Yeah! Here's the new chapter!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I've already talked about my studies and training, and in the time that has passed, I've slowly advanced in each one.
I found out from my parents' letters that Cele began to show more accidental magic. I also, through some old letters, remembered that Cele managed to do something that I've been trying to do since the beginning of the year, which is fly without a broom.
I have not and will not try to copy her type of flight, as accidental magic works differently from controlled magic. Accidental magic does not obey or is controlled by the wizard or witch, but by the will of the magic itself, which wants to please its user.
It's hard to explain, but from the theoretical books I've read, and from what I've analyzed for myself, the magic of children under 12 years old acts of their own volition to protect, cheer, or welcome the witch or wizard.
You may be thinking that I got the age wrong, but in fact magic still has a will of its own and the wizards continue to show signs of accidental magic until the end of their lives, but it is less frequent when the child turns 12, not 11 as we've been taught to believe.
But changing the subject and putting my training and studies aside, I'm getting ready for Christmas, as I'm going to visit the Flamels with my family.
I've already packed the philosopher's stone in my suitcase, and I've prepared a short mental list of questions to ask them.
I'm obviously not going to pass up this opportunity to gain knowledge with the two oldest people in the wizarding world, who are also probably two of the most experienced and knowledgeable people in magic.
Perhaps talking to them will even allow me to understand what is missing from my self-created spells.
"Hi Ethan Night" Luna, who was sitting in front of one of the common room windows said, turning to me as I'm walking down the stairs to the dorms.
"Hello Luna Lovegood" I said to her smiling, "Have you seen the boys?" I asked, not finding them in the common room and not feeling their magic in the dorms.
"Oh, they're looking for the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room" Luna replied, turning back to look out the windows.
"Why are they looking for the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room?" I looked at her curiously, "And what are you doing with Nyx?" I asked noting only now that Nyx was on Luna's lap with a crown made of flowers on her head.
'Because when I try to put any kind of clothes on you, do you try to attack me?' I asked myself, staring at Nyx with a raised eyebrow.
Nyx seemed to know what I was thinking as she looked at me lazily and moved closer to Luna, making my eye twitch.
"The boys are looking for the Hufflepuff common room because of a bet with Megan, and about Nyx... Doesn't she look pretty in that flower crown?" Luna asked, not answering my question as she held up Nyx for me to see.
"..."
"..."
"...Sigh... Yeah, she looks pretty" I said, shaking my head helplessly with a wry smile on my face.
Luna, hearing me agree with her, had a huge smile on her face and then turned around to go through her bag.
"I'm glad you think she looks pretty, because I made you a flower crown too," she said, turning to me with a blue flower crown in her hands.
...
...
...
"You're lucky to be too innocent," I muttered, sitting down across from her, picking up the flower crown and placing it on my head.
"It looks great on you" Luna said happily, and Nyx looked at me and I could feel that she was enjoying this whole thing.
I should have picked a toad' I thought, staring at Nyx.
"Sigh, well while the boys are doing boy stuff, would you like to play a game of chess with me?" I asked Luna, pulling out my wand and levitating a wizarding chess board that was on a table next to us.
"Well, yes, but you have an advantage over me," she said, and I looked at her confused.
"What advantage?"
"Hmm, isn't it obvious? Grizz Blue flowers attract Nyxies, the strategy fairies, and you're wearing a crown of those flowers, so the fairies will help you" Luna said crossing her arms, and I felt like looking up with my Magic Vision just to see if these fairies are here.
"Well then, in that case I can take the flower crown off so we're evenly matched," I said, my hand moving up to the flower crown.
"Oh no need" Luna said, digging into her bag, "I'll put my Grizz Blue flower crown too" she then took another flower crown from her bag.
...
...
...
"How many of these do you have in that bag of yours?" I asked with a blank face.
"Well... Some?" she said innocently.
"Sigh... Well then, let's get started," I said, putting Luna's fun little oddities aside.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-A little later-
After a few rounds of playing against Luna, I started looking at the board wondering when it all started to go wrong.
We've played five matches so far, and in all five I've lost to Luna in the most unusual ways I could think of.
I've even started to think that the fact that she has several Grizz Blue flowers in her bag is attracting more Nyxies than accepted by the international wizarding chess community.
'And here I found my long-awaited opponent' I thought, my chin resting on my hands.
'Hmm, what a strange smell' I thought, feeling a bitter and slightly sour smell hit my nose.
I then heard some shuffling, wet footsteps coming from outside the common room, and turning towards the passage I saw it open.
As soon as the passageway opened, I saw the boys coming through it, they were all soaking wet and looking somber, and along with the smell it was easy to discover what had happened to them.
"Have you had a nice walk to the Hufflepuff Common Room?" I asked, trying but failing to hold back my smile.
"Whoever said the Puffs are good is completely wrong," Terry said, looking blank and frightened.
"And me thinking Salazar was the cruelest founder of Hogwarts" Anthony said, turning to look at me.
...
...
...
"Ethan... What do you— You know what? Never mind," Anthony said, turning around and heading upstairs to his dorm room.
Terry, who had heard Anthony, turned to look at me along with Stephen and Michael.
"What the hell are you wearing on your head?" Michael asked.
"And what the hell is covering your body?" I asked curtly back, causing Michael to shut up.
Michael then turned and walked up the stairs behind Anthony, and Stephen was smart to keep quiet and follow the two of them.
Terry, who was the only one remaining in the common room, looked at me, then Luna, and finally Nyx.
"Well that's not the weirdest thing I've ever seen so meh" he shrugged.
"Checkmate" Luna said, surprising Terry.
"Err... This is something weird," he said.
"See Ethan, now the score is 6 to 0 for me" Luna said victoriously.
"Could it be that I'm dreaming and this is all an illusion made by Helga Hufflepuff?" Terry wondered, looking off into space.
"Why don't you go take a shower, vinegar Boy?" I asked dryly, and Terry lifted his arm to sniff himself.
"Urg, right" Terry said wrinkling his nose.
He then turned around, and like the other boys went up to his dorm.
"You know, my dad told me that Helga Hufflepuff was part of a dangerous organization that aimed to steal all the kettles in the world" Luna said, and I started to open my mouth to say that this might not be true, but then I stopped to think.
...
...
"Hmm, that might be true," I said scratching my chin.
End.

(End AN: Sorry guys, my room renovation continued this weekend, and I had a lot of work to do.
I'll still be busy next weekend as the makeover isn't complete yet, but I'll try to post the chapters on the right days.)
