"Peridot!"
"Heliodors!"
"Peridot!"
The loud arguing voices of two maids rose, attracting a servant's attention.
"Why on earth are they arguing about gems...?"
The servant asked and the gardener besides him, who seemed to enjoy the show, replied.
"It's actually Lord Rivan's eyes that they're arguing about."
"The hell..."
The maids arguing went on.
"Heliodors! Ms. June agreed to my description when I used Heliodors!"
"But Lord Rivan agreed to young master Eliot's description when he used Peridot!"
"Ms. June knows best! She knew the Lord ever since he was a child! It's obviously Heliodors!"
"Ha! Young master Eliot probably heard of the description from the late Lady! Who knows her own child better then her grace?!"
"That's just a theory! You can't be sure!"
"The Lord agreed! That must be the case then!"
The argument didn't seem to end, not until the two of them turned to the new coming servant and asked.
"Which is correct? Heliodor?!"
"Or Peridot?!"
The servant looked at them with disbelief. They were sobbing and crying terribly three days ago at the Lady's loss and now...
All the poor guy could do is stroke his template and sigh deeply.
The sneakers of the gardener was not helping.
'The legitimate heir of the Duke's title is back from the dead and they're discussing his eyes colors....I guess it's better than gossip about troublesome things'
Looking at the arguing maids, it seemed he had to actually answer.
"Well, it seems that the color changes depending on the light..."
The two maids and the interested gardener all went silent before they asked similarly.
"Huh?"
The servant looked at all of them with helplessness before asking.
"You want me to explain?"
The three workers nodded, and so the servant spoke.
"The Lord's eyes are yellowish green, but they give off a different shade of color depending on the light.
In the dark they look deeper green and more yellowish, like Heliodor.
In the light they look lighter green and more greenish, like Peridot."
Clap clap clap clap.
The servant finished explaining and turned to find the other three clapping with amazement.
"Ohhh, so that's why we saw it differently!"
"Mm, the Lord's eyes have a unique color. We wouldn't have noticed the changes if you didn't tell us!"
The two maids were laughing together as if they never argued. The servant was just relieved they understood his expansion.
Yet, as he turned his face, the old gardener had a serious look while deep in thoughts.
He asked with concern.
"Is there something wrong?"
The old gardener mumbled quietly.
"Yellowish green, huh..."
He turned to face the youthful servant as he spoke.
"This new Duke, he has the previous Duke's eyes. Every Whishipper has those yellowish green eyes."
The servant widened his eyes with surprise.
He wanted to ask carefully.
"So..."
But there was no need as the gardener proceeded speaking. He sounded like he was saying natural facts.
"Yes, he's not an imposter. I've worked here more than I'd like to be sure of that."
The old gardener drew a bitter smile as he spoke slowly.
"The Whishippers can't be killed easily. This land knew no ruling household before them. It could be its curse to never fall out those pair of yellowish green eyes. Hehe"
The old man kept laughing quietly, as if to hide away the terror in his voice, but no other shared him the joy.
