-Hogwarts, Room of Requirement - Morning-

[POV – Ethan]

"Come on Ethan, you remember the feeling" I said to myself, with my eyes closed in the middle of the Room of Requirement training room.

I then started to spin my magic inside me, passing it through my body and feeling my hair stand on end.

After that my arms started to dissolve into mist, with the rest of my body following soon after, leaving only my head still normal.

However, my upper body didn't remain as mist all the time, and it started to reform again, but then I took a deep breath and passed more magic through myself, causing it to turn to mist again.

When I felt that I was properly concentrated I relaxed, opening my eyes and looking in front of me, where there was an iron ball floating, just waiting for my order.

"Okay, test number 54" I said, and focusing on the iron ball I let the magic take over my body, "Attack!"

And after I said that, the calmingly floating iron ball swayed a bit before rushing forward menacingly towards me.

I then started to move, feeling my body that was still mist obeying my commands.

However, I still couldn't control this form very well, and so I was too slow to dodge the iron ball, which hit me in the chest.

But instead of the pain and impact I was expecting, the only thing I felt was a strange sensation, before I heard a crash coming from behind me.

Looking back I saw that the iron ball was stuck in some debris from a shelf it had just destroyed, and confused I looked down at my chest.

In the place where the iron ball should have hit me was a hole, which soon began to close thanks to the fact that I was still made of mist from the neck down.

As soon as the hole completely closed my body began to reform, and I had my flesh and blood body back, and unsurprisingly, there was no hole in my chest, not even an injury.

"Success" I whispered, a slight smile appearing on my face which started to grow until I had a big excited smile on my face, "YES! I did it! It was a success!" I cheered, throwing my fist in the air.

But as I celebrated my senses alerted me to an attack coming from behind me, and I turned around in confusion, only to find the iron ball flying fiercely towards me, having broken free of the debris.

And even surprised I still managed to dodge the iron ball, throwing myself back and rolling, and quickly turning around I cast a powerful wandless explosive spell at the iron ball, destroying it.

"Phew... that was close," I said, standing up as I wiped some sweat from my forehead.

I then sat down on the floor, breathing deeply and relaxing my body, tired from all my training.

But even though I was tired I was still very happy and relieved, as I had finally made great progress on this spell.

I had been having trouble completing this spell since the moment I thought of replicating it, or better said, improving it.

Sometimes the problem was that I couldn't fully concentrate, thinking about the many things that are happening and will happen, with the current focus being on Sirius' trial and next school year's Triwizard Tournament.

But after my fight with the basilisk I knew that something had changed, as if something that had been blocked had been released.

Perhaps my accidental burst of magic that caused me to unconsciously use this spell made my job easier, like a new level being unlocked.

And with that happening, I started to wonder if I should consider this as magic itself helping and guiding me like it does Nick and Penny.

But well, back to the subject, I had decided to do another test with this spell today because I didn't have many things on my mind and I had free time.

I didn't have to worry about the Ministry, as even with me at school, my parents, Sirius, the Tonks, the Flamels and Amelia would still go along with the plan to exonerate Sirius.

But I also didn't plan on being idle for a long time, as I wanted to help with the plan and I could do that from within the school. And besides, I could always do a quick visit using the Vanishing Cabinet.

But that aside, I was still excited that I finally succeeded, even if not completely, in using my unsupported flight spell, or should I call that a skill now?

"Well, it doesn't matter now" I said to myself, laying down on the ground, "Now I just need to master this spell completely, and then train the speed at which I turn into mist"

In addition to turning into mist, I also wanted to know if I could use this form of mine to attack my enemies, like Credence, or Aurelius does when his Obscurus dominates him.

"Maybe I can transform my body into other elements too, that way if I transform into lightning and walk past someone I can electrocute them" I mused, but then I shook my head.

"No, if I'm already having difficulty controlling my body in the form of mist, who knows what will happen if I transform my body into lightning, which is an element more uncontrolled and volatile than air" I continued, doing a grimace at the thought of what could happen.

