At the end of the day they met up again. He was exiting his last period when he saw her outside waiting for him. And he felt warm inside. To think someone is waiting for him and it happens to be the beauty of the school, made him feel like he won the lottery.
He felt her stare as he approached her with his head down. He walked automatically with his head down all the time and when he was just about to get to her-
"BOO!"
"-HPP"
She said startling him because she appeared from below.
"What the hell was that reaction?" She said laughing.
He had no choice but to get embarrassed at the unusual noise he made.
"Anyways, Are you ready?"
"wait, what? Are we going right now?" He asked.
"Well the movie starts at 5… but u want to hang with you for a bit before. But I want to get changed too so let's go to my house I'll be quick."
-Going to her house. Going to her house. Going to her house. Going to her house.- he repeated as they walked to her house which was not far from the school either. But he couldn't get his head around the thought of it. Going to her house. Being inside her room.
-seeing her undre- no no no let's not think of that.- but obviously he thought about it. And he was half hard the whole walk.
But once they got to her house.
"Stay outside here for a bit I promise i'll be quick." She said as she went inside and closed the door on him.
-…-
-I'm not going in?-
And he got soft.
The house was not what he expected from the beauty of the school. It looked mostly beat up and not taken care of. The lawn was horrible and the glass on the door was cracked. Paint was falling off and leaks were visible. The house seemed to be empty. No sound came from it. It looked like someone was inside but there was nothing.
He approached the steps after staring at it for a while. He started to reacg his hand out but then he pulled back as he heard the rusted door handle move.
"Sorry for the wait." She said as she came out.
"It's fine." As she closed the door he took a peak inside.
-what's that? Looks like a man's hand, and beer bottles on the floor.-
"Is nobody home?" He asked to avoid asking directly.
"Uhmmm."
There was a visible disinterest in her eyes as she walked down the steps.
"Yea there is. My dad is there so I couldn't let you in. And it's a mess so don't worry about it." She was smiling but it didn't look like her usual smiles. Simply looked forced.
He stayed thinking about it for a bit.
-maybe her wrists are connected to her father…?-
"Hey!" She interrupted his thoughts.
"Let's go?" She asked standing in a ballet like position.
His mind was was focused on her. As he looked down at her from the stairs, he got a different angle of the person he was going in a date with. The girl with silky black hair and blue eyes wearing light brown skirt and a crop top white sweater which mixed with her pale white skin.
-ahhh she looks just like a dream.- and then they walked to the movies. In such a small town everything was close by. Didn't need a ride half the time.
But when they got to the entrance of the movie theatre, he saw two people he did not expect at all. Two people he wasn't mentally ready to see.
Kate and his old best friend were there.
-I want to leave.- he thought to himself knowing Jessica most likely brought them along.
-She probably thought bringing him would make me feel more comfortable. It's the opposite. This isn't what I was prepared for.-
"Hey man." His best friend said, but Miles just kept looking down, his soft reply "H-hey" was barely even heard by the people around them.
He wasn't a bad person, he never hurt hin in any way and did the complete opposite all the time. He was always a loyal friend. But that's what Miles didn't want. He tried to separate himself from everyone, while everyone walked away, which made him think they never cared for him at all, he was the only one who relentlessly tried to stay. He reminded Miles how much of a coward he is, always trying to flee. He was the hand always reaching out towards him to pull him out of the dark place, but he swatted his hand away every single time.
The girls greeted each other and greeted David, his "friend" but Miles kept his head down as if lifting it would end his life immediately. He just watched them from the corner of his eye. Their silhouettes moving around blurred in with the chatter, becoming inaudible.
Regardless, he did not run away or anything he chose to simply stay quite. They all proceeded to go inside.
"Hey guys, can you go buy the tickets?" Kate said while giving the money to David, Miles had to pay for Jessica of course.
-fuck now he's going to try to make small talk.-
And just as he said
"Wow I did not expect you to be with her." He said comfortably. As if they never stopped talking. Which kind of pained Miles, reminding him of what a coward he is.
"Yea, neither did I."
He replied to the unexpected visitor.
