Yeah! Here's the new chapter!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hmm, I think this is far enough away" I said to myself, already being deep in the forest away from all the confusion that was going on in the camp because of the black mark.
Feeling that no one was near me, and also feeling that I was out of the wards I cast a cleansing spell on myself, getting all the sweat and blood off my clothes.
Right after that I also transfigured my clothes back into my pajamas, and giving myself a final check I nodded.
"Yeah, now it doesn't look like I was participating in a massacre," I muttered, before looking up, seeing the black mark glowing emerald in the star-filled night sky.
"It may have a bad meaning, but the dark mark really does have an imposing presence... I think that's what happens when you have a connection with one of the greatest dark lords that ever lived" and saying that I looked one last time for the creepy skull in the sky before sighing, shaking my head.
"Well, let's stop thinking about it. I have bigger problems waiting for me" I thought of my worried parents a grimace came over my face.
'I'm so screwed' I thought.
And with that thought in mind, I concentrated, before Apparating away with a loud pop.
As soon as I reappeared I noticed that I was in the backyard of my house, and using my senses I could feel my parents inside the house, with many feelings of nervousness, fear and worry coming from them.
With some nervousness I approached the house, before opening the backdoor and stepping inside.
Walking slowly to the living room I could hear my parents talking, and taking a deep breath I revealed myself, making both of them look at me in surprise.
And before I could say anything the two of them rushed towards me, before hugging me tightly.
"Oh dear, are you okay?" my mom asked, her head on my neck as she hugged me, "You're not hurt, are you?" she pulled away, looking at my body for injuries.
"No mom, I'm not hurt" I replied.
"Sigh... I'm glad" my dad said in relief, before earning an annoyed look, "Now can you tell me what trick that was!?" he asked.
"I did that to keep you guys safe" I replied calmly, and my mom then spoke.
"Then why didn't you come with us?! You wanted to keep us safe while still being in danger?!" she yelled at me.
"I didn't know if the portkey would support one more person, and besides, I wasn't in danger" I started to say, "I'm a wizard, did you forget?"
"Of course we haven't forgotten, but that doesn't mean you're immune from any danger and that you can't get hurt" my dad said.
"Yes, but I had a better chance of not getting hurt compared to you muggles" I snapped, and at the same moment I could see something flicker in my parents' eyes, and for some reason I felt bad.
"Muggles... wizards... are we that different from you?" my mom asked in a low tone, and I could feel sadness coming from her.
"No…that's not what I meant…" I replied.
My mom then looked at me, and I could see tears in her eyes, and looking at my dad I could also see a sad look on his face.
"You are our son Ethan, but I feel that you are distancing yourself from us... Sometimes it seems that you feel that we belong to different worlds..." and hearing my dad say this I stopped, feeling as if I had got punched in the stomach.
And I couldn't even refute that, because if I thought about it I really was considering my parents different from me because of magic.
"I-I... I didn't mean to..." I tried to reply but didn't know what to say.
I never realized it before, but subconsciously and sometimes consciously I considered myself better than Muggles, and even better than my own parents, just because I had a special ability.
And thinking about it I realized that my actions didn't differentiate me much from the purebloods who considered themselves superior, almost gods when compared to those who didn't have magic.
And with that realization I bowed my head in shame and sadness, feeling that I had failed myself.
And as my thoughts bubbled through my mind I felt two arms gently encircling me.
And looking up I saw my mom hugging me again.
"I don't want you to think that we are angry or disappointed in you, we just want you to trust us more dear" she told me in an affectionate voice.
"And please, if something like what happened today happens again, don't send us away like that" my dad continued, "We were very worried, and we would rather you let us take the risk if it meant that we would stay together"
And when he finished saying that he raised his hand, before placing it on my shoulder.
And feeling my dad's hand on my shoulder, together with my mom's hug and her words I could no longer hold back my emotions, which had been tightly controlled since the start of the Death Eaters' attack.
And with my emotions released I hugged my mom back, before I noticed the tears were streaming down my cheeks.
"I'm sorry…" I mumbled.
"Shh...don't worry" my mom said in a soft voice, running her hand through my hair reassuringly.
I didn't regret what I had done, as the protection of my parents and Cele was my first priority, and on top of that I needed to be alone to go after the Death Eaters.
But I knew that what I did had hurt my parents in ways other than physically, and that's something I can't forgive myself for doing.
And sensing their emotions and sensing the concern they had for me, I let myself be absorbed by that feeling of care.
And in that moment I made a promise to myself that I would not alienate my parents anymore, and that I would think about their feelings before doing anything that involved them.
'I'm glad the situation was resolved like this, I expected more questions and my parents scolding me' I thought, closing my eyes with a relieved sigh.
"Oh, and before I forget, you're grounded," my mom said, causing me to freeze.

"...Okay" was the only thing I could say, accepting that I couldn't win every battle.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before dawn Sirius appeared at the door of our house, wanting to know if my parents were all right and that I had arrived safely.
When he realized that we were all together and well he was relieved, and so I asked him if he managed to find Harry.
He then told me that everyone was fine, and that it took him a while to find Harry as he was also helping to contain the Death Eaters.
He also said that when he found Harry after the Dark Mark appeared, he saw Mr. Crouch interrogating his godson about the mark in the sky, and that it was only thanks to Remus' intervention that he didn't end up punching the 'Old bastard with a pervert moustache' in the face.
I regretted the fact that Sirius didn't hit the Crouch Senior, but I put that thought aside when I noticed that Sirius was acting strangely, as if he was trying to hide something.
And when the afternoon came and the Daily Prophet newspaper arrived I discovered the reason why he was acting like this.
The main story in the paper was about the fiasco that happened at the Quidditch World Cup final, and as well as talking about the Death Eaters attack the article was also giving too high a focus to another happening.
And this event was called the massacre of the mystery killer.
In the news it talked about a wizard who was going around the camp killing purebloods from respectable families.
Of course, this was obviously a way for the powerful families to change the actual event so that their image wouldn't be tarnished, but I didn't mind that for two reasons.
The first was that I didn't care what the public thought as I was only aiming to eliminate the scum of wizarding society.
And the second reason was that there were many witnesses when I killed these men, and at some point it would spread to everyone that these noble and honorable purebloods killed were actually the death eaters who were causing terror and panic in the camp.
And I knew that because many of the people I saved were from other countries, and they are not going to be silent about what happened. And the great families of the UK were not going to be able to silence the voices of these victims or change what was said in the newspapers of their countries.
And even here in Britain it won't be long before others start spreading the truth through gossip and rumours.
But I didn't mind too much, as my only concern was about the investigation that the ministry and DMLE led by Amelia were doing about me, or rather, the mystery killer.
'Well, it'll be interesting to see what they say about me in the next few days' I thought, resting my chin on my hand.
'Hmm, maybe in my next appearance I'll leave some mark or symbol for the investigators and conspiracy theorists' I reflected, imagining myself as one of the vigilantes or serial killers I see in police investigation movies on television.
End.
