Chapter 21 - Then Found

Soon Gudmund, Derek, Nozomi, and Ana arrive at the cabin. They head down the tunnel to see what is in it. Elena asked Nozomi, "How did it go with Stacy?"

"She ID the body as her older brother Victor, with no idea how long he has died. She asked me if Van killed Victor," Nozomi said.

"What did you tell her?" Elena asks.

"I couldn't say anything, so I told her we would know more after we got more information about the killer. She is staying at HQ to be safe from Van," Nozomi said.

Gudmund stands before everyone, "Ok, here is the plan," everyone looks at him. "My team and I are going to go into the tunnel. The rest of you stay around and search the area. We have flare guns that we'll launch when we get outside the tunnel. Those operating the three drones to scan the area, be sure to keep it within ten miles radius," Gudmund finished.

Then the team went down the tunnel and went down it. Soon the group ended, and a ladder went up. Derek goes up first, and once he gets to the top, he pushes the cover to see. He sees things are clear and gets out of the trap door. He has the rest of the team follow. They look around, "This looks like a den or something," Gudmund said.

"It looks like an old abandon shack," Aharon said.

"Let's split up," Gudmund said and grabbed his radio, "Nozomi, where are you guys?" he asked over the radio.

"We are about five miles northeast from the cabin," she answers over the radio.

"Ok, I need you to have the drones look around for an old shack," Gudmund answers.

"Got it," Nozomi said and turned to one officer with a drone. "Send that drone up and look for a shack," she said, and the officer nodded. She grabs her radio to call Elena and Ana to tell them the same thing.

Back with Gudmund's group, they split up and looked around. Derek finds a door that leads to the basement. He goes down the stairs. Derek turns on the light and sees it in a big room. It has a door at the other end, and he walks over to it and opens it. He went in and saw many girls cowering in the back of the room, "pINPOINt, I am a federal agent," he said and went by them to get the chain off them. He calls Gudmund and Aharon over his radio, "Guys, I found the girls, but I don't see Aharon's sister." He pulled out his cell and brought up a photo of Aharon's sister, "Have you girls seen this girl; she should be twenty-eight years old now."

"Y-y-yes, she was just in here a while ago till he took her," said one girl that looked nineteen. "She protected me from the man that was going to take me. She protected us all and told us that we'd be free one day."

Derek smiles, "She is right; right now, stay in here, and I'll get you out soon. How many people are here?"

Aharon is upstairs and enters a room, and looks around. He walks over to a closet, opens the door, and looks inside. He left the room and went down the hall, and a door opened behind him. He turns around and comes face to face with a man with a gun out. The man shoots, and Aharon dodge and shoots the guy twice. The man fell to the ground dead, and Aharon got up and followed him. He kicked the gun away and checks the man's pulse, and there weren't any. He presses a button on his radio, "Gudmund, I got a man down, one of Van's goons. I'll get a photo of this man and send it to Maisie."

"Good, clear the second floor and come back down to the first," Gudmund said, ending the call. Gudmund is in the kitchen and is walking down to a door. He opens it up slowly and looks into the room. Then he sees Van standing with Aharon's sister, Suzan, before him.

"Well, look like you came, huh," Van said, holding the gun to Suzan's head. "Where is Officer Sayar?"

"He is on the second floor, looking for more girls you have here. One of my other teammates has already found most of them down in the basement," Gudmund said.

"I warn you not to come and look for Suzan, or I will kill her," Van said.

"I got some questions for you," Gudmund said as he lowered his gun. "I have been noticing some M.O. from you. You kill and capture a girl after having her for a few years. You kill her, but so far, Suzan is the only one you have that lives ten years after you capture her. Why is she different from the other girls you have killed?"

"Because I like this one better, it's her body, hand, neck, and thin face," he answers. "I want her for me, while the others were just toys for a while."

"You are sick, but why would you do this anyway? What do you have to gain."

"Power, I want to show I am strong and can take anyone on," he said.

Gudmund got a message over his earpiece, "Ok, Van," he lowered his gun and put it in his holster. "I withdraw my gun; now let's talk about a deal. I want to know one thing if you let Suzan go and tell me something, I want to know. I'll talk to the DA about making a deal."

Van doesn't believe him and smirks, "Not a chance, but go ahead, ask me what you want to know," Van said, putting the gun closer to Suzan's neck.

"Where is Azar Sherazi, as I know he was the one that gave you Suzan?"

Van smiles, "I have no idea, and the only way I can contact him is through his contacts. And I know that you want to find him to find Nevel Gustafsson. I will not tell you, mainly because I want to live."

Outside of the shack near trees, Nozomi has gotten her sniper gun ready. She grabs her radio, "Ok, I am ready, and I got Suzan in view. I just need Van to step in front of the window so I can shoot him," she said.

"Got it," said Elena, signaling the others to be ready. "We'll start surrounding the shack and be ready to go in."

Nozomi nodded and looked through her sniper gun, and watched for Van to step into view. "Let's hope I can get this guy and save those girls," she said to herself.

