I will not be able to explain it to you, but on that day, September 10, 2020, humanity fell into a deep sleep...
My name is Yume KAWASHIMA. I am 21 years old and I am Japanese. To be frank with you, I find life extremely banal. And I speak well in knowledge.
This has already brought me several remarks like
"You are the only person I know who asks so many questions".
Or even
"For a 21 year old, you are really mature".
In short, if life was a video game, I would have already passed the last level a long time ago.
But it's not. Life is something real, you can't expect to see a zombie wave coming to infect you or an alien ship coming to colonize your planet.
That's why I spend my life (in my free time of course) reading novels or playing video games trying to get into the story.
Yume in his office
"Finally the lunch break, I have to hurry up not to miss my bus"
Indeed every noon I was rushing back to my 38m² for some very sacred things for me: "THE LUNCH!"
It was the third thing I did if I wasn't playing or reading.
As soon as I got back to my apartment, I hurriedly took off my shoes and ran to jump into bed. It only took me a few minutes to fall a sleep.
But just as everything seemed normal, a mysterious smell began to be felt in almost every continent of the world.
In the streets, in the city centers, in the parks this smell did not go unnoticed and questioned many people.
"What is it?"
"You smell that weird"
"It's not that I don't like you, but you should think about brushing your teeth sometime".
"But since I'm telling you it's not coming from me!"
And all of a sudden many people fell down tired.
While I was enjoying my sweet nap, I woke up with a delay trying to understand where this smell was coming from but I barely had time to get up when I fell back into my bed.
After a few seconds I could see that all of humanity had fallen a sleep.
For a short time I thought I was projected in another world.
I opened my eyelids and looked around trying to figure out where I was when suddenly a window emerged before my eyes. It looked like the kind of window you find in video games.
[Integration mission:
- Goal: Keep the "old lady" alive with the water pipe for 10 minutes.
- Success: Citizen card offered
- Failure: You will fail. ]
While I was reading the message, a young woman interloqued me.
"Hey! You are finally awake! Hurry up, we only have 7 minutes left".
It wasn't hard for me to see the desperation in her eyes that looked empty. But that wasn't the thing that concerned me the most.
"First of all, try to calm down and take a deep breath, there's plenty of time" I said, looking her straight in the eyes.
She took a deep breath and explained.
"While you were still unconscious, I managed to use the water channel to feed the old lady. But unfortunately this canal only drops a drop every second. We will never be able to keep her alive for the remaining time."
True, seeing her desperate didn't concern me more than that not because I don't care about people. But rather because there was a simple solution to this problem.
To be continued...
