Yeah! Here's the new chapter!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't know why Greengrass wanted to talk to me, and I could only look at her cautiously with an analytical eye.
We could be classmates and be in the same study group, but I could count on one hand the number of times we talked in those four years, and I would still have fingers left over.
And those few short conversations we had were never friendly, and they usually ended with me annoying Greengrass and her leaving furious and frustrated.
And with all these facts, it wouldn't be strange to say that our relationship was one of hostility and conflict, with the two of us always antagonizing each other, almost like 'enemies'.
And that's precisely why seeing Greengrass wanting to talk to me while trying to be respectful and 'friendly' was a surprise.
'Hmm, I have no reason to agree to talk to her' I thought, rubbing my chin, 'But I promised Astoria that I would try to get along with her sister, and besides, I'm curious to know what she wants to talk to me about.'
And finishing my moment of analysis and reflection I looked at the blonde Slytherin girl in front of me.
'Hmph, why is it always a blonde girl?' I snorted in my mind.
But shaking my head I returned to focusing on the main subject.
"Okay, I'll talk to you" I said, and Greengrass nodded.
"Good" she said, but I could sense that she wasn't really happy about having this conversation.
'It's obvious she doesn't want to talk to me, so why is she insisting on this?' I asked myself.
And I knew I would only find out the answer to that after talking to Greengrass, and that's why I started the conversation.
"So, what do you want to talk to me about?...Actually, why do you want to talk to me?" I looked at her curiously.
"I want to talk to you to end any grudge or intrigue we have" she replied.
And hearing her answer I looked at her strangely.
And I could feel that she was being honest, but it only made me more confused and wary, and I began to wonder if she had ulterior motives.
"Really? Are you sure you didn't come to talk to me because I defeated a dragon?" I asked, "Or maybe because I'm the Flamels' grandson?"
"Do you think I came to talk to you just out of personal interest?" she asked indignantly, looking at me with a frown, "What kind of person do you think I am?"
"An arrogant and cold girl who sees everyone around her as inferior, unless they have 'pure blood', money, or some kind of influence and political importance" I replied, looking at Greengrass calmly.
And upon seeing me respond so directly and without hesitation, Greengrass blinked without reacting.
"I'm not like that" she said, and I just looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Are you sure?" I asked, and she stopped, a little unsure of her answer.
Greengrass then shook her head before looking at me with a frown.
"Why are you acting so cautious?" she asked, "I'm just trying to make peace with you and end this enmity between us."
"Oh sure" I rolled my eyes, "The girl who always despised me is now acting friendly towards me. This is obviously nothing suspicious and is no reason to be cautious" I said sarcastically.
"I never said I despised you" she frowned.
"You didn't have to, your actions, looks and expressions told me that" I shrugged, "And that was only on our first interaction on the train to Hogwarts"
And remembering how she looked down on me and ignored me the entire train ride our first year, Greengrass looked down, realizing I was right.
"It looks like you finally realized how you've been acting this whole time," I said, looking at her coldly, "So answer me Greengrass, and I want the truth... Why do you want to talk to me?"
And with my incessant questioning and my intense gaze, Greengrass felt pressured, but after a few seconds of looking at her feet she raised her head, and I could see a determined look on her face.
"Do you want the truth? Okay" she said, "The truth is that there are two reasons why I am acting friendly towards you and talking to you, and the first is because I am curious about you"
"Curious about me?" I looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes. You are a boy who I always judged as irritating, arrogant and show-off, who never took anything seriously and who did not respect our traditions" she said, and I made a face.
"Wow, thanks" I said dryly.
But Greengrass ignored me and continued talking, "But I can't deny that you are intelligent and very good at magic, so good that it's abnormal."
"And it's not just that. You, somehow, managed to get the attention of the Flamels to the point of making them consider you their grandson, in addition to having also defeated and tamed one of the most dangerous beasts in the world" and Greengrass was staring at me intensely as she said this, "And all these facts are more than enough reasons for you to arouse my curiosity."
"Oh..." I said, and I couldn't deny that if I met someone who had all these achievements I would also be curious about him or her.
"...So that means I was right when I said you were interested in me because of the dragon and my grandparents" I commented, and Greengrass looked at me dryly.
"That's not the point," she said.
"But I was still right" I shrugged.
And Greengrass pursed her lips as she stared at me, which only made me more pleased.
But putting aside my satisfaction in annoying Greengrass, I returned to focusing on the main subject.
"Okay, I understand your first reason, but what is the second?" I asked.
"Oh, the second reason is that Astoria wanted me to try to get along with you."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"Is the second reason really your sister?" I asked with a strange look.
"Yes" Greengrass shrugged, "She's my sister and your friend, and because of that she didn't want to see us fighting, so she asked me to be at least a little more friendly with you"
"Oh, she asked me that too."
"Wait, really?" the Slytherin girl asked me, and I nodded.
"Yes, and I wanted to deny it since I didn't want to get involved with you, but she looked at me with those eyes." I said, making a face.
"Those big cute eyes? That makes you want to do everything she asks?" she asked me.
"Yes," I replied, realizing I wasn't the only victim of Astoria's puppy dog eyes.
And upon hearing my confirmation, Greengrass looked at me sympathetically, "I understand, it's really hard to resist those cute eyes" she sighed.
And seeing this I raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, so the cold, indifferent ice queen has a weakness?" I asked with a slight mocking smile.
"Haha" she laughed dryly with a frown on her face.
But I could feel that she wasn't irritated, and in fact I could feel the amusement coming from her, and I started to realize that maybe she wasn't as bad as I thought.
'Well, if even Malfoy has salvation and can be forgiven, then so can she' I thought.
And I was so focused on my conversation with Greengrass that I hadn't noticed that my friends hadn't left the library after the study group session ended.
And they were actually standing some distance away from us, looking at me and Greengrass with various expressions on their faces.
Some of my friends looked at us in surprise, others looked at us with fear, and some had analytical looks as they looked at the two of us talking.
"Hey, is it just me or is anyone else seeing Ethan talking peacefully to Greengrass?" Stephen asked shocked.
And Anthony beside him pinched himself to see if he wasn't dreaming.
"I always thought she wanted to murder him, so why are they talking so friendly?" Terry asked with his hand on his chin.
"Huh? Why did you think that?" Sue turned to him in confusion.
"Have you seen the way she looks at him in classes and study group sessions? That is the look of a person who wants to hang someone" he replied.
And hearing this Sue stopped, remembering all our classes and study group sessions in which Greengrass was present.
"Well, now that you mention it, the way she looks at him really is strange." the Asian girl said.
"Aren't you guys exaggerating?" Hannah asked, looking at Terry and Sue nervously.
"Yeah. Maybe she looks at him that way because she has a crush on him" Justin said.
And upon hearing this, almost everyone in the group stopped, looking at the naive Hufflepuff boy with incredulous looks before starting to laugh.
'Huh? Did I say something funny?' he wondered in confusion.
End.
