Erick clenched his teeth. There had to be a way out of this mess. He looked at his father, the beginnings of a plan starting to form in his mind.
What he needed was to buy some time.
"At least let me spend a few days with Corsica Maverin and get to know her a bit before I have to make that ultimate sacrifice."
Roy Rashak nodded. "That is fair enough. Take a week. In fact, take half a year."
His eyes softened. "As long as you are married and stable on the throne before the end of the year, you should be fine. But you must not tarry past the one year mark."
Erick shook his head. "Don't worry Father. I will ensure things progress in the most acceptable manner within this year."
Roy Rashak nodded and heaved a sigh of relief.