Inside, Aharon rushed down to the first floor and got to the hall that goes to the room where Gudmund was. He put his back against the wall and went by the doorway. Aharon bent down and slid a mirror to see inside the room. He sees Van with a gun pointing at Gudmund. He sees Suzan holding tightly by Van; he is happy to see her again but chooses not to show it as her life is in danger. He touches his radio, "Ok, I am by the room where Gudmund is with Van and Suzan," he says over the radio. "I also need to get a clean shot to get Van."

"Be ready for anything, Aharon," Elena said over the radio, and she then called for Maisie. "Maisie, did you manage to get an aerial view of the area yet?"

Back at HQ with Maisie, she was typing away and got the map to show the shack, "Yes," she said over the radio. "Now, you got eyes in the sky."

Back in the shack with Gudmund, he still tries to talk down Van. "Look, I already got the place surrounded, give up now, and we'll talk. We'll keep you safe from Azar; we must find out where he is ok."

Nozomi hears something and looks around. She sees nothing and looks back to the shack. She looks through the scope and understands Van is still not stepping in front of the window. "Come on; step forward so I can shoot you in the arm. All I need to do is shoot you in the."

"Nozomi, you got company," said Maisie over the radio.

"What do you mean?" Nozomi asks.

"I switch to infrared sensors and pick up some more heat in one of the areas where our men are not," Maisie said.

"Ok, I'll go and check it out. Tell me where they are," she said.

"Use the scope on your gun because one should be in your view," Maisie said.

Nozomi looks through her scope and looks around and sees someone with a sniper gun. She zooms in to see if she can see the person better. "I see a man who isn't one of ours, alright. He got his sniper gun pointing to the shack. Is there another window to the room that Gudmund is in?"

Aharon moved his mirror and sees the second window, "Yes, and Van is right in front of it," he said over the radio. "Derek, how are you and Ana getting the girls out of the basement?"

"We are doing alright," Derek answers and helps another girl through the window.

Ana is on the other side, helping them and having one officer take her. "As long as the enemies are kept busy, we can save these girls," Ana said.

"Ana, I am going to go and check the rooms to see if there are any more," Derek said after helping the last girl through the window. He went to look in the other rooms and see if a room was attached to any other places. Soon he returned to the window, "Ana, that is the last of them. Go meet up with Elena, ok." Ana nodded and left with the last girl to meet up with the others, "Nozomi, how is it going looking for that snapper?"

"Ok," she said over the radio running through the woods. "I am heading for him right now. How's boss doing?"

"I am heading up to the first floor to back him and Aharon up," Derek said and headed for the stairs.

With Gudmund, he set his gun down on the floor and kicked it to Van, "Ok, now let's talk. How about we make a deal, ok. I am sure you are getting tired, right," Gudmund said. "So, like I have said before, surrender, and we'll make a deal for you to bring down Azar."

Van smiles, "I guess I am going to have you killed and with everyone else here," he said.

Gudmund listens to a message over his earpiece and looks at Van, "Look, we know you got many guys around in the woods. We have found them and are getting them right now."

Van growl, toss Suzan to the side and shoot a couple of bullets at Gudmund. Gudmund jumped to the side, and the shots missed him. Then Aharon appears in the doorway and shoots Van twice. Van got hit, fell back, hit the nightstand, and fell to the floor. Gudmund went to Van as Aharon rushed to Suzan's side. "Suzan," Aharon calls out, and Suzan looks up, and he hugs her.

"Aharon?" she asks, and Aharon looks at her with tears.

"I finally found you," he said, and Suzan cried.

"Oh, Aharon, I miss you," she cried, and the two hugged tightly.

Gudmund kicks Van's gun away and checks to see if he is alive, which he is. "Van is still alive," Gudmund said, calling the others over his radio.

A few hours later, at the Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, the girls at the shack are getting treatment. Aharon is in Suzan's room, sitting at her bedside while she sleeps. Gudmund walks into the room, and Aharon sees him, "The doctor said she'd be fine. She needs to rest," Aharon said as he looked back at his sister.

"That's good. Did you call your mom?" he asks.

"Yea, she is being driven here right now and should be here in about fifteen," Aharon answers. "After ten years, I finally found my baby sister. I am happy to see her again."

Gudmund smiles and hands him a vanilla envelope, and Aharon takes it and looks at him, confused. "Open it," Gudmund said.

Aharon opens it, reaches inside, pulls out a badge, and looks at Gudmund, "A badge?"

"A pINPOINt badge. I want you to officially rejoin the team as a detective and as Elena's partner."

Aharon got up and faced Gudmund, "Are you sure? It has been five years since I was on the team?"

"I made some calls and got you reinstated as a member, but you need to do some training. But you can do them when we don't have a case," Gudmund answers. "So, will you join?"

Aharon thinks about it and looks at his sister momentarily and back to Gudmund. "Ok, I'll join; it does pay better than being a P.I." The two shook hands, and they looked at Suzan.

