Chapter 2 - Sixteen Years of Planetary Life

I rolled over, keeping the sun out of my eyes. The Terrastone Family estate was warm this morning, and I didn't want to leave my bed just yet. After all, it was the start of my second year in highschool.

Black Crown Private Academy, the most prestigious school on Illdonise. My adoptive father, Alfred Terrastone, had managed to get me a spot in the dorms. Guess he really didn't want me here.

Unlike the rest of his kids, I was simple. I used manners at all times, I only asked for what I needed, I never complained, and the list goes on. Everyone else who was taken off the streets asks, begs, complains, and are all snotty brats.

But, when he wanted kids, thats what he wanted. He didn't want a humble kid like me, until he realized I was his best shot at keeping the legacy of his company going. His other kids would do something stupid, like sell the company, or deny very powerful business partners. That's why I was his only shot.

So, he got some extra cash together, bought me a place in the best high school around, and bought me my own dorm. I knew I'd be sharing with another person, but I could've cared less. At least I had the opportunity. And that alone meant more to me than anything.

I turned on the television, and the first show that came on was a news article. The headline read, 'Top Model Stopping Until the End of May. School, or Love?' and I snickered. I knew who they were referring to, and knew the answer was school. After all, Angelica Valentine was my age, and swore not to let another man into her life until her father died, or approved of one.

"Well, Norway, you know that she is only sixteen. She still has the chance to take over Valentine's Industry of Love. So, of course, her family would love for her to at least know what she's doing if Delmar is to fail. Though, I reckon he won't."

"You're not wrong. Now that you say it, Carlson, this brings up the peculiar case about Leviathan Terrastone, who was recently told that they would be the heir to the Terrastone Family Company. And, if not to make this case more peculiar, he isn't even the child of Alfred, the current head of the company."

"Yes, while Levi's case is exeptionally peculiar, we must think about what the two of them would do, if they are to meet."

Carlson and Norway always seemed to bring me up when it came to Angelica. In the months since my dad released that I would be taking over the corporation, every new channel that talked about business looked at the two of us. But who wouldn't? The Valentine's and the Terrastone's had brought the entire world to this planet, and now, after seventy two years each, they were getting new heirs. It was the most exciting thing since the Azer Star Fall show, or the star shower that gave us hope.

I was forced to wake up after seeing that horrible program. Sure, I was the new heir to a company that could quite possibly save the planet, but that didn't mean I had to act like it.

I began to do my morningly workouts. One hundred push ups, fifty squats, fifty sit ups, and a ten mile run through the city.

I remembered when my father told me to get strong. It was just before he leaped of the Grand Square Clocktower, ending his life. The date was December twenty third, two days before Christmas. It was truly horrible. But I remembered that I needed to get stronger. I only needed more strength.

I completed the sit ups about an hour later, before pulling on my jogging hoodie, grabbing my water bottle, and walking outside onto the porch. The birds sang their songs, and I began my run.
