.

"You've suffered so much, my poor man ... sleeping indoors, a cellar full of wine, lots of food ... I really feel sorry for you." (MC)

"Plague with you and that you would lose your tongue..." (Aleksander Gosiewski)

"If I lose my tongue, who else will praise your victory?" (MC)

"Hetman Jazłowiecki you say that we have to take back these smaller fortresses, and you're not going to do it?" (Hetman Radziwiłł)

"No, I have to go to the capital. We need to take care of our new lands as soon as possible ... and I'm afraid that our King may make a mistake not fully knowing the situation." (MC)

"What are we going to do with the weapons left behind by the Moscow army?" (Hetman Radziwiłł)

"For now, everything will remain in Smolensk, and when the situation normalizes it will be used to strengthen Moscow and other cities and fortresses in the east." (MC)

I already had some plans in my head regarding the lands conquered from Moscow, but to implement them I had to meet some influential people in the capital. We discussed a few more less important topics, I also told them to release the Swedish soldiers and escort them to the border ... a few days later one of the Tatars brought a message that they met Moscow troops on their way and captured most of them, according to the information provided to me three thousand people were killed and 35,000 were taken prisoner... How much truth in this I will probably find out in the future.

The next day, accompanied by two hundred soldiers, boyars and diplomats, I set off for Warsaw... fortunately, spring has come and covering almost 900 kilometers, although not quick and easy, was bearable ... we got there at the end of May.

I directed my first steps to the Jazłowiecki Palace, I had to locate the boyars and diplomats somewhere ... I was thinking about two other options, renting them an inn, but I didn't trust them and wanted to keep an eye on them. The second option was the Royal Palace ... but I didn't trust the King.

"You are my guests, but I am asking you not to leave my palace without guards. Warsaw is a big city, it is easy to get lost and some misfortune may happen to you. The guards are for your safety, thanks to them your bodies will not be found in the Vistula or some dark alley." (MC)

I gave them complete freedom in using the house, a library, a lounge with all sorts of party games, a wine and mead cellar, and of course the servants were at their full disposal... They had almost the same conditions as in the 20th century in a Norwegian prison.

I went to my office, poured myself some wine, and sat down at my desk. I closed my eyes ... Gustav Adof died a few half years ago at the Battle of Lützen ... just like it was in history. His death was not a big problem, at least for me, but it probably stimulated the Polish king's ambitions again ... it was a bit disturbing. No matter what I did and how my actions influenced the world, the world always reminded me that he was holding me by the balls ... It was now the end of May 1633, so in a little over a month Hetman Lew Sapieha will die, and Aleksander Gosiewski will be appointed in his place. I wish I could clone myself or be in many places at once... I called the servant to go to the Royal Castle and informed Tomasz Zamoyski and Hetman Potocki that I was in Warsaw and wanted to meet them.

A moment later Sveta came to my office, she threw herself on my neck and started kissing my face ... I left the woman for a few months, I come back and I have a Labrador... She didn't say anything, just hugged me and I think she was crying, but I wasn't sure.

After a few minutes she let go of me, wiped her hand over eyes and cheeks ...

"Lord... Wilkomir... forgive... you're not wounded?" (Sveta)

It was a bit strange and surprising of her, Sveta was emotional at times... but not so much, unless she was pregnant. I looked at her, she was thin... Thank God. I was away for a few months, if she were pregnant ... I would have to kill her.

"I am alive and well. The war was rather boring, I hardly left the tent." (MC)

"It must have been cold in there..." (Sveta)

"It was bearable. It's not the first time I've been in a war and you've never been so worried." (MC)

"I had a bad feeling something was going to happen to you ... I don't know how to explain it..." (Sveta)

I understood her well, in my previous life I had a friend who was afraid of vaccines, he was sure that as soon as he is vaccinated, he would die and he was right, the next day after vaccination he was dead ... he drove drunk and died in a car accident ... accident, but the suspicions remained.

"... I also told Piotr that you are his father." (Sveta)