Sighing, I looked up, lost in thought.

"Well... I may not be able to transform into lightning, but there are other elements that are easier and smoother" I said.

I would continue with my questioning and planning, however I felt the weariness of all my training and testing catch up with me, and so I closed my eyes, deciding to take a quick nap before lunch time.

-Professor McGonagall's Office - After Lunch-

After lunch with my Hufflepuff friends, I was strolling through the halls of the castle enjoying the moment and relaxing when I saw Professor McGonagall heading towards her office.

Remembering that I had some business to discuss with her, I called her over and, after explaining that I wanted to speak with her, I followed her to her office, which was where we were at this very moment.

"So Ethan, how are you?" Professor McGonagall asked with a slight smile, and I smiled at her too.

"I'm fine Professor Minnie" I said with a cheeky smile, and she snorted in amusement.

"Cheeky boy…" she muttered to herself, making me smile even wider. Professor McGonagall then shook her head slightly, "But then, what would you like to talk to me about?" she asked.

"Well, I heard you confiscated a broom that Harry got as a gift... Is that true?" I asked, and hearing this Professor McGonagall's smile faded a little and she sighed.

"Let me guess, you're here at Mr. Potter's request to try to get me to return the broom to him, right?" she asked wearily, and I realized that I probably wasn't the first person to come up to her about the broom.

And thinking about it Wood's name quickly came to mind, and I snorted, knowing how insistent he is.

"Yes, I'm here to ask you to return the broom to him, but he didn't ask me to do that" I said, "Actually he probably doesn't even know I'm here" I shrugged.

"Really?" Professor McGonagall asked.

"Yes, and I'd like to ask you not to tell him that I talked to you about the Firebolt when you return the broom to him."

"That is if we authorized him to use the Firebolt" Professor McGonagall huffed.

"And I know you will," I said with a nod, and Professor McGonagall looked at me with a raised eyebrow.

"And what makes you think that? We're still doing a full check on the broom," she said, and after seeing me start to open my mouth to say something else she held up her hand to silence me, "And before you complain about us dismantling a Firebolt, please know that this is for Mr. Potter's safety. We don't know why or who sent this broom to him, and with the events of this year it's best to take all necessary precautions"

Once Professor McGonagall finished speaking, I looked at her with a wry smile, confusing her a bit.

"Professor Minnie... Who do you think has enough money to give someone a Firebolt as a gift?" I asked, and Professor McGonagall continued to stare at me blankly for a few seconds before her eyes widened.

"Wait! So you're the one who sent him the broom?" she asked in surprise.

"Actually it was a friend of mine, who for certain reasons I can't say who he is, but I helped him in a way" I said with a shrug, 'Well, I let him use Hermes to deliver the present, so I helped, right?' I wondered.

"Oh" was the only thing Professor McGonagall said, realizing that it was probably all a misunderstanding and that confiscating Harry's broom might not have been necessary.

But come to think of it, it's funny that actually Hermione and Professor McGonagall were right too, since it was actually Sirius who sent Harry the broom.

"Sooooo... Are you going to give him the broom back?" I asked a little hopeful.

Professor McGonagall then started to look at me with an uncertain look, and I could feel a debate going on in her mind before she sighed.

"Okay, since I now know you were the one who sent him the broom I have no reason to keep it confiscated" she said, and I smiled.

"That's good," I said.

"Yes... But I hope you know that now that Mr. Potter has a Firebolt that Ravenclaw's chances of winning the Quidditch Cup have decreased," Professor McGonagall said with a defiant and rather cheeky smile.

"Professor... You and I both know this is unlikely to happen" I snorted, looking at her challengingly as well, wringing a slight smile from her stern lips.

"That's what we'll see, Ethan," she said.

End.

(End AN: I'm making a new posting schedule.

I'm busy most of the day, so it's really hard to find time to write and edit chapters, but I'll try to post more often.)
