-Monday – 6 days until Christmas and Yule Ball-

It had been two days since my first dance class, and I could say that for my first class I had done really well... Or at least that's what Penny told me.

Dancing wasn't actually that different from fighting, so it wasn't too difficult for me to learn and memorize the right ballroom dancing moves.

And in fact, the only reason I would still take dance classes was to practice more and also because I needed to learn to keep up with my partner's rhythm and the rhythm of the music.

But dancing classes aside, there was another problem I was facing because of this damn Yule Ball.

I was having a hard time finding a girl to ask to ball, and although there were a lot of girls wanting to be my date, none of them were good enough.

Some girls only wanted to go with me because of my current fame and influence, thinking it would be the perfect opportunity to approach me and try to create a relationship with the Hogwarts champion and Flamels' grandson.

And other girls just wanted to go to ball with me because they knew it would make them the center of attention for one night.

But of course, not all the girls wanted to go to the ball with me just out of personal interest. Some looked up to me or saw me as some kind of knight in shining armor, but even those girls didn't catch my attention.

And it wasn't because they weren't attractive, cool or interesting, but because I wanted to go with someone who was close to me, who really knew me, who didn't just see me as Ethan Night, the Ravenclaw star student and Hogwarts champion.

And the more I thought about it the more I realized how difficult it would be for me to find a date, since the only girls I could think of that fit my criteria were my friends, and unfortunately I couldn't imagine going to the ball with any of them.

Well, I could invite some of them to go just as friends, but I knew how important these balls were for teenagers, especially for girls, as it was their chance to go with the boys they liked.

And knowing this, I couldn't invite them because I knew they would agree to be my date just to help me, and going to ball with me would ruin their night, which was supposed to be amazing and perfect.

'Sigh... Damn teenage problems...' I thought.

And not for the first time I cursed the fact that I had to go through all the stages of life again, including the disturbing and hormonal adolescence.

-In the afternoon-

'Let's see... Today I still have a Herbology class in greenhouse 7 and a practical Defense Against the Dark Arts class' I thought, wandering aimlessly through the castle corridors.

'After these classes I'll have the rest of the day free to myself, so I think I'll head to the Forbidden Forest to continue with my research on the Thestrals' I put a hand on my chin, 'And I think I'll ask Nick or Penny to help me with my research... Maybe their Magic Insight will see something that I can't see with my Magic Vision, even if it's unlikely'

And with a nod to myself I continued my walk.

Lunch had just ended, and now it was the students' break before afternoon classes, and as I didn't have anything very urgent or important to do at the moment I decided to take a walk around the castle.

And I was walking relaxed through Hogwarts, but when I passed through one of the corridors on the fourth floor I felt some magical signatures in front of me, and I could feel that the magical signature that was furthest away belonged to my friend Luna.

And with a happy smile I started to approach where I felt Luna was.

And turning the corner of the corridor, I stopped, as the sight in front of me made me angry.

Luna was sitting on a bench in front of a window, reading an issue of The Quibbler with a calm look while not seeming to be paying attention to her surroundings.

But I knew she was faking it, and I could feel that she was sad and depressed, and the reason for her sadness was a group of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff girls who were standing on the other side of the corridor.

I recognized some of these girls as being fifth and sixth years, and from what I remembered of them they were typical self-centered girls who only cared about their appearance and influence.

They were huddled together talking and whispering to each other, but they weren't trying to keep their voices down, obviously wanting Luna to hear what they were saying.

"I feel sorry for people who have to be friends with someone so strange" one of the Hufflepuff girls, the tall one with short hair, said in a mocking tone.

"Yes, it must be difficult to deal with all these... oddities" a blonde Gryffindor girl nodded, making a face.

"That's true, but look at the other side... Having someone like that around is almost the same as having your own circus attraction entertaining you every day." the smallest of the girls said, and then she and her friends started laughing.

And it was obvious to anyone that they were talking about Luna, and the dreamy girl herself realized it, and I could see how she sank into her seat with a sad look on her face.

And seeing this made me completely angry, and not wanting to let Luna continue to suffer the insults and mockery of these girls, I went towards them.

"What are you doing?!" I asked as I approached the group of girls, looking at them with an angry look.

"Night?!" one of them exclaimed in surprise.

"No, the Easter Bunny" I scoffed, before looking at Luna and seeing that she was looking at me with slightly wide eyes.

'Ethan?' she thought, surprised but a little happy.

And realizing that my presence had alleviated her feelings of sadness, I smiled, nodding my head at her.

"Uh... H-Hi Night..." the short-haired Hufflepuff girl stuttered, making me look back at them.

And under my cold gaze the girl didn't back away scared, in fact she started to look away with slightly flushed cheeks.

'Huh?' I looked at her strangely.

"Good afternoon Night" I heard someone say, and turning around I saw one of the Gryffindor girls, who seemed to be the oldest of the group, looking at me with a seductive smile, "You look very good today" she said.

"Hmph, that's no surprise, I look good every day" I rolled my eyes, not hiding that I was irritated.

"Yes, that's true" she laughed.

She then started to approach me, "You know, the Yule Ball is coming up, and I heard you don't have a date yet... and it turns out neither do I," she said, in a tone that made me uncomfortable, "So I was thinking, why don't we go together?"

And hearing this I stopped, blinking in complete shock.

"Wait, are you asking me to the ball?" I asked, and she nodded.

"Yes, I am," she said, and her friend next to her stepped forward.

"Darcy, this is cheating!" she exclaimed with an upset pout, "I was going to ask him to the ball too!"

"Yes, you should have talked to us before doing this!" the short-haired Hufflepuff girl complained.

"Well, first come, first served," the Gryffindor girl named Darcy shrugged.

And seeing these girls arguing and fighting over me made me look at them with my mouth open.

'What the fuck is going on?!' I exclaimed in my mind.

'Do they... Do they really think I'm going to go to the ball with them after they made fun of my friend in front of me!?' I asked myself, impressed by the boldness and stupidity of these girls.

'How can someone be so shameless?'

But these girls didn't know my thoughts and continued arguing among themselves, and looking to the side I saw Luna looking at the group of girls with her head tilted with a confused expression.

And looking between Luna and the girls who were making fun of her just now, an idea started to come to my mind.

'Well, it's not exactly a punishment for them, but it will be a big blow to their ego' I thought, and I hid the vengeful smile that threatened to appear on my face, before looking at Luna with a twinkle in my eye.

"Huh?" Luna looked at me confused when she noticed my gaze, 'Why is Ethan looking at me like that? And why is he smiling?'

End.
