Daran laughed and nodded. "I'm sure His Majesty will approve it. That's the least of our worries though."
His eyes took on a worried shadow. "Now that the Emperor has killed one of Alastaire's sons, I expect there will be swift retribution in the coming days."
He turned to give Ziggy a warning look. "Be extremely careful in the next few weeks."
Ziggy nodded. "I am an experienced warrior. I can handle whatever he throws at me."
Theo sniffed. "Did Alastaire expect that there would be no pushback after he destroyed two kingdoms? Does he think we are easy sitting targets?"
Alfric waggled his finger. "It's not that he wasn't expecting pushback. It was because he didn't think Erick would kill his son."
"Why not?"
Alfric rubbed his chin. "Well, Blaine is Erick's nephew, after all. They have never had a quarrel that I know of."
