"It seems everyone is educated to read and write, while anyone above the age of six has started some kind of apprenticeship in a craft.

In total there are at least two hundred or so slaves that can be considered trained and competent.

The rest of the slaves are either elders, or children undertaking apprenticeships."

Alfred read through the information about the slaves in the cells they passed.

In total there was five hundred slaves but only two hundred could be put to work immediately without supervision.

The rest of the three hundred were family members who were qualified in some craft, but they were proficient enough or were too young.

Some of the elders could still work, but many had injuries from working over the years which left them struggling to move.