Later Derek meets up with Gudmund as the two will go and question Van, who is now recovering. They head down to his room as they get to where his hospital room is. Nurses and doctors exit the room, "Is everything ok?" Derek asks one doctor.

"Sorry, Van has passed away," the doctor said. "He had a heart attack."

The two look at each other, "There goes our shot of finding Azar and Nevel," Derek says.

Gudmund looks at the doctor, "Please send the body to pINPOINt autopsy, and I'll call them to let them know." The doctor nodded and went to set it up. Gudmund phone beeped and he looked at it; he got a text from his cousin Hakon. He calls Hakon back, "Hakon, what is it?" Hakon tells him over the phone, and his eyes widen, "I'll be on the next jet out." He hangs up, and Derek looks at him, "That was Hakon, the house that Sigmund and his family were hiding in. Been trash, and they are missing."

"What are you going to do?" Derek asks.

"I will let Irene know, and we'll both head to Norway to check out the house. I need you to take care of things here for a while."

The next day in Bergen, Norway, Gudmund and Irene arrive at a house and walk inside. They look around, see how to mess up, and see Hakon walk into the room. They greet each other, "Hakon, this is where Sigmund has been living this whole time?" Irene asks.

"This was his safe house, but we got a message that someone from Nevel's organization was arriving here. So Sigmund and his wife and son had to leave quickly. We don't know where they are right now," Hakon answers.

"Why don't you know where they are?" Gudmund ask.

"Look, when we have someone in hiding, we only can have limited contact. Once agents safe house compromises, they have to protect themselves and look for a new location on their own."

Gudmund and Irene are confused, "Why does he have to do that?" Irene asks.

"Because if any enemies found one of our agents. They're on their own to keep them safe. So right now, they are in the wind and won't be able to return to us until they contact us. Sigmund had already set up a new safe place for himself and his family. He told me he set it up and didn't tell me as he couldn't. Once he gets the safe place, he must go there if an enemy finds out where he is. He has to get everything set up on his own, and no way for us to know who he is now and where he is."

"Where are the other locations you have set up as safe places?" Gudmund ask.

"He won't be at any of those because he would be found by the enemies there. I can't locate him because."

"Because he left his cell phone here," Irene said, and everyone looked at her. She picked up a cell phone on the coffee table. "This is his cell, right?"

"Yes, by the NIS," Hakon answers, and Gudmund looks at him.

"I don't get it; I got told that he is working on some mission, and now he is missing. He was supposed to come back to California," Gudmund said.

Irene looks through the cell and sees only four numbers. "Who numbers are these for?"

"We only allow a few numbers in that cell, but he had a second phone every day. A personal call, while this one is for us to use. To talk to him," Hakon said.

"What is this mission anyway," Gudmund asks.

Hakon took them to a different room and made sure they were alone, "He had been working with a top-secret team for the intelligence agencies. United Nations is leading this behind closed doors. We are not supposed to allow anyone else to know this. We got the Central Intelligence Agency, Norwegian Intelligence Service, Mossad, MI6, National Police Agency, Japan, Ministry of State Security, China, and three more. Only the head of those agencies knows about the mission, and they only have a few people know as well."

"What is the mission?" Irene asks.

"I cannot tell you two what it is about, but it relates to a mission our parents were working on long ago." Gudmund and Irene are confused, "Our grandfather enlisted your dad and my mom for this mission but couldn't finish it. Remember that year when your dad and my mom left for almost a year and a half." Gudmund and Irene nodded, "It was a mission they did for the NIS with United Nations, but it failed. Six years ago, my boss at the U.N. came to me and talked to me about it. It is a mission where we are to combine Intel and bypass the laws in other countries to watch over those that deem dangerous to the world."

"You mean you are setting up a spying cam on everyone?" Irene asks.

"Kind of, and they are only for those on the watch list for Interpol and a few others. The ones working on this are seeing up their watch list to have us spy on them," Hakon said.

"Is Nevel on that list?" Gudmund asks. "He is on the pINPOINt and FBI most wanted list. The CIA also wants him because of his super-high IQ point."

Hakon said nothing for a while, "Can't tell you; it's not a list to all of the other agencies," he said. "What I can tell you is that we believe he is working with someone that is on the list. Interpol has been keeping tabs on it and learned that this person we are looking for. I am sorry I cannot tell you anything else." Hakon left the room, leaving his cousins looking at each other.

"What are we going to do?" Irene asks, looking at her brother.

"We go back home and keep doing what we do. Maybe Sigmund will contact us again or will come home," Gudmund said.

Irene looks around the room, "This is a bedroom, Sigmund's room."

Gudmund looks around, "We can see if we can get some photos of our brother's family of the past five years. They did have a life here," he said.

Later they are returning to the airport, and Irene looks at Gudmund, "So, are we heading back to California?"

"I think we should stop at Washington DC," he said, looking serious. "But first, we are staying here for a couple more days."
