-Thursday – Day of the first DADA lesson-

Today was the long awaited day. The day we fourth year students would have our first DADA class with Moody.

Or should I call him Barty?... Or Moody Junior? Alastor Crouch?

You know, to avoid any kind of confusion I'm going to call him Moody, since even though it's someone else using his appearance, he was still acting like Moody and everyone else thinks he's the crazy old auror.

But back to the point, as today would be our first DADA class with someone who was capable in the subject and who had great achievements involving fighting the dark arts, all the students were excited and expectant.

I could feel the anxiety emanating from the students, and even though I already knew what Moody was going to teach us, and had seen firsthand what the Unforgivable were like, even using the darkest and most lethal of them, I was still a little curious to attend his class.

But unfortunately I would have to wait until the end of the afternoon to have my class which will be joint with the Slytherins, and meanwhile the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs will have had their lesson with Moody, where the Death Eater playing the paranoid old Auror will terrify Neville with his demonstration of the Cruciatus Curse and will make Harry shaken by talking and showing the Killing Curse.

But I would expect no less from a psychopathic, sadistic Death Eater like Barty Crouch Junior.

-DADA Classroom – Penultimate class of the day-

It was finally time for our long-awaited DADA class, and my classmates and I were already sitting in the classroom while we waited for Moody to arrive.

But we Ravenclaws weren't the only ones to arrive early in class. The Slytherins, as excited as we were for a very obvious reason, were also in the room sitting and talking animatedly.

And out of all the Slytherins the most excited were those who belonged to Malfoy's group, and only the platinum haired boy himself wasn't as excited, and I could tell from his emotions that he was nervous and a little scared.

'Apparently being turned into a ferret traumatized Malfoy more than I expected' I thought, again feeling sad that I hadn't seen the scene of Moody transforming him.

"Hey, do you think Moody will show us the Unforgivable Curses too?" Stephen, who was sitting with Michael at the front table, asked oddly excitedly, turning towards us and snapping me out of my pensive moment.

"Well... If he showed them to the Gryffindors and the Hufflepuffs, then he'd be expected to show us the curses too" Terry, who was next to me, replied.

"Yes, but I heard that some teachers didn't like him speaking or showing us the Unforgivables" Anthony said, joining in the conversation as he leaned forward, sitting with Padma at the table behind mine, "In fact Professor Sprout was quite upset because he scared some of her badgers."

"And how do you know that?" Michael asked him with a raised eyebrow.

"Padma told me" he replied pointing to our Indian friend who was deep in conversation with the other girls.

"And how does SHE know that?"

"Mandy" was Anthony's only response.

"Oh" Michael said, knowing that when it came to gossip, our talkative friend would always be the first to know.

"Well, I can understand Professor Sprout," Terry began to say, bringing our attention back to the main subject, "But she also has to understand that at some point or another we would have to learn about the Unforgivables in the DADA class... And it's better now with a competent teacher than someone as capable as, I don't know, Quirrell," he said, snorting derisively at the end.

"That's true" Stephen nodded, grimacing as he remembered our first stammering DADA teacher.

'Hmm, they'd be surprised to learn that Quirrell knew a lot about Defense Against the Dark Arts, or rather just the Dark Arts. And I'm pretty sure he could cast Unforgivables better than Moody could.…' I thought, cocking my head to the side.

'But actually I don't think that would be Quirrell's merit, as he would only be able to do that because of Voldemort possessing him'

'And that being said, I just realized that somehow in our first year we had what is considered by many to be the greatest dark lord that ever lived as our teacher' I thought, blinking at this sudden realization.

But my thoughts were interrupted by heavy footsteps coming towards the classroom, and the sound of metal and wood hitting the floor rang out, giving me a hint of who was coming.

And just as I expected, opening the door rudely and walking through it as his magical eye swiveled scanning the room and every student was Moody, just as scary as the first day.

And his presence alone was enough to silence all of the students, something I previously thought only Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall could do.

But while Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall had different presences, where one caused fear and nervousness in those around, and the other demanded respect and attention from everyone, Moody managed to convey both in an incredible way.

Only his presence, which was enhanced by his appearance and his stories as an Auror, managed to make the students fear him, respect him, and above all, admire him.

"Put away your books! We won't be needing them here!" he snarled at all of us in his deep voice, startling a few students.

And not a second later all the Defense Against the Dark Arts books that were on top of the tables ended up in their owners bags.

And finishing putting the books away, the students looked back at Moody expectantly, or in Malfoy's case, with fear.

Seeing the students' excited look, Moody just snorted, picking up the roll call that was on top of his desk.

And while Moody was calling the students' names to confirm their presence, I kept looking at him, having been paying attention to his movements and feelings since he entered the room.

And nobody noticed thanks to Barty's Oscar-worthy level of acting, but I could hear the slight sneer and disgust in his tone when he called out Stephen's name, realizing that he had a last name that didn't belong to any wizarding family he knew, which meant he was a muggleborn.

But his well-hidden scorn was also directed at some Slytherins, or more specifically, those who had a relative who was part of the Death Eaters' inner circle, having escaped imprisonment by claiming to be under the Imperius.

'Apparently Barty really despises those who decided to lie their way out of prison instead of proudly declaring their support for his master' I mused.

"Well, you're all here" Moody said, putting the roll call away before turning back to look at us, "I already know what you learned in DADA and I know what level you are at, and the only thing I can say is it's just that you guys are so far behind when it comes to curses!"

"You've learned all you can about magical creatures and how to fight them, but the greatest danger when it comes to the dark arts is the wizards themselves!" he started to say, going over to his desk and opening one of his drawers.

"In this world we live in, you will be more likely to face a dark wizard than any of the creatures you studied, and so I will teach you about everything a wizard can do to another, and how to defend against him!"

"Now, we will have less than 1 year for me to teach you everything I can and put you at an acceptable level in the Hogwarts criteria" he then took from inside his drawer three glass jars that contained 3 live spiders inside, placing them on top of his desk for all of us to see.

"And to begin with, I'm going to teach you about the three cruelest and most dangerous curses in existence, punished most severely under the law for their uses..." Here Moody stopped, leaning back against his desk as he stared at all of us with his normal eye as the magical eye spun around wildly, letting a tense and suspenseful atmosphere emerge in the classroom.

"I will teach you about the Unforgivable Curses!" he said, and all the students started looking at each other excitedly.

Even though everyone already knew the content of the class, they couldn't help but get excited about the fact that they were going to learn about such famous and dangerous curses.

And I, who was also curious and a little excited for the class, couldn't help but notice the short burst of euphoria that came from Moody.

'Barty must be excited to be able to use the Unforgivables in front of so many people without having to worry about the law' I thought, staring at the man in front of me with a slightly furrowed brow.

End.
