And I look at him with dead eyes, like all the life had been sucked dry out of them. Giving a little laugh which sounded a little maniacal even to my ears, I proceed to tell him, "One thing I've learned from him all his craziness is that always make good on your threats and promises." Before he could even react, I had a small hunting knife that had been hidden just beneath my packed bag and press it against my neck. He takes a step forward as if to disarm me, but I take one back.
We then are stuck at an impasse, which forces him to raise his hands out in a placating motion, all while saying, "Think about this, Jessica." And I give him an intense stare and smile a sad smile before honestly telling him, "I am Jake, truly. Let me go live my life Jake, or I'll kill myself because I can't do this anymore, I can't live like this". He takes one more step forward to test my resolve, and this time I don't take a step back; I look into his eyes as I apply pressure to let him know I mean business. When he finally sees the blood trickling down, he heaves another one of those his bigs sighs before he concedes.
"Alright, I'll let you go. But if you do make it out of here, and that's a big if where will you go, he asks curiously.
"The one place he'd never step foot in," I answer him truthfully.
"And where is that?" he inquires.
"Figure that out, Jake," I tell him with a smile on my face as I begin to see a glimmer of hope. While looking at him, I grab my bag and my keys. And we slowly back away from each other in a circle to give me access to the door. Once I'm out of the doorway, he says to my retreating form, "You know you risk us his anger, right?" I give him a sad smile over my shoulder as I reply truthfully, "Better you all than me." With that, I make a swift escape, and once in my car, I hear the blaring alarms. This then helps me hasten my actions as I start my engine and drive away. I take a final look at the hell I'm escaping through my rearview mirror, and I see him, my tormentor. And with a smile I can describe as evil, he mouthes, "I will find you again, amour 1," and waves as I turn the corner and drive to my newfound freedom.
